The Beatles Mentioned on TV
-
Criminal Minds (2010) [I've been binge-watching!] They were trying to figure out where the killer would strike next. Hotchner: What have you got so far? Garcia: Well, you got your Sesame St. On Ice, your Harlem Globetrotters, your Beatles cover bands, not to mention the dozens of college bars and late-night hangouts frequented by the youth of America!
-
Last time I mentioned this show, it got edited, but here we go: D ick Cavett show from 1972. He was reading questions from the audience, and someone asked a couple of things, one of which was "Do you think you can get Paul McCartney to come on as a guest?" He answered one of the other questions, but not that one!
-
Modern family repeat. Cam was excited that his harp concert he organized did better than "cello submarine" that someone else did,
-
Aquarius episode title last night was Piggies.
-
Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll last night: They were talking about screwing rock stars (see below) and Flash (John Corbett) asks the women "Hey, what about Paul McCartney?" Everybody goes "No!" Gigi says "I call him Carol. 'Cause he looks like someone's Grand-Aunt." (She pronounces it the English way - "Awnt" not "Ant") Flash said he wanted to screw Taylor Swift once and never call her back, then see if she'd write a song about him! Of course Ava had to say every woman would want to do Mick Jagger (not this one!) and that he was "F-able until the day he dies!"

Accidentally watched Family Feud..... "Name a famous John or Johnny". The fact "Johnny" was mentioned and has been part of the news recently made me think of Depp. And a wonderful actor. Top answer. But not one person on either side mentioned the obvious..... Lennon. Remarkably, only three of the 100 surveyed named John. I recall another time when I accidentally watched Family Feud a similar question asked to name famous George's...... and our George Harrison missed the cut. Not even in the mix. What's going on? Am I getting old? Or are people getting too young? Confused. Disillusioned. Perplexed.

Time marches on! Famous Johns/Johnnys are now Legend and Depp. Georges are Clooney and the always popular Washington. But funnily enough, the #1 George on Google is Harrison! For John, it's Cusack, then Oliver, then Legend.
-
On a Criminal Minds from 2011: Everyone was wondering what was wrong with Rossi (Joe Mantegna) He says "Look, it was a late night with Ringo and not enough coffee. I mean, the guy's a world class drummer, but don't think I didn't wipe the floor with him in Rock Band!"

It all depends.

Criminal Minds (2012) There was a serial rapist they were after who would play a different love song for their victims. One was Maybe I'm Amazed. The woman said "I used to love that song!"
-
Criminal Minds again (Feb. 22, 2012) Reid: "In 1969 Charles Manson orchestrated the Tate-LaBianca murders in the hopes of creating a race war between the blacks and the whites that he referred to as Helter Skelter." Rossi: "A name he stole from a Beatles song."
-
Once again, Criminal Minds 2012: Rossi: "Celebrity stalkers are usually non-violent." Reid: "You want to tell that to John Lennon?!" (There was more but it mentioned the killer's name which I refuse to do, plus said that he said or thought something right after that I'm not sure is true.)
-
Criminal Minds, 2013: Mark Hamill's character is putting a big envelope on Rossi's desk and we see there is a photo of Rossi (Joe Mantegna) with Ringo on it.
-
Criminal Minds 11/6/13 Reid and Rossi were in Rossi's (old) favorite bar. Rossi says that a lot of the big bands used to play there like the Eagles, etc. Rossi: "Right over there, that's where I met Caroline. It was a Marine bar. They played for us jar heads." Reid: "What was Caroline doing here?" Rossi: "Waiting for Ringo. Beatlemania was no joke. I mean, it would make the women crazy! She'd write them a letter once a week, begging the band to come visit." Reid: "Did they ever come?" Rossi: "Ringo did, after his divorce, but luckily Caroline met me first. But that's how we all became friends."
-
And another Criminal Minds! JJ to Prentiss: "You could always get another tattoo. Something transformative like a Phoenix...or a Blackbird." Prentiss: "I love the song." At the end of the show they played a cover version of it. I guess they couldn't afford the Beatles!
-
On the Star Trek 50th Anniversary special, one guy they interviewed said about Star Trek: "It was the Beatles of 1960's TV. And if you had to describe the Beatles you'd say 'It's magic.' And take any one of them out of that band and it's not the Beatles. Star Trek's the same way." They showed a circa 1964 pic, ironically just of John and Paul!!
-
Criminal Minds again (2015) JJ said that when she was pregnant she wore headphones on her belly because she didn't want her baby hearing all the creepy BAU/FBI stuff. Kate says "That's a good idea! What did you listen to?" JJ says "Beatles, Bee Gees. Spence insisted on Mozart." (The dumb closed captioning wrote Beetles!)
-
Old Big Bang theory when Sheldon and Amy are first dating, and no one likes Amy . "Here come John and Yoko. More like Yoko and Yoko".
-
Titles of the Aquarius Aug 27th two episodes: While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Sexy Sadie.
-
They were mentioned on Jeopardy again the other day.
