I live in Iowa. That is the Midwest. I know Pittsburgh is not in the Midwest and Detroit is quite a stretch.
What shall I call it...The East West?

Call it North West and Kanye and Kim will be at both shows!

I so badly wish I could go. I think he'd probably be one of the greatest live acts out there. I've been hooked on "A Matter Of Trust" recently. His vocals just kick ass.

It's VERY powerful.

"Zanzibar" is MINDBLOWING.

"Zanzibar" is MINDBLOWING.
Not one of my favorites, but a great track. The version on the Shea Stadium DVD is pretty great. His trumpet player is sensational. I'm really looking forward to the show and reading about the others. Each one should be quite different based on his interviews and claims to pull out different album tracks and different hits each night. Very few have the quantity AND quality to pull that off!

I personally can't wait. Taking Metro North from my grandmas apartment in Woodlawn to Grand Central, going to have a nice meal around Times Square, and then head down 10 blocks to the Garden. I am so excited for this show, seeing the Barclays reviews is just getting me more excited!! What section are your seats in?

Hey-- I am seriously considering seeing Billy Joel later this year when he tours. Has anyone seen him and if you have, can you describe your experience? Thanks.
I have seen Billy Joel 5 or 6 times starting back in 1981. He puts on a great show with awesome band (sax solo on "NY State Of Mind) is one of the big highlights to me. Billy develops a great rapport with the audience between songs and is quite funny. Obviously, he plays all the hits and I have heard he will be playing more "obscure" songs in his recent concerts. I saw him also when he teamed up with Elton John and to me the highlight of that show was hearing Billy sing Elton's song in the beginning of the concert when they are "Face To Face". To answer your question, go see him because you will have a blast !!

Thanks man, I'm going in April. Can't wait! Seeing Billy in NY is like seeing Paul in Liverpool.

How loud are Billy's shows compared to Paul's?

Having seen them each at Nationals Park, I'd say Billy is actually a bit softer. But not dramatically....

You bet!hahaha Dad wants to see him this year too so *hopefully* we'll be going. I hate the stadium with a passion but, we'll just get cheaper seats and sit back and enjoy the show. Going on the floor there is a headache...hell, getting in there is a headache. I'm not taking the metro this time. I almost died after the macca show...not kidding either.

Haha... I took the subway from Barclays and everyone was drunk. I buttfucked some old woman when the train moved by accident, she had no idea I was there! It was hot, cramped, crowded, and I had the great opportunity to be standing right next to Seinfeld's biggest fan. He almost fell into the gap! He was so annoying, wished I pushed him If I like the show in April, I'll go see another at MSG, or in DC. I'm guessing you're also attending the One Direction concert at Nationals Park, too?
-
Earlier this week, it was announced that Billy Joel will play at Fenway Park in late June...no word on when tickets will go on sale
-
Saw that! Very cool....we've decided against Nationals Park. Not worth all the s**t that comes with nationals park to see him twice in one year.

Just got back from Billy at MSG. He waved at me and made eye contact twice. The sound was quiet, it rose during the encore, but not dramatically. Billy brought out 9/11 Survivors on "Goodnight Saigon" (I was an emotional wreck, everybody gave a standing ovation) He played all the songs I wanted. Gavin Degraw was AWESOME too. He's about as loud as Billy. If you're seeing Billy soon, the opening act comes on EXACTLY AT 8. He played till 8:35. Billy comes out at 8:50 and plays till 11. What a show. It feels like a dream. However, I hated how so many people left during Where's The Orchestra. I LOVE that song.
-
I had no idea there was an opening act! Oh well. Sounds like you had a spectacular experience! We won't be close enough for eye contact, but we have a sign about the birthdays in common so hoping for some attention....and special guests! Maybe our boy Paul.... Just looked at the setlist....that's a great one. A few I could go without, but nothing I genuinely do not like....very little of that exists from this man. I love Where's The Orchestra too! Would love to hear The Nylon Curtain from beginning to end live....

Agreed. Just wish he played a bit longer, like the Shea gigs. I keep on forgetting how lucky we are to see Paul do 3 hour shows, it's great but unfortunate in a way because no artist will ever top Paul. Billy was great. Just the sound was too quiet. I was shocked he did Goodnight Saigon though. The first time in like 5 years. I was just saying to my mom "shame he doesn't do it anymore"... And what do you know. After I save for Paul in Albany, I'll be checking out another Billy gig. PS Wix, you are allowed to enter the main square at MSG before 7 and wait inside. You don't have to stand outside.

Goodnight Saigon is very powerful live, or so it seems....hope it sticks around. Billy keeps a much more fluid set than Paul, each method has its perks. If I'm really pleased with the setup in NYC (which I think I will be) and he continues into 2015, I'll probably consider a return trip next year if the timing is right.
