Macca's Tude about Snakes Helps
-
I freaked when I saw a snake in the yard recently, felt creeped out--if it had been black or green I could have stood it better somehow but it was an odd muddy brownish color--only the second time I have spied a serpent out there (saw a baby black snake trying to get in the mailbox once). I remember Macca's remark it's such a blessing, special, to see rattlesnakes and I thought tha sentiment could perhaps be extended to other varieties of reptiles. It's part of nature. Now when I'm in the yard sometimes I say "Hay creature feature where are you today" or "Hey Beany and Cecil" as if it was a sea serpent. My niece once or twice posed with a snake draped around her shoulders. A yellow and white one. She obviously isn't creeped out by the cold slinky critters.

My kids, their dad and I did that with a python in Las Vegas in 2001 (kids were 14) and had pics taken!

At the National Rainbow Gathering in Alabama in '93, I was naked when a guy's snake named Snakezilla coiled over me and a cop asked if he could take my picture. Where else would I be able to walk up to a cop wearing nothing but a snake?

and Suzy, you described a very good way to handle it. I've had to do it with spiders and insects
