I totally understand Ringo's induction as a Beatle. Can somebody make the case why he should be in HoF, otherwise?
I can't and I am surprised he is getting in outside of the Beatles. IMO - a group like "Chicago" should make it before Ringo as a solo artist.
Good for Ringo, but I agree. The Smiths, Sting, Chic are some acts that didnt make it. No one can objectively look at Ringo's SOLO career & said he is more deserving than those acts. Ringo co-wrote a couple of big hits, but he should get points taken off for some of the awful albums he put out in the 70s & 80s.

Exactly. Ringo is a very likable and IMO the HOF feels bad that all the Beatles as individuals are not in the HOF. I can't think of any other reason he should make it as a solo artist.

Yeah, this feels like the Oscars giving a lifetime achievement award to someone after snubbing all their performances for regular awards throughout their career. Hey, we all love Ringo, but we love him 'cause he's Ringo, not for his great artistic achievements as a solo act. That said, a fun time will be had by all, so I won't object.

Arguments for and against Ringo fall in favor of him. Looking at some of the acts that are in there is just RIDICULOUS. Ringo surely should be in there just for having been one of the most influential rock drummers ever.

I love Ringo. I think he's great. Hilarious man. He is rightfully inducted as a Beatle. But he does not deserve to be in the HoF as a solo artist. I just don't think his cover of "You're Sixteen" and his big hits "Back Off Boogaloo" and "Photograph" are enough... ...especially when acts like Stevie Ray Vaughan, MC5, Yes, Steve Miller, Joan Jett and -- on and on -- continue to be snubbed.
Stevie Ray Vaughn and Joan Jett are being inducted next year along with Ringo...

Amen to that Sgt._Pepper!

We could probably all name people who we think deserve to be in but others think should not. Just as I'm sure there are people already in who might raise an eyebrow or two. The system is already imperfect and damage has already been done. What's the harm in letting in Ringo? Would Ringo's presence take anything away from Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers or Butch Trucks?

"Ringo surely should be in there just for having been one of the most influential rock drummers ever." I think being part of the Beatles covers that point.

Exactly. Micky Dolenz's assessment of the R&R HoF is looking to be more and more true: It's just a private "club," and they let in whomever they want in their "club."

Hi yankeefan7! How are you? He is also the RICHEST Drummer of all time!

The fact that Chicago and ELO are NOT in is absolutely criminal....

I agree 100%. Chicago 1969-1975 was fantastic and unlike anything else out there, not to mention they are one of the best-selling US bands of all time. ELO is also amazing and unique, and was very commercially successful as well. To me, these two bands should be no-brainers for induction; I have no idea why they have not been yet.

Paul has already said that he will be there to give Ringo the award. He also talked about his surprise at learning that Ringo was the only Beatle not in the Hall as a solo artist.

I truly doubt that he did not know Ringo was not in the Hall and in his acceptance speech to the Hall in 1999 he mentions that George and Ringo were not in the Hall at that time.
