It's his own fault. Since 2009 he has toured constantly, so "super fans" get weary.
But why should he care about the "super fans"? It's a minuscule part of his audience. Quite frankly, I think a lot of fans are clueless as to how badly they come across. I know that I (and probably a lot of people) don't have much sympathy for the most vocal "super fans" who are the ones who have enough money and free time to buy tickets and travel to multiple stops on a tour. Then they come here to do nothing but complain that they're not being pandered to and hear the "same old songs." The "super fans" who attend multiple dates per tour, of who brag about seeing every single tour for the past 30 years, have more privilege than most of hardcore fans on this board - nevermind casual fans - like me, who only have the time and money to see Paul once in a blue moon (One on One will be my first time seeing Paul live in ten years, and only the second time total). If you're sick of the same old songs, then the solution if very simple, don't go. But accept that Paul is NEVER going to cater to the snobs. I think a lot of people are getting frustrated with the attitude here that Paul owes certain fans because said fans have decided that they have to see him every time he tours, multiple dates a tour, for the sake of completion but then whine about it. Paul is not the Grateful Dead or Phish, he's not charging $20 and playing small venues constantly for a group of itinerant followers. He's playing intricate stadium tours with not cheap tickets, and so far, the demand has been sustaining that practice. There are only a few "super fans" who exist who have the time and money to see Paul over and over again, but the overwhelming majority of the audience are seeing him for the first or second time only.

Yes. Did he pitch Pure McCartney in Fresno last night? Of the 15,000 people in attendance, how many will buy Pure McCartney? I think he knows the Super fans will buy that CD. Paul has a divided fan base. On the one hand, he puts out CDs for Super fans to consume, but designs his concerts for casual fans. Most artists record music for their fans and then play concerts for their fans. Opening with AHDN shows you what he thinks of his loyal fan base.

And, again, people are buying tickets for One On One thinking that it's a whole, new show. The latter half of it is practically identical to Out There. They are feeling ripped off by Paul McCartney.
Most people pay no attention to tour names. If they saw Paul last year, odds are they are not seeing him again so soon. His audience is big enough that many are first or second timers ever. I have not seen anyone "ripped off." If you saw Out There and have the money to burn, but only want to spend it if the set list changes a lot, then you have the Internet and can check the setlist before you buy. Paul got rapturous reviews for the Freso opener. Compare that to Bruce Springsteen, who's getting mixed reviews from critics for doing a show "for diehards only" and angering most fans because he's not doing the specific songs the superfans want on the one hand, but alienating the more casual fans on the other, so he's getting it from all sides.

That is totally different than what we have been talking about in these posts. We are not saying that it should totally be a show for diehard fans. read my posts again. I am hoping for six different solo songs (not played before or rarely played) out of 38 songs he did the other night. Tthat still leaves 30 or more Beatle/Wings songs. Does that sound like a concert for diehards only - really !!

Just to step in on Bruce here, he is not angering "most" fans. Yes, there are many who are unhappy with this tour because he is not playing certain outtakes or making more changes to the setlists than he used to. But there are many fans who are enjoying the current tour for what it is, which IMO is a stellar performance of a great album as the centerpiece of a 3-1/2 hour show. And many "casual" fans who are enjoying these shows as well because they contain the hits that they want to see, including many of the songs that are part of the album. Basically, I think these setlist debates are the same; people who feel disappointed about what Paul (or Bruce or whomever) is playing have a right to their opinion, whether they have been a fan for 1 year or 50, and whether they have seen 1 show or 300. And people who are enjoying the shows for what they are also have a right to how they feel, again, no matter how many times they have seen Paul. I don't think it is a debate or argument that anyone can win. It's just how people feel and the differences may always be there.

We were plenty close. I'm really Really confused as to all the nit picking I'm seeing, quite shocked in fact. 1. he doesn't have to tour, he does it by choice 2. he doesn't have to let people in for the sound check, it's an opportunity 3. that kind of money is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I'm grateful to have been in a position to participate, this chance never came before and never will come again (for me). I'm completely happy with the entire experience and I have ZERO complaints. Just saying.

I chose to go with a gold seat, row 8, perfectly center. I was very happy with my choice, I did soundcheck once before so don't feel the need to do it again if I can get a great seat at a much lower price. Also, not going to soundcheck allowed me to be at "limo-watch" which was really fun. Smallish crowd (30 or so), the driveway was pretty narrow so he was really close to us and the driver went slow so we each got our moment of eye contact! I didn't have any problems with security personnel, they were very polite and were shining flashlights on the floor to help anyone see if they got up during the show (not me!) Apparently they weren't so nice in other parts of the arena
Some people a few rows in front of me were constantly holding up signs and when someone behind me complained security very nicely asked them to stop. And they did up until the end, but unfortunately I missed the entire final bow from the group due to the signs. I screamed with delight when I heard the first chord of Hard Days Night, thought it was a great opener. Loved the new additions, especially Love me Do. Enough changes to the setlist since I last saw him (last summer in Europe) to keep it interesting for me. Loved the new set/background designs. I normally don't see much except for Paul, but they were really bright, different and eye catching so I actually noticed. In fact at one point I was entranced by the background lights and kind of zoned out, then when I refocused on Paul it appeared he was looking straight at me (this happens a lot when you're dead center). I put my hand up to my mouth like Oh! and I swear he smiled then looked elsewhere. It was probably my imagination but it gave me a thrill. My favorite though was the smaller looking retro stage for those 3 songs. For some reason I got really emotional during Maybe I'm Amazed, almost cried. Being inside, pyro was not as good for Live & Let Die of course. I was disappointed by no confetti (paulfetti). The new "super magic" piano was very cool. It changed design/colors & displayed video during Lady Madonna. Overall he looked & sounded awesome. I was listening to Back in the US on the drive down, so the change in his voice was a little more noticable to me this time. But change happens and he still belts them out like the rock star he is. Not to mention his talent, energy and stamina. Did anyone else notice his shirt? I remember before there was a fly on them, this one looked like it said Paul or PMC or something? None of my pictures with it showing are clear enough for me to be certain. Great performance, great sound, great venue. I have to give it an A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Would love to hear more from others who attended! -

My seat scored on the day before! I had no idea row c was row one! I posted some vids. A bonus for the night was that Mary McCartney walked by in front of me and was sweet enough to stop and wave at me. What a night worth the drive from L.A. THX PAUL! The new Hofner Bass opener, but maybe a spoiler if your going to one of the shows.
Song opener, enjoy.I love the stories. Paul roadies...we love it. To sum up the night, do what it takes to see Paul. I was lucky and blessed to get my seat sec 111 row 1 (just lucky). I wish I could grab a VIP package, anyone who did you did right! I was a kid for 3 hours and fact every day leading up to Fresno was life to the fullest! I met some of the greatest fans as passionate as I am and to them I thank you it was an awesome night. I'm still buzzing about it....woot! PAUL KICKED ASS!

I have some close ups which I have also viewed enlarged, and there was nothing on his shirt. It did have piping around the edges. I also noticed that when his shirt was unbuttoned that it showed off his chest very nicely. *swooning* (but no hair!!) I was 4 rows in front of you. My "cry" song was "And I Love Her" because it reminds of the scene in A Hard Day's Night when he sings it, with the camera VERY close up. Sounds like you had as great a time as I did!!

I thought maybe I dreamed it, so went back to my pics. Most of the time his guitar/strap is covering it, but you can see it when he's playing the uke.
