But having viewed the Get Back Chronicles bootleg dvd series, there is no doubt that the Beatles were a lot happier during the Apple studio sessions than they were in the Twickenham film studio setting.
The Get Back Chronicles bootleg DVDs were great! Whatever direction the new film goes, it will be very interesting to see fresh footage.
A few years ago someone pinched all the tapes (demos, alterative takes etc) to a Radiohead album, tried to screw the band for money, and forced the band to officially release everything themselves, I think about 17 hours of material.
Now, if the same was to happen with this new film, Apple/ Disney might end up issuing all 58 hours of footage.
I saw, just yesterday, someone had an entire 1976 concert of Paul's on video & they wanted $8000.00! Yikes!

You know they're probably going to avoid all the "warts." And as far as The Beatles Anthology goes, it was never going to show/tell any of the seedy side of the Hamburg days and what went on during their tours in 1963-1966. Have to read Mark Lewisohn's book(s) for that!
As far as a Mark Lewisohn book on the 1963-1966 tours is concerned, do you think anyone will still be alive to read it?
I just hope the film will be fair, accurate and objective. That's not too much to ask.
Part 1 had all the Hamburg shenanigans! Part 2 will hopefully be out while I'm still alive! (2023 or 2024) I just hope Mark Lewisohn stays healthy and lives to a ripe old age! (he will be 62 June 16th)

According to this news item in Record Collector, Peter Jackson's new Get Back documentary will be just 80 minutes long, with 42 of them spent on the full rooftop concert
-
^ Well that sucks! The damn thing could be 3 hours long and not cover it imo! 🤬
-
That does seem surprising that he could only get 80 minutes out of 56 hours!! How long is the bootleg DVD? I think I might like that better. What do you think?
-
That is almost definitely a mistake by Record Collector. The original Let It Be film ran for 80 minutes (81 according to IMDB) and I think they are getting confused with the run time of that film.

I hope so!!

I watched the original film recently again on YouTube and found it a lot more positive than people make out. A big deal was made of Paul and George's bickering but that was probably just because they were all a bit tired of each other and needed a break from all the nonsense going on around them. There were a lot of old rock 'n roll standards not featured in the original film, and hopefully some of those will turn up in Peter Jackson's film.

According to IMDB, Argentina and The Netherlands will get to see it first, on the 3 September. My main concern though is the running time or rather the lack of running time. If its going to be,for example, a 90 minute film and it includes the whole of the roof top sequence (approx 42 minutes), then that's roughly half of the film. If out or the 55 hours, only 45 minutes is going to be non- roof top footage then that's going to be really disappointing.

Please, it HAS. to be longer than 90 minutes!

It would be great if we can actually go to a cinema by then - I have to say at the moment I'm not over-confident ! If Ringo likes it, that's promising

Dhani Harrison said he was "overwhelmed" by it. ️

When does it come out on DVD? Or some other type of capture?
