Maccaboard: Now We Are New!

Or you can copy & paste.
And why is THAT happening??? You never had to put a link in a special place before.
-
Thanks Administration team for the updates to show you are reading and working things out.
I would still like to have an option to be "hidden"
To come on here.
Thanks for reading and listening.

Thanks for these long overdue bug fixes. The functionality went from 3/10 to 6/10 overnight, so that’s good. I would like to see this next:
When clicking on the threads, there should be the option to go straight to the last post. Or in a perfect world, like at the majority of other forum systems, to go straight to the newest posts since an user last was online. Now you always start at page 1.

I know, it’s a pain in the a$$!🤬
Also, ADMIN, I changed my dates to the U.S. way, but my date of joining the board is still reversed! It should be 3/1/2011 (March 1st) The other dates are okay.

I have been unable to post PMs for 24 hours. Says technical difficulties. Two friends and I have a group PM and they are able to post and I can see what they post.

When a forum thread has been deleted then it really needs to be completely removed from the forum. There is currently a spam thread on 'Not Such A Bad Boy' which has been deleted but is still visible (albeit shaded grey and fainter) and so is still advertising.

Good point, Kestrel! After spam is deleted it shouldn't be visible, and it shows someone's private email address as well.

I wish there was an "invisible" or hidden option too.
Because of computer issues, it's easier for me to stay logged in. Staying logged in doesn't mean someone is actively looking at the board 24/7, I'm usually away doing other things, but like to check back every so often.
When a person isn't signed in, and tries to view the board, sometimes the newest threads and posts aren't visible, and are usually 24 hours old, or older... so you have to log in in order to see what's new. If that can be fixed, where posts can be viewed immediately when a person isn't logged in, that would be of help.... that way a person could still be hidden and be able to view the most recent posts. I've noticed lately that sometimes the latest posts do show up, without being logged in, but sometimes they don't either.
Thanks for reading this, and hopefully there can be a hidden / invisible option, as there was on the previous version of the board, or the glitch can be fixed that I wrote in paragraph above.

If you stay logged in and walk away for a while, when you come back, refresh the home page and all the new posts will show up.
P.S. My PM feature is back working. This was not the first time there were technical difficulties.

Interesting how vastly different it is here from the new rebooted Shatner forum that launched today, where the Mods are present and active up to the minute if one needs them, feedback is heeded and everything works, versus here where Paul McCartney's fails on all those counts.
Will they just blow in from the tour and finish the job if and when. Honestly, I expected everybody involved with Paul to perform at high levels so it's surprising no progress has been made here. If the musicians left things half finished like this, they'd be out of a job, lickety split!
I so agree with you.
I don't know if the Administrators and Mods and Staff associated with the board do their duties as "A labor of love" and/or how much funding is devoted to the project. Perhaps, they just don't know any computer genius's to help them? I do happen to know of a friend of mine's son-in-law, who is a natural genius with computers and has been the Computer Dept. Head for The Arts Council of a large city in Florida for several years now.

Thanks! That's always good to do when you're logged in. If you're not logged in, however, sometimes the latest posts don't show up. I'll try refreshing the page though, if I'm not logged in, and see if that helps, that's a good idea.

Why does it still say there are 6329 registered users online? There are (perhaps) only 2 of us online right now!
ETA: Now there are 4 of us, soon to be 3 as I am logging off in a minute.

I think the numbers could be for the entire site, not just the forum (although it does say Maccaboard). It still seems like a high number.

No hurry, but it would be nice to "edit" after the 30 minute window.

Thanks mods for all you do. Seriously.
One small request if the IT person shows up and can do this: Is it possible to have the default changed to NEWEST FIRST?
It seems a waste of time to change it everytime from OLDEST to NEWEST and then hit APPLY before we can read anything our friends have written. I'm not so sure that what the fans were posting in 2006 is relevent now to any conversation.

I'm getting logged out all the time like happened for years at the old board... That's how I noticed that there's yet another bug when being logged out. Take this thread: 3054 views, 231 posts, with the last post at 15/01/2018 when logged out, but 3181 views, 236 posts with the last post "about 6 hours ago" when logged in.

Doesnt seem quite as easy to move around and see what others are saying and make a comment, but I'll get used to it.

Any who wants to change the dates to the U.S. configuration can do so under Preferences (click on the person icon to the right of the envelope) However, this does not change the date you joined. Mine is still the U.K. way.

Logically, The U.S. & U.K. are both not the best way.
A year is the largest relative unit of time, the month second and day third.
Using A for A.D. and B for B.C. and A or P for A.M. or P.M.
2018A/01/29/9:29P GMT (or other time zone)
would be the most exacting and efficient way to express a point in time.
ps...I just changed mine to U.S. in preferences. Make sure you click on the pencil icon to the right there to do so.
Thanks, Nancy!
