Auntie Jin
-
As a young teenager I lived in Dinas Lane, Huyton just diagonally across the road from Auntie Jin (famous from the song, Let Em' In). Paul's noisy 21st birthday (on a 'school night'!) was held in a marquee in the garden and the party achieved a certain notoriety after John thumped the journalist from Merseybeat magazine. Hundreds of girls gathered in Jubilee Park which backs onto the garden and screamed all night to my parents' annoyance.
That is the background to my question. What I would like to hear from anyone is whether I am correct in my belief that the Beatles used to rehearse regularly in Auntie Jin's house. There are certainly photos out there on the Web of Paul and brother Mike playing there in the sitting room at a family gathering. More relevant is that, for what seemed like a number of years, I heard the familiar thump of a band's electric bass and other 'beat group' instruments emanating from the house when I used to walk en route for home.
Anybody know anything? Many thanks.

@dinas_lane First of all, you need to get a couple of your facts straight: her name was spelled Auntie Gin (for Virginia)
Sister Suzie, brother John
Martin Luther, Phil and Don
Brother Michael, auntie Gin
Open the door and let 'em in, yeahSecond, John did not beat up Bill Harry who published Merseybeat, he beat up the DJ from the Cavern, Bob Wooler, who asked John âHow was the honeymoon?â (John & Brian Epstein had just been on vacation together)

@njr Thanks, quite right about Bob Wooler, I stand corrected. There seem to be some alternative stories re his aunt on the Web. The ones I have read point to the spelling Jin which according to some sources is a variation on Jane.
-
@dinas_lane Her full name was Jane Virginia, and when Paul wrote âLetâEm Inâ he spelled it Gin. Sometimes they called her Ginny. I wouldnât go by what any of those papers like The Echo or The Daily Mirror say. Mark Lewisohn, in his biography of the Beatles (Tune In) spells it Gin. He is the premiere Beatles expert.

Hereâs a photo I took in Aug. 2011 of Auntie Ginâs house (from inside the bus) Canât see much as everything has grown so much!

@njr Cheers

@njr After hearing Let Em In on the Beatkes channel recently, it occurred to me that an additional meaning may be that "Open the door and let em in" can refer to the faithful who are waiting for the messiah to come. Never underestimate Sir Paul.

Paul was never that religious. Sorry, but imho it has nothing to do with that and would be willing to bet big bucks on it.

@njr Thank you for the feedback. Religion and spirituality are not the same. Sir Paul has always had a high respect for Jews, including his successful marriages, Brian Epstein, his girlfriend Frannie that apparently busted up his relationship with Jane Asher. Of course, Alan Klein and Phil Spector were narcissistic aholes. I know nothing and therefore I speculate, which is all Sir Paul wants his fans to do in a positive energy manner. Peace and Love.
