Celebrating the life of John Lennon

A Hard Day's Night a Lennon album???.... And I Love Her... Can't Buy me Love... Things We Said Today.... three of Paul's best. and the duo songs. No. Can't buy that.
Paul had three songs. John had ten. So, yeah, it was essentially a Lennon album. Not sure what to tell if you can't see that.

A couple of joint songs and harmonies/contributions, that you deem to be John songs .... Paul was as instrumental as John on those. And co-written. And co-sung. Hope you can see that. And Paul's "three" songs after the aforementioned will go down, and already have done so, as bigger and better contributions than the sum of the other parts. You seem to be getting a little confused between statistical tallies and substance. Hope you can see that.

You don't think John co-wrote those three Paul songs? Think again. And please read more carefully. I said ALMOST a John album. And I am right. You are the confused one in this instance. Bigger and better contributions? Said like a true fanatic. I am talking about reality, not idol worship.

Said like a true fanatic?... Idol worship?... What the hell are you talking about?.... For your edification, I am Paul AND John AND Beatles..... so don't preach to me about being "confused"...... But I am so very glad that "you are right"..... There and done. unequivocal. Someone pass me the beer nuts.

Sure. Whatever. :

I am presuming that the use of "whatever" means you are under 16. I am going to bed.

I agree! But, the whole point of my argument was simply that I was watching a Queen special.... and it was all about ONE front man.... I was never saying the Beatles weren't four individuals... merely that there was never ONE front man with the Beatles.... which I think is unique in the majority of bands in history.... always a lead singer out front... The Beatles were unique in that there were two guys that equally took the limelight as singers.... Mick was Mick, Michael was Michael, Freddie was Freddie, Bono is Bono, Jimmy M was Jimmy, Sting .... I just can't think of any other band that had two figureheads out front with such equal and powerful presence....

You are correct. I have read that George Martin initially considered having John OR Paul be the lead singer, then decided (thank God!) to keep them as they were. Which was brilliant.

My husband and I went to a John Lennon birthday party at an Irish pub in Monroe, LA. Great time. We had birthday cake, passed around a bottle of Irish whiskey, 74 candles on the cake and we all sang HB. Two piece band played Beatles and solo John songs.

Really liked Paul's induction video of John, into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame... brought a tear to my eye Was able to make it to Strawberry Fields for what would have been John's 70th birthday, a few years ago... Yoko had the movie John Lennon NYC screened in Central Park... it was a beautiful warm night in Central Park. After the movie, everyone wandered over to Strawberry Fields, where there was a sing along. Many guitars and voices from all over the world, singing Beatles and John's songs... a beautiful Love In I will always remember that night especially. Enjoying watching the outpouring of love for John... and I always think of that night and the coming together of people singing their hearts out, in great appreciation of the life and music of John. It was a special night! A Beatles friend of mine was there this year as one of the musicians and just have to say, if you can ever make it, you can really feel a lot of love, in one spot!

"Woman" is one of the best songs ever written and recorded, in my opinion.

I love that one too... makes me always think of John's love for Yoko... it's so moving, isn't it? It's John's Maybe I'm Amazed...

If I had to choose a favorite by each artist, then those would be the two at the top.
