Maccaboard: Now We Are New!
-
Funny that I can't add to my previous post like you could at the old board. No one has posted after me...why can't it be edited. So even if you come back the next day to change a post you are not allowed to?
I can't delete any PMs that I indicate I want deleted. They still show up.
-
Had I known my old PMs were going to disappear, I would have saved them.
Some were from people who are no longer with us in real life. Found archived PMs. I had no idea every PM I ever sent would still be here. Better than them all being gone, but.....
I like to see posts since you have been gone, not the entire forum full of things I am not interested in.
So far, I have not seen much I like.

Yeah, you can only edit a post for 30 minutes after you post it!
Try again to delete PMs. It worked for me. BUT, nobody is answering our questions here! (I mean Mods or Admin)

HEY, EVERYBODY OUT THERE! We're pleased to announce we will be relaunching the Maccaboard very soon! We wanted to let you know in advance that the Maccaboard will be unavailable for a short period of time while we give it a tune it up. We've taken all of your posts and messages and brought them into PaulMcCartney.com, both in location and design. Along with the look of the site, we've updated many of the nuts and bolts behind-the-scenes but kept the greatest hits! We'd love to hear your thoughts when it launches. More news coming soon... All the best! PaulMcCartney.com
Hi! Nice new design but where have the Brian and Rusty threads disappeared?
-
I PMed Triplets Love Paul and she said she is hoping Admin with address our issues and give us answers soon.
Maccascruff, I know what you mean. I had saved a bunch of old PMs in my Inbox and now they are mixed up within the Archived section! Would take days to find them!!

Hi! Nice new design but where have the Brian and Rusty threads disappeared?
They are under Rock Show forum. (I used Spyglass link at top right to Search)

Pretty cool! I'll miss the old layout...been using it for nearly a decade now. But this is much more modern in appearance and approach, so far I haven't had any problems. Keep up the good work!

When I click on the Rock Show forum I can't see or find them. On the old board they used to be on the first page.

So, this has been up for a day apparently. One thing that needs to be addressed is the redirect from the old URLs. I've been clicking on one of my old bookmarks which redirects me to the maintenance page. Had I not thought to click the Maccaboard link (not sure why I did - I was sure it would just lead me to the maintenance link) I wouldn't have known it had come back.
The other thing (that I see has already been discussed) is the thread sorting. At the minute, it's sorting by 'Newest First' which actually means it's sorting the newest created threads as opposed to newest post. This is very important.
I don't want to come across too negative but I feel this whole thing would have been better done during a Macca quiet period such as in November when there was no touring or over the new year while he's doing family stuff. Doing it less than a week before a major run of concerts could potentially take away a valuable resource, especially if, as I said I did in my initial paragraph, you weren't aware the forums were back online. I could potentially have two tickets that need to be resold (I'll know on the weekend) and I'd much rather go here before anywhere else and I wouldn't know elsewhere to look for advice and perhaps events (limo-watch etc.) leading up to the concert since I'm a McCartney virgin (ahem) as a lot of us probably are given the last time he was here was in 1993.
I get these things take time and work but it seems poorly planned and executed badly. Sorry if I've been too harsh.

Do a search for them. Until they FIX THIS! Use the little spyglass & seach for specific thread.

Yeah, I wish some mod or admin would at least say...yep, working on it. Didn't this happen when they launched the PMC club? I don't like that all the notifications are under Dashboard. What? Are they all gonna be there forever?
I can't find some threads (probably like the Rusty & other threads too) because they are being sorted by the original date of the thread not by the current post. *rolls eyes*

It's not locked. I just posted "test" on the Rusty thread.

I can't figure out how to quote properly, but this is another person's post. This is a big problem.
I have been clearing out physical and virtual things in my life. I came across where I paid money to be a pioneer. Remember that fiasco?
It's almost insulting that nobody is responding to the questions asked here.

Everything seems to need attention. I too wish that someone would at least respond. It has been more than 24 hours.

Just have 4 issues that need fixing and addressing
1. As others have said, would be nice if the posts were sorted.... threads with the newest posts should show up at top. It's taking a long time to find new comments when they're not sorted.
2. The YouTube imbed button works at time of posting, but after a certain amount of time reverts back to just showing a link.
3. Quoting works when quoting another person's post, but if you're posting a link to a news item and want to make quotes from it, the [quote] and <blockquote> codes don't work....
4. Still haven't figured out how users can be "invisible"... if someone else has figured it out let me know
I filled out a "Provide Feeback" form, from tab at right.. hopefully others will too... maybe it's possible they're looking at the feedback forms, that go to them directly, more quickly than the posts we make here?
-
I've noticed a couple of other issues that are more inconveniences than anything else.
1. There needs to be a page button at the top of each thread page. Now that everything takes up so much more space, it takes a long time to scroll to the bottom and hit last page. What I'd love to see broght back is the 'go to first new post' feature or whatever it was called.
2. Once the forum heats up again, those massive pictures of who's online are going to become very inconvenient. It would be much better to have very small versions with the person's name appearing as you hover over it.

First go to Rock Show, then where it says ANY, change that on the dropdown box to 7 days or 2 weeks or one month and you should see the threads. Also click Newest First. I promise you, they are there.

You are definitely in the minority.

I have many of the same suggestions as have already been posted. I don't post a lot but read the forum avidly and for me the most important issues are the thread sorting which is VERY poor at the moment, the page numbering is also needed at top of post, and the amount of real estate each post "window" takes up. Scrolling, scrolling, scrolling.....
Have already filled out a feedback form and suggest others do the same so that the issues are (maybe) more quickly directed to those who can do something about them.
Changes so far have been frustrating but I'm really glad the maccaboard is back.
