PBS today announced the U.S. broadcast premiere of Academy Award(R)-winner Ron Howard's authorized and highly acclaimed Emmy(R) Award and GRAMMY Award(R)-winning documentary film about The Beatles' phenomenal early career. THE BEATLES: EIGHT DAYS A WEEK - THE TOURING YEARS premieres Saturday, November 25, 8:00-10:30 pm ET (check local listings ) on PBS. The film will be followed by an encore broadcast of SGT. PEPPER'S MUSICAL REVOLUTION, 10:30-Midnight ET on PBS, which continues the story beyond The Beatles' touring years, during the months the band spent creating Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, a groundbreaking masterwork that became popular music's most universally acclaimed album.

I just watched EDAW last weekend for the first time and then gave it to my neighbor to watch. Watched it again last night up close and with headphones on, also rewinding and replaying various parts. It is an incredibly excellent movie to watch!!! Them singing I Saw Her Standing There at The Washington D.C. Coliseum a couple of days after Ed Sullivan was amazing!!! I felt like I was right there in the crowd. What an incredibly intense and beautifully joyous energy there was. They ROCKED that song to the ultimate MAX!!!

I wish they would show THE BEATLES AT SHEA STADIUM! Especially the footage Ron Howard found in the vault! Ron said that he found perfect footage of the Shea Stadium concert in the vault with numerous camera angles!

I'm not sure which vault it was but I'm sure that it was either the CBS vaults under Ed Sullivan since it was Ed Sullivan Productions that filmed the concert or it was at EMI/Capitol Records. Maybe even Abbey Road Studios. I hope Ron Remasters the film and shows it to the world! The world needs to see this historic concert in all its original true glory as it was truly intended to be seen.

Sid Bernstein (promoter of the Beatles 1966 Shea Stadium concert) claimed copyright on the Shea Stadium film for many years, and for some reason it's been difficult to get on DVD, etc. Without a doubt Ron Howard's team would have had to check copyright (Ed Sullivan Productions/Apple, Ltd.) and get permission in order for the Shea footage to be included at the end of the "Eight Days a Week" documentary. Bernstein's organization went to court last summer, claiming they had rights to the Shea Concert film, but the Beatles (Apple, Ltd) won that case last summer. Hopefully it can be released on DVD/Blu-ray sometime in the not too distant future.

Closing titles begin at 50:20 51:05 "The Beatles appeared at Shea Stadium under the auspices of Sid Bernstein" 51:11 "A Presentation of Sullivan Productions, In Association with NEMS Enterprises Ltd. and Subafilms Ltd." Brian Epstein was also listed as a "production associate" at 50:47 Regarding the recent court case http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/beatles-apple-corps-wins-copyright-infringement-lawsuit-1965/story?id=48889808 Can see why the judge threw out the copyright claim of Sid Bernstein's company, since they didn't even own or produce the film... they financed the concert and were its promoters, but didn't produce the film. Ron Howard probably got permission from Ed Sullivan Productions and Apple (successor of NEMS) to use the footage in "Eight Days a Week"... Sid Bernstein's company saw the footage used in the film and sued, thinking since they financed the concert they own any filmed footage of it. -

See post above I'm ok, but have had a terrible cold and been sick in bed all week.... I 'effin hate colds, and everything that goes with it... the coughing, the constant nose-blowing and itchy watery eyes... 
I got it from a kindergartner that coughed on me.... 
am starting to feel better today though. Hope you're doing ok -

I definitely knew that Ed Sullivan Productions filmed the concert and Sid Bernstein promoted the concert. Brian Epstein was Associate Producer. I really hope that the Shea Stadium concert will be released soon. This will be a very special treat for all of our fellow Beatles and Paul fanatics as well as the entire world!

Since this will be broadcast during the PBS November pledge drive, wonder if there will be a special "Beatles Gift Set" that will be offered.. with a substantial pledge... perhaps a special THREE disc edition of the film? Along with other Beatles DVDs and/or CDs, coffee mugs and T-shirts? Just wondering... we'll have to report what the special offers are at different stations

I still haven't seen the Ron Howard. We don't have PBS, but maybe I should look for a bootleg DVD the next time I go to Temple St.

It is out on legal DVD, you don't need a bootleg!

I think the pledge drive was broadcast on a national feed, not local... during "pledge break" they had taped interviews/messages from Larry Kane and Giles Martin. On my PBS station, they're going to rebroadcast the movie about 4 more times over the course of the next month. For the special "perks" of making a contribution they offered the following: 2 disc DVD edition of "Eight Days a Week" 1964 Tour booklet, featuring photos and write-ups about each stop Then depending on level of contribution were added: CD of the remastered performance of the Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl Tote Bag & Mug with picture of each Beatle and "I Watch PBS Eight Days a Week"
