Beautiful vocal and guitar on a beautiful, timeless song. The 'wiki' on the song is interesting... The Boxer

So, how's the duet planning coming along?
I'm not sure, I think Oliver is going to try a few things now and then send it to me? Right? Oliver? Not that I can sing much right now with that stupid cold that I'm having anyway. :
I try, but I can't record or listen to anything, no sound here.
It's okay, I'm not in a hurry.
The rock and roll God said "Let there be sound" and there was sound... sometimes is seems that complicated... I've got all the Mrs. Robinson new arrangement in my head, so I only have to record it (Kind of like Wolfy used to say... : :lol. I don't know if you're gonna like it really... it's a bit uptempo with the piano faster than the guitar original beat... I've restrained myself the idea of adding elec guitars and drums cause it would have rockier than it is... Anyway, the paralel thing I'll try to do is Bridge, 95% like the original recording or so. So at least you'll like that.
Hey, I don't mind other arrangements if they end up sounding good! I'm curious what you will do with Mrs. Robinson! I'm glad you have your sound back, too.
Well, I can make the weirdest things with Mrs. Robinson (this sounds dirty :lol. I mean, if a melody is good then lots of arrangements are possible. The biggest example is Ode To Joy, that is great in almost any musical style... maybe I'll put the drums and distortion guitar too...

This is pretty cool. The Final Countdown "unplugged". I like the guitar solo.
Would you believe The Final Countdown was the first record I bought (a cassette really)? And the first thing I've tried to play in my first little keyboard was the keyboards of this song. I didn't know what notes to play, my Dad helped my that... 1986!. The guitar solo is almost the same than the original one...
Yes. 1986! That was good year for music. I just listened to the album, I thought it was great when I bought it, and I still like it. I love the synths and guitar solos. I can't remember the first album I bought... but I think it was Dare by The Human League, that was one of the first ones I bought. Great album.
Yes, one of the greatest things to me, is that I still like the music I liked first. I mean, I was 9. And I recently listened to a lot to that album and I think it's one of the best rock albums ever. One of the first songs I liked was "Whatever you want", I was 2 or 3 or so, and I started bouncing with the riff.... and it's still quite the same. Again and again... Definitely we're not based on what's "In" or not. Some people buys music that they won't like in the near future... then it won't be "In"....

I like this video...
I've got an idea. We can look for the sexiest videos ever and post them. We can even do kind of a contest choosing what's the sexiest one at the end. I thought to do the same with joking songs, or recordings that make you laugh. We can do both "contests".

As I hear I'll try to figure a key for you (and for me, but I don't mind one key or another really...) for Bridge Over Troubled Water. I planned it on G. So the highest notes "like a bridge..." would be C. But as you sing higher maybe A# would be better for you, and less low in the lowest notes. Then the highest notes would be A# and B at the very end, you know. But maybe it could be better higher for you... As for today I would record the thing in A# but yesterday I would have recorded it in G... Feel free to say anything about it. (I know we're commenting everything about the duet on the board, it may lose mistery, but it's a curious thing to read...)

That is an incredibly beautiful rendition of The Boxer, Vlivantje! Nervous energy is making the tempo a little too fast, although.......slow down to where you are humbly and fearlessly relaxed.......and it will be awesome! Edit... You Have An Incredibly Beautiful Voice! Thank You For Sharing This!

Thanks. Funny how you think it's too fast, when in fact I think it's a bit slower than Simon & Garfunkel's album version on Bridge Over Troubled Water.

After listening to it a few more times, I think it is sincerely beautiful and very very well done. You honestly have an incredibly beautiful voice!

You're speaking Chinese to me here. I have absolutely no clues about keys and which would be better for my voice. : When I'm playing on my guitar, I just change my capo and try things out to see when it's "right" for my voice. But that's as far as my musical capabilities go, I'm afraid.

I love this part : "Garfunkel was amblin? around the studio, hummin? and havin? input at various times. " I love that the guy who didn't play an instrument or write the lyrics did provide the harmonies! And especially for the Boxer, what great harmonies it were! It took me quite a while (and lots of video watching and listening closely to every bootleg version I could find) to figure them out, and then I had to try and sing them higher than Art too. (not that I minded watching a lot of videos...I could probably only watch this video for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy. http://www.myvideo.de/watch/1995459/SIMON_GARFUNKEL_The_Boxer_1975_Live))

I thought of the same video first than the Chris Isaak one. I thought it was too obvious...
