Day-ummm...some S.O.B. shot his son "four times" (the son thankfully survived) just for singing a country song over and over for karoke that the father hated (It didn't tell which song) Obviously there had to be a lot more behind such an atrocious violent act than just that, a lot of history--or that unlucky guy's old man might just be an absolute devil whose demons suddenly got out of hand and utterly possessed him

Willie Nelson is cool.

Alan Jackson is another country music star whose voice I find way too deep. And his songs can be so cheesy and cornball..."Don't Rock the Jukebox" is his best one, I think. It's pretty good. "My heart ain't ready for the Rolling Stones"

Randy Travis was arrested for being intoxicated in public with "an open bottle" sitting in a pick up truck outside a church in a small town in Texas. (Yes, that would be my first choice for where to get drunk) He claimed he was celebrating the Super Bowl : He's another whose singing voice is way too deep for my liking. Not that he cares.

Miranda Lambert was bitchin' about Chris Brown appearing on the Grammys Sunday night, and appearing several times. Must admit I too immediately thought of Brown hitting Rihanna when I first saw him on the Grammys, which struck (pun) a sour note. Lambert's hubby Blake Shelton's daddy had just passed away and he was reportedly devastated. Hearing all that about Whitney dying just the night before might have reminded him. Shelton still got it together to seem to enjoy the show, and got on stage to sing "Southern Nights" in tribute to Glenn Campbell. Seeing Glenn up there I remembered all the hard wild times that wildcat Tanya Tucker inflicted on him, way back when they dated, and laughed and felt quite amused. Be funny if Tanya had shown up to belt out a love song to him

IMO One of the best young artists out there, one of the few genuine talents. Not sure what others think but I am a FAN!

Jasen Aldean and Kelly Clarkson did a great sounding duet at the Grammys, they looked cute together, too. They oughta make an album together. I might even buy it. Thinking about getting Taylor Swift's new one, after that fantastic knock out showing she pulled off at the Grammys with her song "Mean." Considering getting Lady Antebellum's new one. When I looked up The Band Perry and Civil Wars on Youtube music vids, wasn't quite as impressed as I thought I might be based on their (brief) Grammy appearances. Still wondering who the band was introduced by Adam Levine, who sang right before the Beach Boys. I didn't catch their name. Darn it cause would like to look them up on YouTube

"I ain't here for a long time...I'm here for a good time" George Strait's new one, heard it on the car radio...a pretty good ditty

An old fave of mine. The Judds' 1989 version of Mark Knopfler's/Dire Straits "Water Of Love":

I caught "I Walk the Line" Johnny Cash biography movie, twice, recently on a free dish movie channel (sometimes they give you free ones for a few days before yanking them away). Starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. Reese won the oscar that year playing June Carter, but after finally seeing this movie, I think Phoenix (who was also nominated, probably) deserved it more, maybe. He was quite attractive in most of his scenes, which doesn't hurt. The concert in Folsom Prison was moving, and the movie said at the end the live recording of that "sold more than the Beatles." (?) At first, prison officials didn't want Cash to play there. He'd received so much fan mail from prisoners it gave him the idea and desire to play for them. June was in his band then, too. I heard a snippet of "Monkberry Moon Delight" (a country rock song on steroids? Actually it's hard to pin down its style) in a snippet of an Owen Wilson movie I saw, I just saw that one scene, might have been called "Hall Pass" but not sure. I saw the ending of the Linda McCartney t.v. movie on her life, showing Paul and Linda on horseback in the desert countryside of Arizona right before her demise. I'd seen just the first part of it (showing her hooking up with Mick Jagger after a photo session on a boat!) before. This telly film version was a superficial rendering of Linda's life. Couldn't use Paul's music, which would have made the t.v. film about Linda so much better. Randy Travis was arrested again--more scandalous this time, he was parading around drunk in the nude, in public. The boy needs help! Taylor Swift, who is dating a Kennedy, was really dissed by Victoria Gifford Kennedy for "crashing" her daughter's wedding and taking attention away from the bride. Victoria said Taylor acted out of it and quite vapid when she remonstrated with her about crashing the event uninvited. She implied Taylor Swift is a real airhead. Why was I not surprised? However, she will probably grow out of it. (Maybe)

It's always dangerous to get involved with the Kennedys.

I'm a fan. I think she has the potential to become a great songwriter down the line. I haven't listened to her new single, but I'm excited to hear the new album and the song she wrote with Mark Foster.

I saw part of Sugarland concert on Axis cable channel today, a channel which appears to show a lot of concerts and Sugarland said they were performing their new album in its entirety. Be something if Macca ever did that. I noticed Sugarland sang about youths raising their voices to help bring about social change, another song tackled a feminism theme, and other songs involved giving inspiration in times of despair and darkness, imparting hope. All delivered with a country twang, but at least they sang about different topics than the usual country music fixations.

Couldn't find the Doug Sahm version, which I prefer, but here is Charley Pride's original version (live):
On edit: I found Doug's, so feel free to compare and contrast: -

Downloaded 100+ Hank Williams songs the other night, worked out as something like 2p/5 cents a track, worth it.
