Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors
-
If he did some shows with Billy Joel it would be great! In the 70s, Billy Joel was a HUGE star and was even bigger in the 80s. Each one could do an hour, then do a half hour together at the end! That would be a cool show to see.
-
FWIW, I don't think a joint tour is close to happening. I think McCartney enjoys being a solo act. He doesn't even use opening acts, which is fairly unusual. The way the Elton/Billy tours worked. They would start out together for a couple of songs, then would take turns with roughly 90 min sets, and then close together for 15-20 min. They would alternate who goes first each night - but if Macca and Billy ever did something similar i think based on their relationship that Billy would go first. I think its more likely the setlist gets pruned down before something like this happens. Also, just because he had a virus, doesn't mean it had anything to do with touring. It all depends upon how Macca sees it. if he sees it as something that just happened, but has no direct relationship to touring I doubt you will see any significant change to his tours. RamblinRed

Instead of shortening the set lists or doing shows with other artists I'd rather him just do fewer concerts per year (maybe 10-15?) in locations that don't involve the amount of traveling he does now. Let's face it, even if he cut the set list in half the shows would probably still be just as expensive as they are today and I'd find it hard to justify paying a couple of hundred dollars to see him do just about 15 songs. I'm also against him doing joint shows with other artists. The reason I've never seen Ringo is because the All Star Band concept where Ringo only sings 12 of his own songs is not appealing to me at all.

If you like the other artists....than what's wrong it? Are you saying you would go to a three hour solo Ringo concert?

I agree on all points. I think it was just a fun idea someone brought up. No one can know what will actually happen. I've seen Ringo twice and will again in July, the shows are extremely entertaining and it is a BAND, meaning the other members are featured, and aren't merely back up musicians. I also enjoy hearing and seeing Ringo play drums on other musician's songs, it speaks to what a great and legendary drummer he really is.

It's a genius concept really. It's also given me the oppourtunity to see some great musicians that I would not have paid to see by themselves. Billy Squier, Gregg Rolie, Edgar Winter, Gary Wright...to name a few!

Agreed! I will get to see Todd Rundgren this July, I have never seen him and he is a music legend in his own right. John Entwistle and Joe Walsh have played with Ringo, those are cool and GREAT music legends. I remember when Paul was jamming with David Gilmour and some other heavy hitters, I have often wondered why he doesn't put a band together of those guys and play live. Even his 89-93 band had Robbie McIntosh, who was in the Pretenders, and Hamish Stuart, who was in the Average White Band. Wings had Dennly Laine from the Moody Blues and Jimmy McCullough from Stone The Crows. Cool stuff!

It would take the same amount of massive effort and physicality to put together a 3 hour show and only do a few. I think at this point he will quit live performance if he can't do what he is doing now. He may do the occasional show or promotion afterwards, but he prides himself on these shows. Once they become difficult you can bet he'll quit.
-
I can see that. At some point, him just stopping.
-
hi guys, i don't really belive Paul is evere gona stop, maybe he will calm down but not not stop touring. He has always said that he could picture imself taking the stage on a wheelchair at 93 Still in a recent interview he admitted that if something debilitating occourred to him, he'd reconsider the whole thing. That to me sounds like slow down a bit, not stop completely
-
People say things like, "I'll never stop" or "They will have to take me out there in a wheelchair when I am 93." But those are just comments for an interview. Look what a nasty stomach virus has done to his current tour. Imagine when he is even older. He will stop at some point. Like it or not. Nature will make sure.
-
I think there is a good dollop of over reaction on here! He's had a virus - everybody gets them.when he's better he'll resume. Its fairly straightforward. I know I'm knocked out when I get a stomach bug, and I'm 42... It will have no bearing whatsoever on when he gives up touring imo

Well interviews, honest or not, are all we have. All the rest is speculation

Speculation like, "He's never gonna stop?" He was stopped in Asia and now the USA in June.
-
Here's a prediction: He won't stop until Ringo does!
-
Although "they" say he has a virus I'm still a bit concerned after all he's not a young man anymore. What are "they" not telling us?
-
he has not "stopped" for what we know he has "postponed" We won't know for sure until july 5th but i dubt there will be further changes after they rescheduled to october. Sounds like a guarantee, doesn't it?

It DOES?? Um...ok. If you say so!
-
let me say .. the only time he really stopped was in Horsens. What was behind it we'll never know, as we'll never know about the "virus". But after Horsens was cancelled, nothing changed for him. So we'll have to wait and see. Of course we all know Paul is human, we all know what that means. No need to remind
-
What do you mean no need to remind? This is a discussion about tour rumors and recent cancellations! I think the REMINDING has already happened. Now we are talking about it. Whatever. Maybe he will tour for twenty more years.
