Thats the thing with Bruce though there always songs he will play but plenty of ones that other artists may well forget and never play again, sure i read they rehearsed about 130 songs prior to this tour thats a lot to choose from and other artists should take note. Jordan you class yourself as a casual fan i suspect the set you saw was aimed at people like yourself,to win you over, you know the hits they're on the radio a lot his other stuff is sublime and not played but can be bought at your nearest record store that's my type of artist frankly surprise me,entertain me and if im unfamiliar with your body of work win me over. But i agree The River is a wonderful song

Yes I suppose it is a display of the entire catalogue, some hits, some known album tracks, some lesser known album tracks and ones that didn't even make the cut. One of the songs was played live for the first time ever.

This weekend I have Matchbox Twenty and Goo Goo Dolls in Tampa. Been waiting for ten years to see GGD, I adore them. Then Michael Buble in Orlando in October, followed by Josh Groban times 3 (hitting all his Florida dates) first week of November, VIP meet and greet included at his Ft Lauderdale show in the package I bought. My fingers are crossed Mumford and Sons gets back out there next year, their only Florida date is when I am in Europe. And then also hoping Jack White releases that supposed crap ton of new material he has been bragging about and gets on the road himself, I have to follow him around if Paul takes a break next year. So that's about it.

Cool! I'm sitting on St. Pete Beach right now!

Fwiw, Robert Plant last Saturday was tremendous: how on earth does he still look and sound that good? Nice world music and "jam band" spin on some Zep classics as well as solo and blues covers. Seeing him in Prospect Park only a 20 min walk from home was not too shabby either! Coming up: 8/4 - Beck 8/8 - Loudon Wainwright III 9/12 - Lennon Remembered w/ Bob Gruen, Jack Douglas & Bettye LaVette 9/16 - Marianne Faithfull 11/8 - The Eagles 11/9 - Sinead O'Connor 11/14 was Gary Clark Jr. but he has been usurped by a rare and long overdue appearance in NY by Alison Moyet!! I am *so* excited - it's been 20 years since the last time I saw her and she's put out some stellar albums over the last decade, including her latest "The Minutes". Cannot wait.

I had to make some calls, re-arrange some things with ticketmaster, and give up my dreams on having money to see fogerty...BUT after Friday, I should be all set for Brian Wilson (w/ Al Jardine and David Marks) AND Jeff Beck at The Warner Theatre in DC on Oct. 5th!!! I had tix for The Rascals that evening but they were easily transferable to their show on the 3rd. So I've got... Aug. 8th- Guitar Circus (Peter Frampton, BB King, Roger McGuinn, Sonny Landreth) Aug. 13th- Buddy Guy & George Thorogood Sept. 20th- The Beach Boys Sept. 21st- The Beach Boys Sept. 29th- Peter Noone & Micky Dolenz Oct. 3rd- The Rascals Oct. 5th- Brian Wilson (w/ Al Jardine and David Marks) & Jeff Beck ...and that is IT for 2013!!! My wallet will not let me go to anymore!....till 2014

Eh...it wasn't a concert but a show nonetheless. I'll be seeing We Will Rock You, Jersey Boys, and Peter & The Starcatchers at the Baltimore Hippodrome this 13/14 season. Never seen any of 'em before.

Looking forward to hearing your review of this - have fun tonight!

Yeah nice one WR, would love to see a few of those artists, but all in one show! nice. let us know how it is.
-
Thanks guys- getting ready to leave soon...we just had a GIANT freak summer storm...hopefully no more of them this evening!!! It's undercover but outdoors nonetheless, it'll just bring the mood down. Nice and bluesy for BB King I suppose

So no Neil Young next after the cancellation tonight very sad was really looking forward to seeing him with Crazy Horse

So the guitar circus! They used their time...ALL their time. Show started right at 7pm as scheduled and was over RIGHT at 11pm, in accordance with the curfew. Sonny Landreth started it off with a 30 minute set of mostly instrumentals. He's a phenomenal slide player, quite mesmerizing...but he has the stage presence of a thimble. He barely spoke to the crowd and while it was still very impressive work, it was just short of boring in a live setting. The only real downer of the evening breaking down each guy's equipment (and band) between sets...luckily Landreth just works with as a three-piece so his gear was gone in 15 minutes. Then the BB King band begins to filter in! He has a very large band, but it's certainly worth it. One additional guitarist, bass, keys, drums, four wind players, plus two guys that help him on and off stage and then sit kind of awkwardly in folding chairs on stage with him...but aside from THAT- he was fantastic!!! At about a month short of 88, I wouldn't have thought he was a day over 75! But seriously, he's still got it for sure. His voice has taken a beating over the years, but it's the blues...who cares. He still plays Lucille like nobody's business and I truly felt honored to be in his presence for his hour long set. BB King gives me hope that Sir Paul will be performing into his 90's. But then it took 45 minutes to get him and all of his stuff off stage, and Frampton's stuff set up. Yes, I too was extremely confused as to what happened to Roger McGuinn...stay tuned! Exactly at 9:30pm, the lights went down...and I began to hear...BEING FOR THE BENEFIT OF MR. KITE...I think Paul has started something It was the recording, however, but it was the perfect song for the Ringleader of the Guitar Circus to make his entrance to! Frampton's set was only 90 minutes but honestly, it felt like it went on for hours...and not in a bad way!!! As expected, he draws his songs out but he keeps them interesting. I was never bored! Not even during the 20 minutes he took to close his set with "Do You Feel Like We Do" of course . But sandwiched in the middle of his set was a brief three-song "Special Appearance" from Roger McGuinn...a bit of false-advertising there, but we got the express version of his set I suppose. He played "Mr. Tambourine Man" and "Eight Miles High" and stayed around to play on a Frampton song I didn't know...ANYWAY, a splendid time was guaranteed for all! And the best part? They closed the show with Landreth and McGuinn (I guess it was too much too late for The King) joining Frampton and his band back on stage for a stunning rendition of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". Perfect!

Made it home! Everything started right on time at 8pm sharp but with a twist...BUDDY GUY came on first! This was my second time seeing him and he was just as good as last year! Virtually the same show, but just as good! I'd say he was even better than BB King last week, maybe not as monumental, but good is good! He said he had an hour to play, but he wasn't done till 9:15pm...and he absolutely killed, the docks were wild and packed completely. After a half hour to clear his gear, and get George's stuff (and his additional screens and lights) George Thorogood and The Destroyers (half were original) took to the stage with horror-movie pipe organ music bringing him out as an announcer flat out said "The Greatest Alive, George Thorogood!" to which he came out doing his best (or worst) Mick Jagger and bowing to the crowd, and encouraging more applause. Nothing bothers me more than when an "artist" asks/encourages an already raging crowd to give em some more. But, him and the band sounded fine! They were good...but they relied on a lot of visuals and lights to keep the show interesting. Poor Georgie didn't stand a chance following Buddy Guy...by the end of the show at 11pm, only half the audience was still there. I'm glad I got to see him once, but I won't see George Thorogood again. Buddy Guy on the otherhand...I still highly recommend him, and I'll be keeping my eye on his 2014 tour schedule.

Exactly...excellent player, a very under appreciated talent, but I'll stick with the recordings for now on.
