Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors
-
It may take a while for the rumors to begin, but once it rains, it pours: according to this link, the same company (Plan Music) will bring Paul (in november) and the Rolling Stones (in march) to a new stadium in São Paulo, called Allianz Parque: http://veja.abril.com.br/blog/radar-on-line/?p=1104340

I'm not sure what people are talking about. Every show this summer has been a sellout. Billboard is the most credible outlet there is when it comes to reporting box scores. They do it for everybody, and have no incentive to spin the numbers in the artist's favor. When it comes to counting every ticket sold and every dollar made, they are incredibly accurate, regardless of what local newspaper reporters wrote.
Pittsburgh didn't sell out. I don't care what billboard or anyone else said, they were still releasing tickets as the doors opened and there were gaps, note: VERY minor gaps, in the seating that evening. This is the over-saturation I spoke of. Paul was JUST there with TWO nights four years ago and had no problem selling them both out. This year he almost sold one night out.
As has already been pointed out, the promoter often releases a few hundred tickets for sale on the day of the show. They did the same thing for San Francisco and others. This has occurred for every McCartney tour that I can remember. Billboard only reports the number of tickets sold, not the number of people who walked through the gates. Like any other large scale event, I'm sure not every single person who owned a ticket ended up attending.
The number of tickets released that would have been for VIP or any other reason is negligible. One thing that sometimes happens is when the staging is finally in place, it is realized some seats that were thought to be obstructed view may not be, and so are put on sale to the general public. It can be difficult to gauge what a true sell out is any more. If ticket agencies are purchasing huge blocks of tickets but can't move them, then yes, technically those tickets "sold" but the public did not buy them. McCartney can draw a crowd! There is no doubting that!
Actually, it's not difficult to gauge. A sellout is when all the tickets are sold, not how many people are in the seats. The tickets sold out, therefore it's a sellout. Sorry, not trying to be snarky, that's just the way they measure these things. It's like when an album goes platinum, a lot of those CDs ( or whatever format) are bought by people as gifts to other people who will never play them... but it still sold, so it counts.

Well, that's lame.

No, it's business. Like I said on a previous page, it's the sellout that matters to Paul and everyone on his payroll.
-
It really doesn't impact me one way or the other. I REALLY don't care. Here ya go: EVERY McCartney concert is a sell out. There!

This has been quite silly. When did it become such blasphemy to admit that (like everyone else) our main man around here has his faults?....

You're lucky if these rumours come true, Carlos. I'm just asking what about Europe, Paul?
Maybe in december, along with the UK?
Hopefully....
Keep the faith! I think UK is a real possibility in December ! Maybe we will see you there
Hard to keep the faith... seems like Paul is doing his best to avoid Europe. That'd be great!

Here in Argentina there are two rumours, one for November and one for 2015 (a local journalist tweeted that it was "confirmed" ) I always find it impossible not to start thinking being there seeing Paul again, damn. Anyway I think that it'll still be the "Out There" tour if it happens.
-
A few more details: the concert in São Paulo will only be announced if the stadium is 100% ready by October, including renovations and legal authorizations. The company in charge says it's 95% ready now and everything will be approved by that deadline. They also say that the Stones' concert will indeed happen there in March: http://esportes.estadao.com.br/noticias/futebol,paul-mccartney-pode-inaugurar-novo-estadio-do-palmeiras,1550574

Yes, I sent that journalist a message last night with a link to the november rumors. I'll ask him why he thinks it's 2015 when all other sources in Brazil and Argentina claim Paul will come to both countries in november.
javilu:
Groovy!
I believe the november rumors are for the same stadium (River Plate) in Buenos Aires as in the 2010 shows. Were there numbered seats on the field back then or was it general audience (everyone standing)?
-
Ola Carlos, The concert at River Plate in 2010 had numbered (and expensive) seats, no general admission like in Brazil.
-
I think the suspension for River Plate stadium expires in November , so with a little luck... we can help it out

So I guess that's the way it will be next time.

What suspension? By the way, that journalist is still saying Paul will be in Argentina next year: "confirmado Paul McCartney en Argentina, en el primer semestre de 2015. Lo trae Fenix".

The stadium was suspended for concerts because they sold beers on an Iron Maiden show, and as I remember it expires this november That's why for example Metallica this year played in La Plata (Estadio Unico de La Plata) http://www.infobae.com/2013/11/20/1525236-suspenden-un-ano-el-estadio-river-plate-shows-y-eventos Here is the link, and yes it was from November 2013- to November 2014.

River Plate stadium is 4 km from my home so I can walk to the stadium. Saw Paul at River 4 times (2 in 1993 and 2 in 2010). So come to River Paul!

Thank you. The article is dated November 20, 2013, but it does not mention which day in november 2014 the suspension will end. Do you have that info?

Nice! My bet is either November 15 or 22... probably 22, as in 2010.

I'm betting on 22nd also. Every year since 2010, one of the concerts were always on the 21st or 22nd day of the month, so... And on November 22nd, 2010 Paul played a sold-out concert on São Paulo, so it will be like a 'remember' from 4 years ago haha

Quite a troubled day in Argentina. I hope they will work it out soon.
