That's what I think. I'm kind of trying to decide who's the best of them all so I'm compiling their best performances. Only live performanes. And here's some... lots of them. If I have come to a conclusion is that in slow songs the best is Freddie, then Elvis, then Paul. And in fast songs the best is Paul, then Freddie, then Elvis... and overall I'm kind of the best is F, then P, then E... anyway... enjoy F - Don't Stop Me Now

      E- If I Can Dream
      P - My Love
E- Baby What You Want Me To Do
      E- An American Trilogy
      P- Shake A Hand
      P- Yesterday
      F - Radio Ga Ga
F- We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions
      P- Beware My Love
      F- The Hero
      F. Somebody To Love
      P- Lonesome Town
      F- Save Me
      F- Sheer Heart Attack
      F- Jailhouse Rock (yeah, F not E..)
      P-Kansas City
      E- One Night
E- Trying To Get To You
      P- Only Love Remains
      P - Let It Be
      P- I'm Down
      P- Long Tall Sally
      F- Bohemian Rhapsody

Well, Stevie Wonder is kind of one step away from those 3 for me... he's the best at "his style" though.

What about Roy Orbison...sings like an angel Or Chris Issak, for that matter...he sounds like Roy Orbison Art Garfunkel's got him one of those angelic voices (sigh) too. Andrea Bochelli...course he's opera, so out of the rock running I reckon Heck fire, among country artists, even Larry Gatlin and Vince Gill have got some velvet vocal chords

In 1977 I debated with a friend who was the better singer, Paul or Roger Daltrey. I played her Maybe I'm Amazed from Wings Over America. At that time I thought Paul was the greatest singer who ever lived...The remaster of Rockshow brought it back to me again last night when I watched him sing Maybe I'm Amazed on the Bluray. It gave me chills. The passage of time only reinforced it. Paul IS the greatest singer who ever lived!

For me John Lennon, Roy Orbison are kind of a step below Paul, Freddie and Elvis, just like Stevie. Only in Paul, Freddie and Elvis there's the "what the heck was that?"factor. lol Andrea Bocelli and any "opera singer" I know are also below, even when they don't sing in a operatic way. Actually those 3 (Paul, Freddie and Elvis) can or could sing opera and did it sometimes... Exhibit one, Andrea Bocelli singing Hey Jude... 0.33... end of the discussion, I think

When I say Stevie is the best "at this style", I mean kind of like this, We Can Work It Out, White House 2010
but no way is as good as Paul, just like Art Garfunkel is great doing "some things" but that's all, or kind of like Orbison... For instance, Paul can "adapt" and turn into similar to Stevie in Stevie's style like in What's That You're Doing but Stevie can't turn himself into something like Paul in Paul's style or so... It's kind of if we said... "Magic can dribble like Jordan but Jordan can't pass like Magic" (I don't know much about basketball, I'm just figuring out some example that probably will not be right...) talking bout John... this doesn't mean that John couldn't sing his heart out and was terrific, probably the best on mainstream, at certain kind of "desperate" songs... It was "his thing", that's why he wanted to sing Oh Darling. But as the "total package", the "overall"... I've found this Elvis a capella vocals (or almost) from If I Can Dream
I can only imagine Freddie doing that song in a better way (sort in a In My Defence way), not even Paul or the rest of mainstream singers wait a minute.... In My Defence, Freddie (semi a capella)
now a LOT of "what the heck was that?" factor, Paul a capella Monkberry Moon Delight

this is kind of my point... Paul can turn himself into "a Roger Daltrey", and I don't mean impersonation... I mean Paul could do the rockers of the Who as great or better than Roger (just like Helter Skelter)... but Roger wouldn't do justice to Let It Be, Yesterday...

btw I was listening to this one and interested in the different ending when I thought "What the heck is that?" at the very end Killer Queen a capella 2.18!

I have a random memory of seeing Gatlin on The Pat Sajak Show in '89 or '90, and I learned what tremendous singer he is. Had no idea.

talking bout Paul operatics... and that's when his voice was in his all-time worst... just listen to the other songs he performed at that "session"... O Sole Mio, Paul's way... lol

I love 0.14, Paul's using his hand to guide his vocals, just like Freddie or Mariah Carey...

talking bout operatics... probably the most difficult operatic thing/exercise is called "messa di voce"

I don't know... here's lots of that, specially at the most quiet parts of the song Elvis - An American Trilogy
