This is really interesting. She is sure to explain not to put the pine needles in the boiling water while its boiling or you would be dringing turpintine. But if you pour hot water over the needles then its tea.

Prince Charles apparently supports it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/theroyalfamily/10234231/Prince-Andrew-risks-the-wrath-of-Prince-Charles-on-homeopathy.html If much isn't in scientific study then it should be. I know for a fact that some sage tea will loosen tighten muscles in your shoulders. Thats true I have used it for that.

Dr. Oz explained his likeness is used on all kinds of products with false claims he endorses them--I didn't know they could do that
-
The Dr. Oz t.v. show seems kinda strange, a combo of celebrity stuff and health info but then I've only seen it twice, Kirstie Alley and Steven Tyler (Aeorsmith lead singer) were the guest stars. Oz seems like an alright kind of guy.
-
I thought I heard Dr. Oz say acupuncture really works. Wasn't paying close attention but I thought he said that. Stands to reason it works sometimes, a lot of remedies work at least sometimes on different people. Everybody's different. And then there's the famous placebo effect.
-
I like Doctor oz. I tell you if you heat up some myrrh in some olive oil let it cool. Then put some on a would it will heal dramatically.
-
Where do you find "myrrh"--I associate that with the Three Wise Men bearing gifts to the Christ baby, it was one of their presents--is it an herb you can find in health food stores? And not rare? Thanks for info

I have seen it powdered in health food stores. It is fairly cheap online..It is a resin from a tree in the middle east. Some say it even can cure some types of cancer but you don't want to ingest to much and it tastes like perfume. Mostly used for wounds. Like peroxide. And is burned as insence. Here is a place that sells it online. http://www.oregonswildharvest.com/owh/browse/product/myrrh_gum_powder

Thanks Butter pie, sounds intriguing I still want to grow an herb garden

Dr. Oz is on, in rhapsodies over meditation right now, harping on it. Making the audience try. Pointed out the Beatles were a big factor in introducing meditation to the West. If you're an air head you have long periods when you think absolutely nothing, anyway I must confess to falling in that category. Apparently. I love words so much anyway and filling my mind with them by reading. "If you want to find out what you're thinking, sit down and write." That's true. Even for many airheads So words, reading, writing, mean so much more to me than formal meditation sessions. I took the Zen Master at a major New York zen center, a monastery, a big box of books and he was quite appreciative--perhaps later, the irony dawned on him. Probably right away. He was brilliant.

Here recently I have taken initiative to write down the things I needs to pray for. Make a check list.
-
That's fine, Butter, you're writing... I like to write lists and notes to myself, journal entries, etc. The main thing I pray is "Please let everyone be happy" and I say that upon seeing falling stars too. And "please alleviate suffering" a sort of Zen Buddhist chant prayer

Dr. Oz wigged out or flaked out Monday, I thought. He had a doctor on there who seemed to espouse the Atkins diet although he never said "Atkins" and he showed horrifying pictures of your brain shriveling up from eating even complex carbs, he was demonizing carbs and not fat but even the so called "good carbs." He went so far as to say they'd make you lose your faculties and get prematurely demented (not that everyone who gets really old gets Alzheimers). Acted like about the only carbs you should consume are greens, califlower and blueberries "but only a small handful of blueberries." He extolled olive oil and even butter, and salmon and shrimp...one good thing is he gave the okay to cheese. Dr. Oz said "Wow that's the opposite of what I and other doctors have been saying, that people should eat a whole lot of fruits and vegetables" and don't use butter, and go very lightly on the cheese. (paraphrased)Oz just left us hangin'...so what should we do about this, are we to follow that other doctor's line or else "go mad"? (All the talk about diet soda hurting you and causing dementia really pisses me off--I did read though that Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi and Diet Rite soda have got rid of the harmful chemical and are safe.) And now this I saw on Oz is confusing me. I'd thought all-out unrestrained vegetarianism is a very good thing. Using all sorts of veggies and fruits. He showed pix of brains shrinking and drying out and forming holes. Claimed even "good" complex carbs does that damage, while fat is good for the brain. "The brain runs on fat." He said even candy bars raise one's sugar less than whole grains (????) Shite listen to my privileged ravings-- one is fortunate if one is able to eat anything at all, many are starving to death from lacking food
-
As stated above that guest doctor on "Oz" acted like a lot of vegetables are bad for you (?), harming the brain and I wondered if true, where does that leave vegetarians and vegans? Ha ha, Suzanne Sommers published some misinformation in "The Wall Street Journal" (why did they let her?) and was called on it. She appears to be politically conservative, complained about the Affordable Health Act being "socialized medicine." Yet she only consults alternative and holistic type doctors for her "health" info. Which some would construe as being liberal.

It's ironic a truly fervent advocate for animals cops to having no rescue dogs for pets

It's okay about vegans and vegetarians. YOu'd be surprised at how little vegetables they actually eat.

Nope. They're not food and a lot of people who should know better use them as a substitute for water
-
"You'd be surprised how little vegetables vegetarians actually eat" (KathrynO) --What all do they eat, then? That guest doctor on "Oz" claimed even whole grains rot your brain along with the "wrong" kinds of veggies, and fruits. He was irksome (LOL). Against soy products too. He praised eggs, cheese, even bacon, and salmon and shrimp, any kinds of greens and veggies "that grow above the ground," and he said wild rice is okay. Wild long grain rice, I assume. He said a "handful" of blueberries are alright. BTW, when desiring diet soda I dilute it heavily with water.

Most vegetarians I know live on coffee, potato chips and beer. You can do that and still be a vegan. (That's actually a poem by my friend Barry) Most eat bread and pasta and beans. that's it. Even Mary McCartney in an interview for her cookbook made jokes about being a vegetarian who doesn't eat veggies.
