          Maybe he hasn't because John sings the lead, but that didn't stop him with Mr. Kite.

          Well, if you listen closely, John and Paul are both singing lead in unison, like on EIGHT DAYS A WEEK. But like on that song, John's voice cuts through the mix more.

            John's voice is pulled so far up front it's essentially a John vocal. Paul should have been up front in the main part of the song and John coming in in the chorus. It's got that jangly sound that sounds so of that era! I wanted to say Byrds sound, but they probably derived it more from the Beatles etc. As an aside I have a JangleBox JB3 on order to try and get that sound

              John's voice is up front because it sounds better like that on that song. Again, like on EIGHT DAYS A WEEK. It would have weakened the track to have Paul's voice up front on those songs. To show I am not being biased, DAY TRIPPER is a John song, but Paul's voice is up front in the mix, even though both he and John are singing on it. It sounds better with Paul up front on that one. I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND is a more balanced mix and sounds great that way. Paul had a wider vocal range than John, but John's had more passion and emotion. Paul could do it when he wanted, ie SHE'S A WOMAN and OH DARLING, but John did it better.

                Buy a Rickenbacker 12 string guitar, that will get the sound!

                  I have the same Rickenbacker guitar George had except in a 6-string version. I also have a Gretch Country Gentleman, and an Epiphone Casino (as well as Vox AC15C1X amp) so I'm pretty well covered from the Beatles angle 😉 Figured sans the 12-string the Janglebox would give me the extra edge I need (if I need it). Roger McGuinn seems to think it's the best pedal out there, but he also recommends the Roland JC120 for some reason which was popular after I graduated from college and is not really a "vintage" amp as far as I know. I have a Bolt 60, but that's a tube amp again.

                    Very cool! I had a Rick 12 string guitar, the 330 I believe, but that neck was so think, I could not chord on it. Now I have a Taylor 356e which is beautiful! But I am not yet convinced about THAT neck, which feels a little wide to me. We shall see!

                      It was probably a Ric 360 12-string. Beautiful guitar! I want one of those, it's just a 12-string is a bit less versatile. Next one The one I bought is a Rickenbacker 350V63 -- looks very vintage, just like George's Rickenbacker. I like it! The Taylor is beautiful guitar too! When I last Al Stewart last fall he was playing Taylor guitars.

                        I really like Taylors, they just work for me. I used to have a Taylor T5 12 string which was gorgeous and about the easiest 12 string on the planet to play. Sold it to my brother in law and he will not let it go!! Ha ha!
