Got the Deluxe box yesterday . It's nice , although I haven't made up my mind on the mix on first listen. Bass seems uber heavy - at the expense of the drums even .. Also, I though it was meant to be referenced from the mono mix - it seems more separated than ever ! My last gripe is, for ?109 , the vinyl should really be included ! I got the Fleetwood mac rumours deluxe box - cds , DVDs , vinyl -the lot . ?50 or something ?

Not that I want to reopen old wounds (threads)... but did anyone notice mention in that article of those hills in Dakota?..... Not that it proves anything!.... All good fun..... Perhaps we will need to defer to the deluxe version of The White Album next year before we get the definitive answer. In the meantime, I remain miffed I must wait an extra week to get my hands on THIS release.

Overall, the package is wonderful. Only slight disappointment is that the outtakes, for the most part, are not quite as interesting as the outtakes from their other albums. For the most part, the unreleased versions sound exactly like the same final versions, sans overdubs. Other than Getting Better, and the final hum on A Day In The Life, there's not much different here. Also, I maintain that Carnival Of Light should have finally seen the light of day here.... even if it wasn't made especially for Sgt Pepper, it was still recorded right in the middle of the Pepper sessions! If it ever was going to come out, this boxed set would have been the perfect place! One final nitpick, why wasn't Only A Northern Song included at all, as it was also done in the Pepper sessions?

Check this out!
Wonder if those will be available in the U.S.?
I wonder. Very cool cans! I'd love a set of those.
Why does it say "Yellow Submarine Anniversary"???

Question for those who have purchased the super deluxe... I just noticed on the mono (disc 4) version of A Day In The Life (original mono mix), while in the inner groove fade part, the sound on my copy ends abruptly about 10 seconds too soon (doesn't fade). I'm curious if this is a flaw of my specific disc, or if this was a larger production error. I've compared it to my version in The Beatles In Mono collection to make sure I hadn't missed it before, and it is definitely unique to this 50th Anniversary release. Can anyone comment on what they hear on their end?

My copy will be waiting for me when I get home from AROTR on Tuesday!

Same thing on mine. Apparently it just isn't looped artificially like on the CD (recall that on the original vinyl it looped infinitely): http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/the-beatles-sgt-peppers-50th-anniversary-content-sound-quality-discussion-thread-only.663057/page-36#post-16525168

Thanks for the confirmation. My Sgt. Pepper ownership began with cassette, and moved to CD in 1987 and subsequent reissues. So I never have really had the vinyl experience. If I understand, the part included in this mono version is actually what was on the record. It's just that the record looped infinitely before. They had just created artificial loops in the mastering for those of us not listening on vinyl. Never knew that.

Sgt. Pepper box set arrived yesterday...truly amazing!!!!

Anyone know about the change in writing credits on the new Pepper? She's Leaving Home credited to McCartney, Day in the Life to Lennon, plus several changed to McCartney-Lennon....according to this Rolling Stone review: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/albumreviews/review-the-beatles-sgt-peppers-anniversary-editions-w484397

This topic has come up on other discussion forums on the web and, bottom line, no one really knows where they got that information. On my set, the ripped tracks give all composer credit (except WYWY of course) to either M-L or L-M, except for a couple of tracks with no composer entered. All the non-WYWY lyrics in the book and on the packaging are credited to L-M. Others have reported the same. Maybe RS got some weird early pressing with errors?

I received my yesterday, I LOVE IT!

I just received mine for an early birthday gift. I was away for a couple of days and today is a holiday...it rained cats and dogs all last night and today, so imagine my surprise when I pulled up and saw the box at my door Due to some miracle the box was 99% dry. Trying to imagine when it was delivered and how it was dry!!! Called up my best friend for the unboxing...He played the album for me whilst unboxing. So very pleased with it and how well it was put together. Going to watch the DVD first... and give thanks for the dryness miracle. Hoping that maybe one of my neighbors saw it and took it in for me. Brought back many memories of when it first came out and how jaw dropping it was at first listen. Love Paul's drawings and have to investigate which are Linda's photos. With all the coffee cups in photos, I thought of Linda's stack of coffee cups photo!!

What an embarrassment. He's writing the article & doesnt question its a mistake?? Any casual Beatle fan knows that this was a truly collaborative songwriting effort. Why would Paul get 1st author credit on LSD - a clear John song!
