new anti-fur message from Paul
-
A new anti-fur message has popped up from Paul Mc. on the home page of his site. It's so awful, all the animals suffering and being killed for their prized pelts, I especially hate to think about chinchilla farms and such. It's good of Paul to bring this issue up again. Nature can be so cruel to animals, too-- It still feels much worse when humans exploit the innocent beasties, which are just following their natural basic instincts, while human animals know better, or they should. I saw a big spotted dog with floppy ears running around beside the road two different times and feared somebody dumped it out their car to get rid of the creature. But a farmer told me the dog belonged to someone he knew, and was just "running around in the woods looking for something to kill." A trained hunting dog, I guess. I said well then I guess I shouldn't have felt worried about the critter and felt sorry for it.

why do activist attack fur more then leather? It's easer to harrass old ladies and rich women then bikers. Leather is still cheaper then most of Stella's clothes. Know what we call fur coats in Detroit? Rats. My boss will say to me, Kathryn, please assist that customer. the one wearing the rat.

I haven't read the article yet...but Paul boycotted China once for using the fur of dogs. They were being skinned alive & 'dogs' are something we keep in our homes. So that does make an impact on people .

Nature is a harsh mistress, suzy. Those buzzards were doing a service cleaning up the carcass. trust me, I've seen deer carcases weeks old and it's worse...

Kudos to Paul for doing that. Suzy, that's horrible that you had to see that. I've seen a lot worse. It made me throw up. Wearing fur and leather are out IMHO. There are alternatives such as fake/faux fur and leather. I'd rather have Stella's clothes too, than ones made out of leather.

I removed the lurid description of the buzzards and the deer. I didn't feel comfortable putting that image in others' minds, but thank you for the commiseration. It did help at first to share that sight, but then it felt worse to share it. You can suddenly see horrible things in the countryside, but the prevailing surrounding beauty more than compensates and of course, you never know what you might see in a city, as well.

Poor rats. I`ll think you find most activists also campaign against leather. Paul does not wear leather. It`s "normal" people who differentiate. However, Respect for Animals is a charity which campaigns against the fur trade.

I'd wear Stella's clothes if they were affordable. Someone once pointed out that my Ren clothing is also expensive, but even my most expensive pieces of leather are half the price of a pair of skimpy sandles from Stellas. and my clothes have a lifetime guarantee. a few of my pieces are old enough to hit puberty. Like I said, she needs to offer affordable alternatives.

...after some of us read it already. I understand it was gross but what would you rather have? A rotting carcase or it getting eaten and cleaned up naturally? This is just nature at work doing its job. If I die, I wouldn't mind getting eaten by buzzards as long as I am dead when they eat me. (I've nearly been so I know how it feels).

around here, public works comes & picks up the 'street pizza'. Actually, they *are* working on a law to let people take the dead animals home but I don't remember where I heard that & nothing comes up on google right now.

There was a case of a raccoon that was in the middle of a busy road for days and even had a yellow stripe painted over it. this was about 8 years ago.

the more I think about this, the more I realize that Paul is trying to play up women's insecurities in calling them all ugly for wearing fur. I don't like this. I'd rather call their fur 'rats'. It's a lot less mean, Paul. (and don't let your religion be an excuse for bad behavior)

IMHO Paul is sending a positive message for people not to wear fur. He's an advocate for the environment and I support him fully. ?Fashion is an important industry. It can be creative and beautiful but it also has an ugly side. Those designers and retailers that use and sell real fur have the blood of the animals killed for that fur on their hands. It is the demand for fur, created by the fur industry, that causes so much animal cruelty and it?s all so unnecessary. No one needs to wear fur and no one would suffer or die if the commercial fur trade was to disappear. There are alternatives to fur and fashion designers can and should use their artistry to come up with designs that do not use this cruel product. I am so proud that my daughter Stella ? who is a great designer ? has shown the way and uses no fur in her collections. Remember, as Respect for Animals says: ?fur is worn by beautiful animals and ugly people?!? What he has said here is very eloquent. Kudos to you Paul for saying this.

Of course he isn`t. That expression has been in existence for years. I have a bag which I bought in about 1984 which says that, and it was the title of an anti-fur video made, in the 80`s, by Davis Bailey. As many men wear fur as women - it`s particularly popular with rap artists. Now, tell me Paul is racist too. No, he just doesn`t like cruelty to animals, pure and simple. You must get some posh people in your shop. I rarely see anyone, of any sex, colour or creed, wearing fur in my neighbourhood.

She said "I know what it's like to be dead. I know what it is to be sad" And she's making me feel like I've never been born. I said "Who put all those things in your head? Things that make me feel that I'm mad And you're making me feel like I've never been born."

Paul wasn't speaking of woman, Kathryn he said ugly people and that has been a saying around for awhile. as for Stella, she doesn't have to make more affordable clothes, there are plenty of options around for all budgets. I can't afford her clothes, never did I think I was entitled to have them. good for Paul for revisiting this. Winters have gotten colder around where I live, fur wearing is up. Ive noticed it more than previous years
