Band on the Run 50th?
-
I have been reading The McCartney Legacy, Vol 1, 1969-1973 by Kozinn and Sinclair. Held off on buying it on Amazon as a reviewer complained about laborious reading due to the small print. Shocked, our local library got it in, I checked it out and it is incredibly detailed. Over 600 pages of text and favorable comments from Mark Lewisohn on the back.
Anyway, this isn’t a book review but this book brings to mind the forthcoming 50th anniversary of Band on the Run, released in December 1973. I mainly associate it with the Spring of 1974 when I got out of High School with college and the future beckoning. Some of us sung the title as “Class Hauling A**”. Very juvenile but we were teenagers.
I think we should expect a 50th anniversary edition even thoughBOTR lead off the Archival editions. Include another disk with outtakes and another disc with live versions. With the exception of Mamunia, the whole thing has been done live on various tours. There was a 25th anniversary edition, here is hoping for a 50th!
