A Big Thank You From PaulMcCartney.com

Hm. I can appreciate that changes happen and improvement is what it is. However I just purchased my premium membership at the site only ONE month ago. Now my premium membership is no more. Seriously? One month and boom, gone. Sad about that. I barely got a glimpse of the features and now they are gone.

I think somebody like you has more of a grievance than someone like myself who's had 11 months of "premium membership", it's not been handled very well at all. As i said earlier on in the thread it's the lack of communication with the members that rankles with me.

Agreed. A membership of one month is really not very long! seriously! I did at least receive my membership pkg in the mail which included a t-shirt and print, and a few buttons. Plus the membership gave me an early in to buy tickets to the show in Vancouver. For that reason I don't count it as all bad. I got good seats so I am really happy about that. This year has been really good to me.

This whole situation is disgusting. Premium members should be refunded immediately. All we got for our money was a lousy T shirt, lithograph and guitar picks. And now we are being fobbed off by some sort of 'goodie' bag? Keep your free download of Live Kisses. We should be given free DVD/Blu Ray copies AT LEAST. Shame on you MPL. The biggest McCartney rip off to date.
-
I have to agree on the t-shirt. When I got it I thought, what.. that's all they could think of to put on the shirt? really? not even a photo? or something? The litho was kind of blah, also agreed. I already watched Live Kisses, on itunes live. So yeah I don't need to download it, although I did enjoy it.

You REALLY feel as though you got value for money?? Honestly? If so, I have a bunch of photos of McCartney you can come and have a look at for $60 if you want. I mean, you can't KEEP them or anything and I'll only let you look at them for so long before I either show them to everyone else or take them away, but never the less... Also, I'll let you play the albums you undoubtedly already own on your pc if you like.

In my final statement of cynicism: I hate to "go there," but I'm wondering if the Premium Membership charge was the strategy to cover the costs for the BETA phase. We paid for their test-marketing expenses. It sorta' feels that way, but I'm not convinced. This will blow over, and I'll go on lovin' Paul -- but, man, what a bummer this whole thing has turned out to be. I think they're gonna make it up to us. -live-streams of shows -portals to purchase past concerts via download -occasional free downloads of rarities or other unreleased music These will generate huge activity at the site. I'm not expecting a refund -- although every person who purchased a Premium account in the recent past is entitled to one.
A valid point that I'd not considered--at least they took our money for a reason in that case, instead of just lining already-deep and fat pockets.

Am I the only one who actually liked those t-shirts?
No, I definitely like the t-shirt. The rest of the membership package "goodies"? Not so much. However, I'm definitely not someone who would have paid $60 for that shirt.

Nope, I really like those shirts too. Actually, I liked the whole membership package. I was so excited to open that package when it arrived! I also liked the area on the website where you could review all the concerts (cities and set lists) for each touring year and add yourself if you attended a particular date. I had hoped they would eventually add more details like photos (maybe some fan photos), clips, press clippings, fan memories, or memorabilia.
I really like the poster that is now, no longer being distributed. And those^^^^ were some of the best features of the site. No more FAVORITES or, I WAS THERE buttons.
They seem to be getting rid of any and all fan interaction on the site. Everything that allowed us to add personal touches to the site is now gone.

For what it's worth, I'll add my voice to the discussion. I also feel ripped off, and disappointed. The premium content was always extremely scant, the shirt and buttons, etc. were very ordinary, and why on earth would I need a virtual jukebox when I already own every album? I feel as though I was promised great things, and ultimately these promises were unfulfilled. Not only do I feel like I wasted money on this, but I also bought the Ram box, so I didn't even need to buy the initial premium membership. I could have gotten this amazing beta membership for free. Shameful.
-
How hard would it be to put some truly rare extras on the site? But they never materialized. Give me a big fat break. :
-
When I purchased the premium membership I las hopping to have much more information, videos, music downloads and more but It wasn't... So, I hope we can have much more benefits than the rest
-
I think the fact that they were giving away memberships with the RAM box probably complicates things. I'll bet they have no record of which members paid the $60, and which simply bought the RAM box (like me), so refunds would be tricky. However, getting my membership that way apparently did not result in being a full member, because I never got any T-shirt or guitar picks or any of those things, but I did like getting the hi-res downloads, and Rude Studio was cool (if a bit buggy). The other perks on the site itself didn't really appeal to me that much. This was definitely handled sloppily (as was the Chaos and Creation remix contest in '05), so I've certainly lost some faith in Paul's ability to oversee these things, or at least to employ people to do a good and consistent job at it. I still feel stung by the deluxe CD of KOTB not having the two bonus tracks, as well as the fact that the bonus download of the live performance was only four tracks instead of the whole thing. Anyway, it looks like Paul has chosen to keep things simple on the website and minimize the chances of something going wrong in the future. Plus, the Spotify deal negates the Jukebox, I'm sure. It sucks, but I'm guessing we'll forgive him eventually!

Baby, I'm amazed...

I understand the old website has gone. I really liked it and was a regular visitor, but I'm sure the new website will be great! I can't login with my old details to chat to other fans. My profile has gone. I really liked that. I was able to contact another fan on FB and she said I should join the message board! i have registered and this is my first reply....not totally confident I'm doing the right thing!!
