Was it possible to get UK Beatles albums in the mid 60s. ..

if you lived outside the UK?? Could music stores special order them for fans when the albums came out? I've alway's wondered that since album versions were so different until Pepper.

Not until the '70's did record stores like Turtle's carry import albums. That's how I got Please Please Me. In the '60's I never knew (until Pepper came out) that there was a difference in the 2 countries' albums. (I was 9 in 1964, give me a break!)

Did other countries have UK or US versions? Capitol butchered the albums in Canada, but wouldn't most British Commonwealth countries have the UK versions?

No, UK versions were not available here in the '60's. I knew there were differences, because I would read all the teen magazines and I would read about The Beatles first UK album called Please Please Me and second UK album was called With The Beatles. The first US album was Meet the Beatles (if you don't count the VeeJay release of Introducing the Beatles. then Capitol came out with The Beatles Second Album. (I was 13 in '64)
