New video for Back In Brazil. Remember this girl dancing on stage with Paul? We were right to suspect it was a set-up back then.
thanks for posting this Nancy. I like the video, especially the part where she sees Paul in concert.
But is this the next single? Is that why there's a video? This song wouldn't be my pick for the next single, imo.
I agree. But with Paul you never know. He is the worst judge of what songs to put out as singles, and the worst at composing a setlist!
Back in Brazil is a nice album track but the next single (hands down to me anyway) should be "WHO CARES". It has a classic Paul/Wings feel but "modern" at the same time. It is a natural follow-up to "Come On To Me". It rocks, is easy to dance to, and it has a great message. The subject matter is timely especially with all the "Internet Bullying" going on. "Who Cares" would hit the Audult Contemporary charts (like Come On To Me) in my opinion. It is one song on ES that could attract millenials and younger not normally Paul's audience. What do others think?
I'd rather hear Hunt You Down/Naked/C-Link or the bonus track Nothing For Free.

I was just now thinking about that medley, wondering if it would make a great single although three songs stitched together, and hoping it would. I wonder if "Naked" refers to his feeling floating in a fishbowl of fame with the spotlight relentlessly focused on him so he has to work to feel like a private person and himself and not the "big star"--something like that. And it's a drag to him at times. That might be too facile a reading of its theme, too glib. "Hunt You Down" sounds like a lament for one who got away, if that's not too glib an interpretation too.

I'm wondering if "Confidante" is about Heather Mills, and "Fuh You" is about Linda Mc. (?) "Back In Brazil" video is delightful (didn't the guy in the couple have a cell phone? LOL) and the song is,too, light, breezy, and joyful. Makes you feel good. "Fuh You" is so catchy ! About "Confidante"--just who did he fall out of love with? I'm thinking maybe H. Mills.
Confidante is written about one of his guitars Susy! (I guess you missed that interview/q&a where he talked about it)
And I also think Fuh You is about meeting Linda.

To Nancy R: Where and when did the girl dancer in the "Back To Brazil" vid dance "on stage with Paul" and "it was a set up" thanks for info. She's beautiful and talented. The young man featured is really appealing.
A couple years ago, a video was posted on here of that girl dancing on stage with Paul. We discussed at the time that it looked like a set up, and it was since I also read from someone who is from Brazil that she is not a fan, she’s a model. Anyway, they used the footage for the Back to Brazil and hired her to do the rest of the video.

I'm a little confused here. Admittedly it doesn't take much. Assuming that the song itself hadn't been written /recorded at the time of the concert, what was the purpose of the 'set up'? The fact that the woman is a model doesn't prevent her from being a fan. And even if she wasn't a fan, she would still be allowed to attend the concert and wave a sign around. The fact that two years on,some bright spark had the idea of hiring her for the video for Back In Brazil, and matching it in with the previously shot concert footage of the same woman, doesn't in itself mean the original footage was staged.

Maybe it had been written ? This albums been 3 years in the making .

Ok here’s a fun trivia question that I would expect Nancy to nail but I’m not sure if she’s digested the full album yet. She’s awesome!
Anyway I have noticed at least *three* sayings/phrases/concepts that are repeated across different pairs of songs. The first one surprised me. Did anyone else catch the common threads amongst these songs?

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking.

Will get back to you later on this one.

Anyone else?? Or is everyone oblivious? There were several common threads between songs.

Maybe you should just tell us. I don’t have the time today to do the research.

Egypt Station: its early days but at the moment,in terms of popularity, only Kisses on the Bottom, Press to Play and Pipes of Peace are less popular. Personally I think its a good album although I don't think its any where near as good as some fans are trying to make out.

Once the dust settles, I suspect it'll rank behind BOTR, RAM, C&C, and Macca I; somewhere around TOW level. Very good.

Nancy, Let's give the "amateurs" some time you're a pro. I'm sure just one listen front to back and you'll pick them out. I did.
By the way, how many colored vinyl versions are there? I know Macca sells one--is there a green one too?

Definitely not as good as BOTR (perhaps his best work). I think it's a good as RAM and better than Macca. As far as C&C I really haven't listened to most of the 90s and 00s stuff. It certainly blows the doors off New!
I find myself wondering what Lennon would have thought of it. It's got some great hard rock and blues.....much better than most of John's solo material for sure. I'm quite impressed with most of this album and I never thought I'd be saying that about a new Macca album again.

He talks about the meaning of Naked in an interview and it's not quite what you are surmising, but interesting interpretation.

Don’t know about the green one. Anyone?
Okay, I’m listening again and looking at the lyrics. The word “don’t” is in 8 of the songs. The phrase “I Don’t Know” is also in Do It Now.
What else?

Good thing the song is soooo much better than the video which is aweful in my opinion. The song reminds me a cross between Temporary Secretary and Just Another Day. The girl in the video is not that pretty and the guy is not handsome at all--so kind of ruins the imagery that the song paints. I'll try and forget I saw the video

LOL. No it's larger phrases and concepts or expressions not words (not happiness or love, but other more specific things). I was surprised to see them repeated on the album--very unusual for a good lyricist. Hint: one is in Despite Repeated Warnings.

“Do it now” is in DRW and of course the song DIN.
