Mr. McCartney has played practically everything off BOTR so why not "Helen Wheels"?
Technically speaking, Helen Wheels isn't truly on Band On The Run, as Paul originally intended. The UK version of the album did not include it. Capitol insisted on putting it on the US version.
What about Mamunia?
Denny Laine is touring Band on the Run in its entirety, probably the only chance you'll get to see that song live

I find the complainers disrespectful and considering this is Paul's official site pretty dis gusting.Paul does not tour for your private needs.Paul tours for the majority, and I am certain that the lucky folks coming out of last nights show had huge beaming smiles. So what there are not any new songs.I thought the set list was neat. And tweeting your complaints to Paul after the man has stood there on stage and sung his heart out is in pretty poor taste..Be thankful he is still showering the world with his gifts and stop being so darn selfish.
I did tweet for him to change the set list-- a first in 15 yrs.. I was under the belief.. this was a NEW tour,...most of the comments here are light hearted as for your comment selfish? - we the fans are the ones who buy his music & merch tix to gigs and travel everywhere to see him in support- why cuz we love him Paul has written so much ****ing fantastic music.. we encourage him to shake it up. so much talk over the years - someone has taken notice and he has added a few Wings gems here & there that were hugely received.. I don't think it a bad thing - to request something new- to freshen up what he seems to play on continuum ...
"we the fans are the ones who buy his music & merch tix to gigs and travel everywhere to see him in support- why cuz we love him Paul has written so much ****ing fantastic music.. I think some people think that his great music stopped in 1980 -lol

I saw Denny Laine perform last month. He did the Band On The Run album in its entirety on a recent tour, but not the current one. At my show, he only did the title track, No Words, and Picasso's Last Words. Plus a nice mix of other songs, mostly Wings, of course.

I just logged in and checked the setlist. The early Beatles stuff is cool but it would be better if he sang early Beatles stuff where he has the sole lead vocal (though that's not much.) I'm surprised there wasn't more solo or Wings stuff to go along with the new box set. I realize half of the setlist is the same and I would be okay with that if he just changed the order, like open with Band on the Run for example. I hope there are more changes by Europe or US in August.

The problem Paul has is he does a "new" tour every year, so it is not realistic to have a new set list and stage if you only have a six month break between "tours." The Stones play pretty much the same set list, but take a few years off between tours and have new staging that retain the main elements. People on this forum are desperate for anything new or fresh in the set list. I get that. But really, there is nothing new here. Except for the opener (I will get to that), he has played everything here on a past tour in some form. You Won't See Me acoustic is not prize over the full band treatment from 2004. Why not do a full band version? They HAVE played it before! In Spite Of All The Danger? A song that he wrote before he was a great songwriter? Just play I Lost My Little Girl next. And ignore What Your Doing and Wait. ok. : Love Me Do is OK, but almost in the same category. He did this with PS Love Me Do many years ago. Not impressive. But OK. Cool. A Hard Day's Night: One of John Lennon's great Beatle songs that Paul had NOTHING to do with. It sounded great with John on the verse and Paul on the bridge, because, although John wrote it, he could not hit the high notes so he let Paul sing that part. I saw a video of him doing it last night and am underwhelmed. Paul is OK on it, but if he wants an optimum impact Beatle hit to open with, why not Can't Buy Me Love, a song he wrote??? Or even I Want To Hold Your Hand, She Loves You, or From Me To You, songs he at least co wrote?? I am holding my breath for him to start saying in interviews that he co wrote A Hard Day's Night with John. : I am glad I saw him in 1993 when he DID play Here There and Everywhere and Can't Buy Me Love, with a much stronger voice. My gosh, it would have been ballsy to open with Save Us, or Helen Wheels. And stick AHDN in the middle of the set as a John tribute to replace Here Today. I would gladly see this show in Albuquerque. But AGAIN, I will save my money and not travel for this tour. I saw RAIN last night and I promise you, they did AHDN better than Paul did.
Oh dear,Oh dear...I simply do not know where to start."Hard Days Night' is a song that Paul has simply NOTHING to do with".?.....really?? I think you lost me after that
Why? Explain.
April 13th, 1964, appears to be the day that the decision was made to name the film "A Hard Day's Night." Therefore, that evening, John Lennon took it upon himself to write the title track to the movie himself. Since McCartney had slid in his self-penned song "Can't Buy Me Love" as the current #1 Beatles hit around the world, Lennon asserted himself to make sure he got the next one. He scribbled the lyrics on the back of a matchbox cover and went to sleep. "John said, 'I'll write it,'" Paul continues, "and he did; he came back the next day with it. I think he might not have had all the words. I might have been in on that middle eight. Something like that would only have taken twenty minutes. That would have been plenty of time to run through it." Since McCartney can't quite remember if he really did have a hand in writing the song, it's more than fair to estimate "A Hard Day's Night" as a 90/10 composition in favor of Lennon. That next day, April 14th, John propped up the matchbox cover on the dressing-room table as he and Paul premiered the song to Walter Shenson. With his approval, the song was ready for recording. So there you ago..Is it a John song..YES Is it possible that Paul had some part in the writing process?..YES Is that fan opinion or the words of Paul himself..PAUL HIMSELF Did paul play bass and sing part of the lead vocal as well as harmonies..YES Is it then fair and accurate to describe 'A hard days night' as "nothing to do with mccartney"....NO
That's a load of rubbish. Paul says he had a hand in every song John wrote. Oh, and he is saying these things recently. He never said them while John was alive. It is a well known FACT John wrote AHDN alone, because he wanted to get the title song to the movie before Paul did. NO ONE has ever disputed that, not George Martin, not Ringo or George Harrison, and not Paul, until recently. John also wrote all of Help, though I will give Paul the credit of coming up with the counter melody in that one. But that is akin to writing a harmony, almost. Paul wrote NOTHING of AHDN. I trust John's account that was never disputed. Even still, why not open with a song we all know he co wrote, like I Want To Hold Your Hand? Ridiculous. This is another of Paul's attempts to try and get himself identified with a John song, like Mr. Kite. Luckily, it won't work. Except with those casual fans who can't tell the Beatles apart.

