Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band 2014 US Tour
-
Just got tickets for Oct. 21 in Fort Lauderdale. I live about 5-6 hours from Jacksonville and now am seriously considering a little road trip for Oct. 25 Paul show and make it a Beatles week! I couldn't go if it were June 22 (tonight incidentally) but Oct. 25 is another story! hmmm

The crankiest I ever so Ringo get was on a hot night in Denver. Ringo had given me front row seats and a backstage pass. Long story about that. Didn't meet Ringo but met the rest of the band. The stage is quite away from where the closet fan can get at this outdoor venue. A woman throws a rose towards Ringo. It hits him in the face as he turned towards her just as the rose reached the stage. Suffice to say, Ringo was not happy and let her know it. I do not think anybody threw anything else towards the stage at that concert. At a show the week before, I had front row seats that I had purchased. When I stood up, I was touching the stage. I was able to hand Ringo flowers. Those did not hit him in the face and he quite enjoyed them. Thanked me several times. Thanked a young woman who danced the entire show. Thanked the two of us over and over.

I am seeing Ringo tomorrow in Lewiston NY! I am super excited, I haven't seen him since 2010 & I will be seeing him again in Cleveland on June 29th...Then Paul on Ringo's birthday (7/7) in Pittsburgh! It is going to be an exciting 13 day stretch!!

I'm seeing Ringo this Friday and am excited.

This is going to be a bit long winded but worth it for those who may take the time to read! After about a 2 hour 40 minute drive we arrived at the venue (first time there north of Buffalo in Lewiston) we had to stand in line for roughly 30 minutes to get in. I figured we were going to have to sit on some hill far back because of how many people there were. We were able to scour and find a section about 35 feet back from the stage for standing room only! Ditched our lawn chairs and stood directly in the sun for 3 and half hours. Just as the opening act came to a close...Thunderstorms and rain began! They postponed the show for another 45 minutes as we stood in a downpour and lighting struck overhead! They told everyone to go back to their cars, but we weren't going to lose our spot we guarded for hours! ...Finally after all of this Ringo and his All-Starr band (Steve Lukather, RIchard Paige, Greg Rollie, and Todd Rungren) tore up the stage. I would rank this band over the one I saw in 2010. Ringo was EXTRA talkative I think because of the rain and actually seemed to really enjoy himself. Now for the journey home....Well we took a wrong turn and ended up in Canada without a passport, got sent to get our van checked by the border police and then swift back to America and questioned by border patrol on our mistake....All in all a great time and WELL worth it all In my eyes! Oh and I get to do this all again on Sunday! Well except I have seats this time!

Wow, TheTaxman, what an adventure. So glad you felt it was all worth it. We will be seeing Ringo on 7/3.

They truly put on a great show, I was blown away by The All-Stars. Ringo was superb, I was super pleased to hear Don't pass me by ( one of my favorites) and Matchbox as he didn't play them in 2010. It isn't everyday you get to see a former Beatles sing "Beatles songs" and if I have to suffer a bit, well it is well worth it! Haha, now onto Cleveland Sunday and then Paul!!

You must be a diehard Ringo fan! I don't think I'd stand in the sun 3 1/2 hours for Paul McCartney, let alone Ringo Starr!

Haha, Ringo is maybe my favorite fab (well top 4 for sure!) I would do it again, but I was definitely feeling dehydrated and would/should have drank more water...Besides it was a memorable experience. I am trying to stay more in the moment and "drink it all in" now as Paul says!

I walked more than a mile and stood/sat in line for more than 3 hours to see Paul in Piedmont Park. I had my mom with me - she is not as much of a fanatic as me and was not happy at all with the wait. We got rained on at the show too, then the long walk back to the hotel. But in the end, she was glad she came along.

I live in Atlanta and I skipped that craziness! I knew it would be hotter than blue blazes, plus it was general admission, and then of course it rained. I love Paul, but I have to have an air conditioned arena to see him!

Ringo's July 9 show in Albuquerque is fast approaching!! Am THRILLED he is returning to New Mexico! This will be his third show here.

Who's all going to the Detroit show? His first time at DTE in 8 years which was with not the greatest of All-Starr lineups. He refined it for his 2008 cast. I've been seeing Ringo every other year since then either across the way in Windsor or Indiana.

I just saw him tonight. God, I forgot how intense a good vibe can be and it was quite a show. I was one of the three people that danced to Anthem. Ringo joked, "You're the three who bought the album, huh?" someone else said something to him and he replied, "What? You want your money back?" Still glowing from the show. It was so good. I was only 60 feet from the stage. Finally I got to see a concert up close

I loved the joke calling DTE 'BLT'!

ah, forgot about that. Ringo's set banter was very funny and fresh. So was Todd Rundgren's. (Sp). Inviting us to join in....I yelled out, "Don't give me an invitation" People around me heard it and laughed

http://www.freep.com/comments/article/20140626/ENT04/306260187/ringo-starr-dte-concert-detroit I have to say this - Ringo was FULL of laughter and very laid back on Friday night. Perfect weather for one of his best show's Ive seen since first going in '99. I've shared three All-Starr tours with my late father'99,'00, & '03), one with the wife (in '12), once alone ('06) and three with my mother ('08,'10, &'14) - each had their own characteristic but all were full of fun. I saw this exact band two years ago when I took the trip down to Indiana with the wife but seeing them again in Detroit was fantastic (and cheaper). He definitely should not wait another 8 years to come back to the Detroit area although he has been nearly in Detroit in '08 and '10 (across the Detroit River in Windsor). I can see why he loves being with a band as opposed to doing all Ringo songs; although that would be a dream to see. This formula however works for him. He is no Paul but that's what makes it so enjoyable because Ringo is like a working class musician - he knows he does not sell a lot of his recent records but does it for the love of it and to have a couple of new numbers in the live show. The crowd is comprised of a more older crowd than a Paul show but it created a super laid back atmosphere. He played from 7:34-9:45Pm - 26 songs in all. The band was in top form performing extended version of some Santana and Toto songs - they really jammed on those quite well. I think the only thing I would change would be to move on from Richard Page - he has been fantastic but he's been with them since 2010 and has been on the subsequent '11,'12,'13 and '14 shows. I'd love to see Hamish back in or Jack Bruce but I think what you are seeing with this All-Starr group is nothing short of amazing. I hope to see him back in 2015 or 2016; as Ringo will be in his mid 70's still acting like someone half his age enjoy playing to the audience.
-
Going to see him in Kansas City in October. Hope he changes the show up a bit. Would be nice to see him dip a bit more into his back catalog. "Snookeroo" and "La De Da " come to mind.

DrivinFan:
Ringo added a "Hare Krishna" during the sax solo in the middle of "It Don't Come Easy"...as was done on the original take by George!
I saw the show in Red Bank NJ and had a fine time, but I have to admit that the "Hare Krishna" was the highlight of the show for me. I punched my friend in the arm when he said it we were both really surprised. I definitely did not see that coming.
