The Beatles Mentioned on TV

Last night there were two references! One show referred to "Helter Skelter, the end of days" (Charles Manson reference actually) The other was on The Middle where Brick can't concentrate on his Geometry final because of his girlfriend sitting near him who is his competition for valedictorian of the class. She ends up with a higher grade and beats him for valedictorian. His brother Axl tells him "You're not the first guy to be brought down by a woman" and he starts listing men including "The Beatles...and The Flintstones...Wilma messed up Fred pretty good." Poor Yoko, she keeps getting blamed!

Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) has a new TV show called "The Catch" and the character she plays is such a fan that she has a dog named Paul McCartney!
-
Sunday night on The Family Guy, Stewie and Brian go to India to track down an IT girl Brian has fallen for over the phone. Stewie says, "Brian, we're in India...you know, this is where the Beatles came to ruin their music!" (I don't agree, but it gave me a laugh anyway!)

I was watching Episode 1 of Wayward Pines Season 2.... With tears running down her face, the woman about to meet her demise lauded the achievements of Humanity whilst lamenting the new way being promulgated by the next fascist regime: "We have done so many great things... so many... the Pyramids... Man on the Moon... (an emotional choke).... the Beatles.... It was quite powerful.

I have the first 2 episodes of the new season on my DVR--will have to watch! (was at AROTR and have HOURS of stuff to catch up on!) I'm binge watching old episodes of Criminal Minds (in order) and my 2nd DVR only had about 8% space left, so I had to switch it to record on my 1st DVR!

Two DVRs! I've got it down to 17% free on the one and 54% free on the other! I'm crazy, I know!

The title of the season premiere of Aquarius (6/16/16) is "I'm So Tired; Happiness Is A Warm Gun; Why Don't We Do It In The Road." The show takes place in the late '60's and is about Charles Manson and his followers and the murders they committed (the first season was just everything that led up to the murders) David Duchovney (The X-Files) is the cop in the show.

1984 episode of "Hardcastle and McCormick" was on in the background, I wasn't really watching it, but it caught my attention when Hardcastle was making fun of song lyrics McCormick had written, and McCormick said, "Okay, so I'm not Paul McCartney!"

On that Aquarius episode I talked about above, one of the girl characters says to Charles Manson, "Got a little transistor? Maybe we could find The Beatles." (For those of you under 40, a transistor was a radio!) P.S. They just started getting into the Dennis Wilson/Manson connection. This show is really interesting to me. I was 14 when all that craziness happened.

Nance, you do realise the term "radio" is almost outside the bounds of anyone under 30!!! I would add lots of laughter..... but I don't do ABVs

Just watched the Brian Wilson biopic Love and Mercy with my Amazon Prime (gorgeous quality, commercial-free, no hanging up, on my new iPad!) and of course they mention The Beatles several times. One of the guys says, "Paul McCartney said God Only Knows is the best song ever written!"
-
John Oliver again: The United Kingdom - birthplace of the Beatles, and yet very much the world's "Ringo." (Cut to photo of Ringo giving a double peace sign)
-
Last night, the title of the episode of Aquarius was "Revolution 1"
-
Nick show icarly, puppet interviewing a cast member for a blooper special. "I've only been nervous to interview three people, PAul McCartney, Gary Buesey, and now Gibby.
-
Side note, I'm trying to like Aquarius, but they have too many pots and are trying too hard to cram every event from the 60 s in the show.

Well, there was a lot going on then! I just love David Duchovney's character as Detective Hodiak though. It's trying to be as authentic as possible and doing a damn good job imho. I was only 14 when all that stuff went down in 1969, but remember it vividly. Also read Vincert Bugliosi's book Helter Skelter - very enlightening!

I like the Manson part, but not the Vietnam, black panthers, the other serial killers, the drug dealers, etc... And then the preview shows him on the detail to protect Bobby Kennedy. He's like the forest bump of the 60s.