funny you come on here blasting boardies on their discussion of the setlist cuz we want ****ing changes to be blunt--- - than slag Macca for doing Hard Days Night-- which I thought was rather cool... so what if it's a John song what's your point? - Paul did it and I thought it was ****ing awesome... not like he did a Stones tune.. really? : I rest my case ...

Funny thing is when Paul plays one of his obscure songs the audience is mute. That's the time people go to the bathroom or get a drink. He has even commented as much the last few times I seen him. If Paul did a tour of his solo stuff he couldn't fill the Cavern with the handful of "Super fans". And that's if he was paying for airfare and selling tickets for $25. People would still find a way to complain or bitch. "Wah! I wanted Paul to play Wonderful Christmastime acoustic" or " Wah Paul never plays From a lover to a friend".

It's his own fault. Since 2009 he has toured constantly, so "super fans" get weary. If he would take a break of two or three years, there would be more excitement here and more forgiveness. Having said that, maybe what many are really not ready to accept is Paul does not care about them, their opinions or their patronage and really wants to pander to casual fans who will see him only once. Which seems to be the case.

They love to complain, don't they!? He will never please everyone... Hope he doesn't even read any of this... It was fantastic, there are songs I've never heard live... I'm sooooo looking forward to this show!!! So glad Temporary Secretary was left in... A very cool song.

Oh, sorry. It's the most amazing set list he ever did.

It's his own fault. Since 2009 he has toured constantly, so "super fans" get weary.
But why should he care about the "super fans"? It's a minuscule part of his audience. Quite frankly, I think a lot of fans are clueless as to how badly they come across. I know that I (and probably a lot of people) don't have much sympathy for the most vocal "super fans" who are the ones who have enough money and free time to buy tickets and travel to multiple stops on a tour. Then they come here to do nothing but complain that they're not being pandered to and hear the "same old songs." The "super fans" who attend multiple dates per tour, of who brag about seeing every single tour for the past 30 years, have more privilege than most of hardcore fans on this board - nevermind casual fans - like me, who only have the time and money to see Paul once in a blue moon (One on One will be my first time seeing Paul live in ten years, and only the second time total). If you're sick of the same old songs, then the solution if very simple, don't go. But accept that Paul is NEVER going to cater to the snobs. I think a lot of people are getting frustrated with the attitude here that Paul owes certain fans because said fans have decided that they have to see him every time he tours, multiple dates a tour, for the sake of completion but then whine about it. Paul is not the Grateful Dead or Phish, he's not charging $20 and playing small venues constantly for a group of itinerant followers. He's playing intricate stadium tours with not cheap tickets, and so far, the demand has been sustaining that practice. There are only a few "super fans" who exist who have the time and money to see Paul over and over again, but the overwhelming majority of the audience are seeing him for the first or second time only.

I usually consider the 1st show of the tour as a "dress rehersal" to fix every detail when the crowd is here, and I think there will be changes... I remember when he added 8 new songs in 2010 there was tremendous critics ( Additions of 1985, Looking through you, Venus and Mars as a opener )... I think changes are likely to happen. I'll see him in May so.... Europe leg might be a little different ( this would be the 8th show for me since 1989 ). Always in Paris.

really? I remember the opposite at least here in this forum That setlist 2010 was something like a little revolution.
