Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors
-
I'd say the good news in all of this is that the reason we hadn't heard anything was that they were in the process of rescheduling all of those dates rather than just saying the shows are postponed. I think if he wasn't truly on the mend they wouldn't have bothered.
-
Shows in october... first time since the 2005 tour? Except the ones from october 2013, but that was not a real tour.
-
Good news that they rescheduled. Reading about this still made me want to cry. I've been so worried about him. Sure hope the new dates work out for as many people as possible.

Agreed. But that might mean that the decision to postpone must have been made a while ago, to give them enough time to reschedule all of those shows into something that works for both Paul and all of the venues.
-
I'd say it's good news too. Still doesn't mean he had surgery, it means he wants to be able to be in top shape for 3 hour plus show and traveling. Now we have a definitive start date for the tour.
-
I find it interesting that the US shows were not rescheduled to november, which is when he always tours. Instead, they will be in october, when he is usually resting. I guess that means he wants to keep november free to do concerts somewhere else... either the postponed Asian tour or Europe and Latin America.

Hopefully Europe!

I'd say nothing is definite until he walks on that stage...to a CHEERING crowd. And THAT will make him feel better.

That is most likely true. A lot of juggling had to be done. Chances are he is ready to go now, but was told that he should really take a month or more to recover regardless of how he feels.

For sure. Wish I could be in Albany to give him a roaring welcome back.
-
Gut feeling, nothing more than that he'll get through the USA dates then call it for the year tour wise and get himself 110% fit for hopefully a good few more dates next year.

I know...right?

I read on the Upgrade thread Paul's show in Lincoln, NE was selling slow. I thought these shows were sold out for the most part? On maccareport it says they are mostly sold out. I wonder if that might also be contributing to the postponing of shows.
-
I wonder why the Asian shows have not been rescheduled yet?

It looks like Missoula & Fargo are the only ones not sold out. Although...there are tickets available through scalpers I assume...even for the sold out shows.

Oh, ok. Someone said they tried to sell a front row ticket to a ticket agent to resell in Lincoln and were told they would not buy it as tickets for the show were selling slow in that market. Maybe a miscommunication. Or as you say, maybe they are selling slow for scalpers.

I totally agree with you. I don't know why people get bashed for asking about Paul's health & if the show will go on. : If I had tickets for this 1st show in Lubbock...maybe soundcheck tickets...maybe for the whole family & then on top of that airline tickets & hotel tickets & time off work...Yes I'd be wondering too.
So far nothing suggests he's cancelling any further shows. Until they give us a reason to worry about it, don't.
Looks like I spoke too soon.

My pure speculation is that he will reschedule the Asian Shows for November and then that will be it for 2014. That makes the most sense. Also, I don't believe for a second that he has had surgery as some on this thread are suggesting. He had a virus and is 72 years old. I've been battling a virus for 2 1/2 weeks and am almost 30 years younger than Paul. No way I could do anything strenuous for 3 hours right now. Heck 15 minutes would be hard- just don't have the lung capacity back yet. I think they are just being cautious and allowing his body plenty of time to fully recover. They clearly have been using most of the past 10 days to try to reschedule all the shows in June. There is a fair bit of movement in the tour dates and city order as they had to work with each promoter and figure out a date that the venue would be available. RamblinRed

Looking at the new dates a positive thought occurs to me. The dates from the leg are spread out over a much longer time frame - almost a whole month. There are 2 9-day breaks in the schedule. Heck he plays Lubbock and then has nothing for 9 days. I wonder if McCartney's touring team my try to schedule a handful more dates (3-4) to fill in those gaps a little. Just thinking positively. I like the way you think! However, it could also mean that Paul thinks he was in over his head in retrospect scheduling so many shows so closely for the first time in about ten years.
