New album by Ringo, titled Postcards from Paradise
-
I think it seems as if Ringo in the 70s made music with one leg in the recording studio and the other in a party. I don't know if much has changed. He may not drink and party anymore, so this excuse is no use anymore... but he still make records with one leg in the recording studio and the other ... somewhere else. Or like the liner notes for "Vertical Man". Ringo quote: 'Life is life, this was just a record'.

Eh, I dunno what to tell you buddy. Neither of them are spectacular albums. Ringo was having a bit of a rough time from 76 to 81. I suspect he went the disco route because he was stoned, disco was hip and the current trend, and he thought it'd make him money... Oops. That being said, when music from the 4th starts playing on my MP3 player... I have less of an urge to hit the "Next" button than I would do if Rotogravure music started. Those songs entertain me more than A Dose of Rock n Roll, and Hey Baby, and Pure Gold. Maybe it helps that one of my favourite Ringo songs originated from the 4th... But there we go. The album cover however... That is a pure "What the hell" kind of thing
Pure Gold has McCartney's backing vocals! That makes it worth listening. And I think after the Beatles providing less than stellar compositions -and George suing him- he decided to give the forumla a rest... with atrocious results

It may very well have Paul's backing vocals... but that doesn't mean it's always gonna be a good song. I'd still rather listen to Six O'Clock, or Walk With You, or I Was Walkin'. Pure Gold is just pure boredom for me.

You are 100% correct on this. Still, Pure Gold is better than most of 4th, which is Pure Crap

Better than 4th? Oh God no, not for me. Half the songs on 4th are better than that garbage. I can only get into about 3 songs on Rotogravure, Pure Gold definitely not included. The 4th? 5, maybe 6 songs stand out for me. Maybe I just have different tastes and desires when it comes to music

Looks like we do! A divorce is in order

A divorce based on disagreements whether "Ringo the 4th" is better than "Ringo's Rotogravure"? Wow, as I've said before, it's time for reissues... this is records that nobody is indifferent to!

Ha "You don't like Ringo's Rotogravure? Get the hell out of my house!" "Oh wait, you hate Ringo the 4th too? Well come on in then."

Hahaha, you guys reading this, listen to "Times times time" tonight. It's a great little pop album with inspired compositions and a few great rockers courtesy of Jeff Lynne.

Yeah, Time Takes Time is a good album. Quite a number of winning songs for moi. It's a definite sign Ringo's career is back on the up and up. Cause I think we'll agree when I say that Old Wave really got screwed. The other albums came out worldwide. This thing only came out in, I think, Germany, Denmark, and Canada. That is a pretty underrated album. Not the greatest, not by a mile and a half... but it really did suffer.

Yes, but Old Wave is pretty crappy. Not good enough to warrant a worldwide release. On the other hand, "Time Takes Time" is the Phoenix rising from the ashes. Best Ringo album since Goodnight Vienna.

Yeah, it's not a perfect album. It has a few good songs here and there, but yeah, that 1992 album was much better. And from 92 onwards, things started improving...

Yes they did! I really like the Mark Hudson years.

Vertical Man and Choose Love were superb albums. Ringo Rama and Liverpool 8 weren't too bad. They each do their own thing, most of the time quite well

Please admit songs like "Missouri Loves Company" and "Never without you" are quite better than dross like "Gypsies in flight" lol

That last post actually made me laugh I don't hate Gypsies in Flight. Certainly not as much as Hey Baby and Spooky Weirdness and such... but I'll actually admit to that. I do enjoy Missouri and Never Without You more than that.

Thank you and good night PS: Spooky Weirdness is not a song, just a bunch of noises.

Hence why I dislike it. It's the biggest waste of time to ever be released on a Ringo Starr album. If it helps, there's really only 3 songs that I truly dislike from Rotogravure. 3 dislike, 3 I somewhat like, 1 of which I really enjoy. The others are either eh or average, and don't really do much for me.

I kind of like "Spooky Weirdness"; shows them just having a good time messing around in the studio, and it's brief, just long enough to be a cute little postscript to the album.

Exactly! Plus you have other 10 songs. Unlike the rip-off album Ringo 2012 where you get 28 minutes of music including covers and re recordings lol
