Happened to see that today is the 50th Anniversary of Brian Epstein's death. Just wanted to create a memorial thread to show appreciation for his life and work in management of the Beatles. RIP Brian Epstein September 19, 1934 - August 27, 1967

So sad. I often wonder how things would have been different had he not died. P.S. He was born in 1934 and was 32 (nearly 33) when he died.

Thanks, Nancy, I was thinking 1932 because he was 32 years old, that's why I made the typo Will edit to correct that. I wonder too, how things would have turned out if he hadn't died.... maybe The Beatles would never have broken up, or at least lasted a few years longer.

In my opinion, had there been no Brian Epstein, there would be no Beatles! It had to be Brian Epstein, he's the one that made it all happen.

Hi jl4761, was thinking of you when the hurricane hit Texas. Even though you're not on the coast, hopefully you didn't have too many damaging storms! Agree with you completely about Brian. The band suffered such a loss when he died. They tried to manage things themselves, but there were always issues of Paul or John wanting to take charge, and no one knowing who really was in charge... but they loved the band and just wanted to keep things together. I wonder how Brian would have reacted to John's relationship with Yoko, and it's effect on the group. I think he would have liked seeing Paul and Linda together. She took photos at the Sgt Pepper launch party at Brian's home in 1967. I believe she had showed him her portfolio a day or so before and Brian was pleased with it and invited her to the event as a photographer.

Hi LadyLeslie! How are you? The weather has been bad here in San Antonio although I've been in Vegas for a week. That's a long story in itself! I managed to get home while there's a break in the weather. Texas is in bad shape as we speak but we'll recover as we always have. I hope that the weather is good where all of my fellow Beatles fanatics live! Its really hard to say how things would have been had Brian lived. Brian may not have approved of Yoko but I don't think that John would have listened to anything Brian had to say. Before Brian died, Brian was having less say and input during the Sgt. Pepper project not to mention that The Beatles weren't touring anymore which would give Brian less to do. It seems that Brian was not having as much responsibilities in the end which is really sad because Brian was capable of doing so much more for the Beatles had he lived.

If Brian lived, no Allan Klein, no 3 vs. Paul on money matters, and no Apple diaster falling directly on Paul and John''s shoulders. They would have been a much happier group and would have stayed together a bit longer.

No, my daughter and her husband live in the same town as me. His two sisters, their husbands, kids and an aunt live in Houston. They are all okay, but tried to get out and were turned back. The one sister lives in a 3rd floor apt. which is alright. I don't know if the other sister and her family, who live on the ground floor, went back to their place or not.

Brian recognized the raw talent, made the crucial relationship with George Martin, and had the vision to go global. But he was a poor negotiator and just didn't realize how much value the lennon/McCartney team had. The Norther songs deal was a total disaster by not giving lennon/McCartney majority share. That misguided decision has implications to this day.
