NO 'BIRMINGHAM BLUES' FOR JEFF LYNNE AS HE COLLECTS LORD MAYOR AND SILVER CLEF AWARDS Electric Light Orchestra founder member Jeff Lynne is to be presented with the Lord Mayor's Awards in his home town of Birmingham and will also be honoured by the UK music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins with their Silver Clef Award. Each year the Lord Mayor of Birmingham invites nominations for the Lord Mayor's Awards and this year one award was presented to Jeff Lynne, who was nominated in recognition of his outstanding achievement and exceptional service to the city of Birmingham and its people through inspirational and dedicated work as a world-renowned musician and producer, enhancing the lives of local people and the reputation of the city. Outgoing Lord Mayor, Councillor Raymond Hassall, told us: "The Lord Mayor's Awards recognise outstanding achievements and exceptional service to the city and the people of Birmingham." It was also announced yesterday that music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins will also honour Jeff at this year's prestigious O2 Silver Clef Award. Previous recipients have included The Who, Status Quo, Sir Paul McCartney and Pink Floyd. FORMER ELO AND BLACK SABBATH MAN ANNOUNCES A MOVE TO NEW BAND WITH A ZING Former Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) and Black Sabbath drummer Bev Bevan has announced that he's stopped touring as The Move, the name of his pre-ELO band, and has taken up with a new outfit called Bev Bevan's Zing Band. A post on Bev's official Facebook page states: "The forthcoming gigs with The Move will now not be taking place, however, I'm very pleased to announce that [for] those gigs I will now be doing [performing] with Bev Bevan's Zing Band. George Harrison's Son Dhani to Induct ELO in Rock Hall The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame revealed the remaining inductors for its Class of 2017 with the announcement that ELO would be inducted by Dhani Harrison, son of George Harrison. The former Beatles was a frequent collaborator with ELO's Jeff Lynne, most notably in the '80s supergroup the Traveling Wilburys. It's no more strange than Deep Purple and N.W.A. both being inducted last year or Green Day and Bill Withers the year before.

I always thought people could only get in so many years after their first album. If that's true then either Joan Baez has been getting the bum's rush or Tupac started a lot sooner than I thought.

The rules are the same - eeryone whose inducted has released their first album at least 25 years previously.
