So John was known as the Rebel, Paul the Cute One, and George the Quiet one. What was Ringo known as? I forgot.

The clown, the funny one. And John was the intellectual one.

Course, they're all actually very, very bright...was it John's wearing glasses that made him appear more intellectual? And his jotting down little humor pieces and writings which weren't song lyrics, and publishing two books of these. He came out with some way out there lyrics during the Fabs psychedelic stints, that read like abstract avant-garde impressionistic poetry. (Paul had some too though didn't he.) I refer to "Happiness is a Warm Gun," "I Am the Walrus" and their ilk, from Lennon. I remember seeing a photo in a Beatle fan club mag of some girls crying because they preferred the earlier straightforward love and lust rockabilly and early rock songs. With the captain "why don't the boys write songs like they used to" or something like that. The "weird" abstruse complex lyrics were over their heads? Or just didn't strongly reach them on a more instinctive basic level, more simple and animalistic, romantic and lovey dovey for lack of more pithy adjectives

John was the Smart One, Paul the Cute One, George the Quiet One, and Ringo the Funny One. Character typecasting mainly due to the movie Hard Day's Night. A bit later during the Psychedelic Era they were called the Four Elements: John was Fire, Paul was Water, George was Air, and Ringo was Earth.

I can see why Paul was water because he always wants to "drink it all in!"

I always thought that Ringo was the crazy one for hanging out with Keith "Moon The Loon" Moon!!! And just think, Keith and Ringo were the best of friends! Keith Moon was the wild man of Rock n' Roll, that must mean that Ringo was not too far behind!

That was during his drug & alcohol stage before he got sober.

Yeah but his drug and alcohol stage lasted for years!! At least till Keith Moon died in 1978. When did Ringo get sober? I know it was in the 1980's.

Didn't the other three go through some kind of drug an alcohol stage? I do not believe Ringo was the only one who went through it. Paul said he was depressed after the break up of the Beatles. Im sure the other three did some kind of drug and alcohol use most celebrities do when things are down and they have nothing use to perk them up. However I just wish celebrities who are in a down slump would try to seek happiness else where besides drugs and alcohol take a walk on a beach, bike ride, go hiking in the mountains or something to clear the head. In some ways Im glad Im not a famous person because too much money can get one into trouble. But Im glad Paul and Ringo pretty much stay off that stuff that they used to do when they were younger. Music and fans seem to keep them pretty busy these days.

Lord, John was on Heroin for goodness sake! (Hence, the song Cold Turkey) They all took LSD, especially John, and of course all smoked pot, and Paul as we all know was a big fan of that! Yes, he about drank himself to oblivion after the Beatles broke up. Thankfully Linda was there to jolt him out of that mess! And yes, Paul and Ringo have both been sober for quite a while. Well, Paul only gave up weed a few years ago (when exactly was that?) Was it before he married Nancy in 2011?

Paul and Ringo are lucky to still be alive. But I guess if Keith Richards survived, anything's possible.

Sometimes I really believe that The Beatles invented the Rock n' Roll lifestyle and not The Stones although The Stones have taken the credit for it!

Im not surprised if any of them still smoked or drank. However I do hope both Paul and Ringo will give it up to save on their health as they continue to get older. I understand that long term addiction to these things is easy to go back to but hard to give up once one starts doing those horrible drugs and alcohol. Im so glad I never got into that. I do not smoke or drink. I never touched it not even when I turned 21. I have a clean bill of that haha Im sure Eric Clapton probably still does that stuff smoke and drink and do other stuff. I'd be surprised if he has given it up lol.
