Collecting Beatles Memorabilia

You never know what gem you might find! (I have that Beatles book too!) http://www.examiner.com/article/collector-finds-a-little-extra-history-ebay-beatles-buy?CID=examiner_alerts_article

I have that book, too!!! It's in terrible condition as I have had it for 50 years. I DO know someone that attended the Forest Hills concert that is written about, but have lost touch with that person a long time ago. She and I were pen pals for a long time, living on opposite coasts. We would write long letters about The Beatles.

My husband saw a covered over butcher Beatles' album for $200 in a used record store. I said he should get it. He told me where it's located, lol. Should I buy it?

Sure, if spending $200 won't "break the bank."

I would definitely get it looking at this: (scroll down) http://rarebeatles.com/album2/discog/discog.htm Is it mono or stereo? Stereo worth more.

Do you know if it is really worth over 2K?

It depends on the quality of the cover. Read what it says above the prices.

My hunch is it isn't great quality, but will drive over and check it out. Thanks.

Nice list.

Yes, and if it's peeled/pasted/first state, etc. $200 is probably a peeled cover so it may not be in the best condition, but that is not a bad price if you really want a butcher cover. I wanted one for years and eventually found a peeled cover for under $200. It's not pristine but I'm happy with it. That was also a long time ago.

Years back went through a phase of buying and selling Beatles stuff on eBay, and it was so much fun (occasionally frustrating and maddening) until I realized it was bankrupting me just about, and as though I had a compulsive gambling problem, so I had to refrain. Sometimes think I'd like to start that up again. It was a wild ride.. . one time I wanted to pull out my hair after I spent $75 for a batch of vintage pop mags and turned out all the Beatle things had been ripped out of each mag when I received them It was fun to write copy for the eBay ads too, advertising my wares. That could be quite creative.

Nowadays, you could get your money back. Ebay has policies now about fraud like that.

This is the only item I ever lost. Replaced it years later with a much smaller version.

Also during that intense eBay memorabilia period for me, around 2004, I got into making colorful, creative "Jane Asher" scrapbooks and selling them on eBay. They were quite popular. I remember one scrapbook I made was all Paul Wings 70's period with their wild hairstyles and outfits, and I would cut out and stick little Jane pix on some of them as if she were looking at Paul. I really went wild buying vintage teenybopper fan mags. That's where I got a lot of the pix for my scrapbooks. It was all so much fun.
One big heavy scrapbook I made was all Beatles with some solo Paul pix thrown in. It had a somewhat "distressed" look to make it appear vintage and of that time. One big photo for a page was a color one of Paul and Linda clutching each other wearing scanty bathing suits, at a pool, and I had a little pic of Jane's face cut out and taped to it looking up at the couple and kind of wincing a little, LOL
No one ever complained about my scrapbook creations they bought and all seemed satisfied and happy with these.
I had makings for a lot more scrapbooks but they all got burned up in that big barn fire. (sobs) still wondering how it was that those fires happened.
-
Another full length picture I recall in the big heavy Fabs scrapbook I made, this one black and white, showed Pat Boone sitting in a rocking chair with an afghan spread over his lap, smiling fondly at portraits of the Fabs he held in his hands and behind him, on the fireplace mantel, more paintings of the Beatles were propped up (laughs). A photo culled from an old movie mag or vintage teen magazine.
I had all Mike McCartney's picture books, but they were among the items I bought, sold and traded on eBay. Gone now... I should have kept more of that stuff. Jane Asher's real hair color, I remember, was more of an orange hue; her locks were dyed a deeper more vivid and dramatic red, brighter, for her movies she acted in. That vivid red hair made for very colorful distinctive scrap books.
I still like to go into eBay and look at the Beatles memorabilia fare, but I'm able to restrain myself from buying again, LOL, so far.
It would have remained loads of fun to make more scrapbooks, I think, had all that material not been destroyed in the fire.

That's because Photobucket totally redid their website and none of the links from before that time work anymore. If Photbucket wasn't down right now ai could repost the pic. Maybe tomorrow!
