What's up with the Bees?

so when there talking bee's this does not mean yellow jackets. Lots of them around. However not seeing any bumble bees

Positively positive:

I read in the paper the other day that scientists now think there is some sort of virus killing off the bees, and if it continues the outlook for humankind doesn't look to good. The scientists report that humans will start to be affected in four to five years, because there will no longer be the cross pollinations for plants to survive. The beginning of the end of the end. BEEware.

There is an interesting new study which shows that air pollution is responsible for destroying the fraqrance of flowers: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/04/080410170413.htm this could be a reason why pollinating insects like bees can not find flowers and are dying off in great numbers Peace

One thing we all can do to help bees to thrive: Don't pick dandelions, especially in early spring when they are the primary source of food (nectar and pollen) for bees.

There is a phenomenon that is part of the entire solar system physics, , I encourage anyone that is still trying to work out this problem with the bees, to look into 'Torsion Fields' a very little know physics that imposes its laws upon not only our Earth, but upon every celestial member of this Solar system, if not the Entire Milky Way Galaxy, or farther out than that. It also affects liquid propellents and cooling systems on Nasa's shuttle launches. On December 21 2012, our Solar system passes through the ecliptic plain of the Milky Way Galaxy, and thus, torsion fields will be affected, and cause some major physical changes in our own little solar system. I encourage all who are still concerned about the interruption of the Bees navigational systems, to read this article by clicking on this link: http://www.enterprisemission.com/Bees/thebeesneeds.htm

When I was a little girl, I used to thrill to the scent of my grandmother's peonies each spring, but I noticed last year that the scent had diminished, and this year it seems almost nonexistent. I put a huge arrangement of them on my dining room table, but couldn't smell them at all!

Forgive me bringing fiction into this topic but the latest series of Dr Who has had what they call a "series arc" - a strand of a thought/idea cropping up throughout - about the disappearing bees. In last week's first part of the series finale the Doctor realised that the bees (who are incidentally an alien visitor to the earth) had the sense to get out while the going was good before an impending disaster and was able to use their "trail" to resolve a problem. Back to fact now, it's clear that this use of a genuine ecological problem in topical fiction shows how much this issue is becoming known about and debated. The ensuing increase in public awareness can ony be of benefit. Martin

maybe this will help the bees: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/24/AR2008072403495.html?hpid+moreheadlines info re bees is in the last 2 paragraphs the disappearance may be the result of many factors, but definitely more public awareness could help Peace

Some good news: A cause and cure for bee colony collaspe http://arstechnica.com/science/news/2009/04/a-cure-for-colony-collapse.ars

Dont smoke ciggarettes or burn marijuana around bee colonies. by the way. Anyone that smokes pot or ciggs, you probably are walking around with some kind of cancer in one of your organs. Cigg smoking causes renal cancer also. Kidneys. etc. my wife was diagnosed with it in november 08. quit smoking anything over four years ago. Good luck to anyone who smokes or used to. Good luck to the life around the air pollution created when lighting up.

. Once again reading around the subject I happened upon knowledge new to me - the subject of "bee rentals" - how lorry loads of hives are shipped long distances from growing region to growing region to service the pollination requirements of soft fruit growers. - that can't be good can it? Is that really cheaper than paying an apiarist to establish and maintain permanent hives in each locality - after all there should be a payback on honey production to offset their salary and running costs? Martin
The US government used to subsidize bee keepers until the 90s sometime. They claimed that honey could be gotten cheaper imported and it was an unneccessary expense. Independant beekeepers brought up two big issues: One, bees are rented out to pollinate the food supply (there really is no totally vegan food) and only the large coroprate beekeepers will survive. Two, local produced honey is has many benefits

Well right here (see garden @ blog) the bees are back. Yep, for quite a few years we'd only view anywhere from zero to two bees a year BUT now they are back at about 1/2 pre-die-off population. Stay on groovin' safari, Tor Wait a sec, you can SEE one of the bees in me wee, if you enjoy avant garde feces you may dig, video "Meadow Moon." You'll also view some of our pretty flowers, rocks and thingys.
