Paul, Come To Australia
-
Congratulations to our friends in South America, like us, it's been a long time coming and long overdue. Enjoy!!! So in the last 10 years Paul will have toured Japan, North America and Europe often, and now South America. That leaves Australia/New Zealand as glaringly obvious omissions. Will he come here next? Probably not... Why???

I remember sympathizing for Australia earlier this decade. Wasn't a date scheduled for earlier in the decade -- and then cancelled due to a national crisis that Paul felt would've been disrespectful had he played a concert at that particular time -- or something like that?

ignoring Paul...I have been thinking massively about going to Austrlalia for a few months next year in celebration of finishing my degree, was thinking end of March/start april so if rumours that he is going to be there in March become true then that would be amazing, however I'll be booking my trip if I do it asap so just gonna have to guess and hope but regardless of whether I am there or not, I do hope he goes down there, now he has finally played Scotland after 20 years (and we are much close to the usual places he plays anyway) I do hope those of you that wee bit further a field get a chance at seeing him.
-
For all Paul fans in Australia...looks like Paul is finally visiting places that are long overdue. Scotland...prior to show earlier this year, the last time he appeared was back in 1990. South America...before todays announcement, the last time Paul played there was in 1993...the same year that he last visited Australia. I wouldn't be too surprised to hear about an Australian tour in the near future...

Joined the forum just to keep on top of these Aussie rumours! (And to chat with all of you great PM fans of course haha). I'm 23, so whatever this next tour is, will probably be my one and only chance to see Paul live!
-
Hi and welcome to the forum, JB182. I hope you get an opportunity to see Paul perform live! It's an experience you will probably never forget.

Why why why why why doesn't he come? Is Australia somehow repulsive? I personally always complain about the transport, government, education system, expensiveness, lack of being up-to-date and its general boringness, but otherwise it's a pretty nice place to be...if you like sunshine, trees, fresh air and heat. And birds. And large spaces. And nice people. And animals. And extreme weather patterns, I should say, instead of sunshine and heat, since these few days in Sydney have been like winter.

Well, perhaps Melbourne is more exciting than Sydney. My friends who come over from Hong Kong have about two fun-filled days visiting the Blue Mountains and the Opera House and all that jazz, and then they spend the next two weeks looking forward to when they get back to Hong Kong.

Has Paul played Oz, since "Wings" in the 70's? Surely he has?-- didn't he receive a riotous rapturous reception from gazillions of blissed out Aussies?-- that's how I envision it, and Oz looks gorgeous, so seems like our loverly Liddypudlian laddie should absolutely pine to play there again. (?) What gives?? : What's it all about, Aussie?

Suzy you are correct, we do live in a beautiful place, but we are probably just a bit too far away. It probably is very costly but surely Paul could scale down the show a bit to accommodate us Aussies. I still have high hopes for Paul coming here very soon.

But if this was about money, it wouldn't really be a terribly great excuse, cos he's pretty rich already (blimey, that sounds a tad harsh), and, well, the audience is still going to pay.

It's not the money. He has more than all the members of this list combined I once read that he doesn't like really long trips. Since it takes you about a day just to get to Australia from here that could be it.
-
Yeah I would guess he doesn't like travelling that far away either.
-
It takes about 21 hours from London to Aus, (that's going all the way across Aus, which adds about 4 hours onto the flight). So we can say about 18 hours, it takes 16 to get to South America from London, doesn't seem to stop him

I think over the last few decades Paul's record sales have dipped drastically across the globe, none more so than in Australia, could this be a reason why he's ignoring it.I wonder whether his lamentable excuse to cancel the last Aussie gig has also contributed to his downfall.I think if he can play shows in America after 9/11,he can play in Oz after the Bali bombings, that's just my view.

Hi, I forget there are all these youngun newbies on here ) Paul tried to come here in 2002, he had two nights booked in Melbourne, the prices were around $500.00 to sit down on the field, Aussies arent really used to paying that for a rock concert, so he couldn't sell out one night let alone, two, the ticket sales were dire, he .. or MPL pulled out citing the recent Bali bombings and that it wouldn't be respectful to play here, even tho Bali in not part of Australia, the fans and media saw through this reason and he was ridiculed, mocked and pilloried at the time, it was a shameful act using that as an excuse when it was really a matter of pride and economics. Strange and and unanswerable and insulting fact, Paul played in Madrid only a couple of weeks after the Madrid bombing .. care to answer that one Paul?. I hope he does come back down here, all is pretty much forgiven, at least with the big fans, but i'm curious about the memory's of the general public who were stung with lost airfares and accomodation, the bigger questions is, can Paul's pride and ego let him try to come back here? and risk having the media throw all this back in his face. Greg xoxo

I didn't know that Is there some new rumours or better new informations regarding some gigs in Australia ?

I'm sure he'd sell out a few shows this time around if the tickets weren't quite so expensive. They don't have to be cheap by any means, but maybe a little less?
