You're not serious about that right? You know it's "Crocodile Rock" right?
What are you on about? "Crocodile" rock?
Are you joking? What planet are you from? YES...Crocodile Rock! Look it up!

John Lennon - Working Class Hero
The Kinks - Nine to Five The Kinks - Ordinary People The Kinks - Rush Hour Blues The Kinks - When Work Is Over Bob Dylan - Workingman's Blues #2 (only found a cover on youtube) The Who - The Dirty Jobs The Rolling Stones - Salt Of The Earth Paul Simon - American Tune Oasis - Cigarettes & AlcoholDance-tonight, you name FOUR Kinks tracks, but they don't really fit the theme I don't think. Rush Hour Blues, Nine To Five and When Work Is Over all sound distinctly middle class to me, which isn't surprising really since the Kinks were quite a middle class band. But you didn't get the Kinks track I had thought of: Dead End Street:
Also, Pulp "Common People". The Who, "Dirty Jobs" is a great choice though. That one fits the theme perfectly. -
A Town Called Malice - The Jam Money for nothing - Dire Straits That's Entertainment - The Jam

But I don't think that those other Kinks-songs only fit the middle-class. I guess they maybe are also belong the middle-class and were written by a middle-class band, but that doesn't mean that they ONLY fit to the middle-class. They also fit the theme of working-class, because the underclass also have to go to work, work a lot from nine to five and come home after work to their wives and so on. So I guess they also fit to the underclass.

Next random theme is: CONTRADICTIONS PS please do feel free to choose a theme, anyone (at random, preferably)! Alligator was my fave so far, and that was the one picked by someone else.
-
Tainted Love - Soft Cell Don't touch me please then Touch me baby, tainted love
-
"Hello Goodbye" - Beatles

Maybe get back to contradictions a bit later, but for this afternoon I thought we could synchronise with the BBC Radio2 Simon Mayo show which is asking for suggestions for songs on the theme of TRAFFIC WARDENS, to be played in the show later today (5-7pm). http://www.facebook.com/simonmayodrivetime I've already suggested LOVELY RITA, along with many other people, so that should get played later today I reckon!
-
Don't know any except "Lovely Rita", but what about another topic in a few days: suggestions about BIRDS in songs? There must be many.

"Bird" is probably a bit too wide a category, I don't know... We could do though. A strong contender would be "Penguin" by Jon Stammers
-
Traffic Warden-related tracks played on the show included: -Lovely Rita (of course) -I Won't Back Down , (TOM PETTY) -Cold As Ice (FOREIGNER) -Chasing Cars (SNOW PATROL) -Give Me Just A Little More Time (CHAIRMEN OF THE BOARD)
-
Those songs aren't particularly related to Traffic Wardens, bar Lovely Rita. Poor show Radio 2.

Well, they all hint at traffic wardens in some way, even if they're not actually songs about traffic wardens. Depends how you want to do it really. Most of them are quite creative... anyway, back to CONTRADICTIONS for a bit, and then on to the next theme... What do people think about the BIRD one?
-
The Kinks - Lost and Found
Oasis - Live Forever (not sure about this one) -
Ah, what the hell, let's go for it then... BIRDS it is... I'll tick off all the obvious ones first, of course: "Blackbird" - The Beatles (unbeatable, really) "Free as a Bird" - Beatles and also by Macca, these other masterpieces: "Single Pigeon" "Bluebird" "Jenny Wren" "Two Magpies" Then that awesome song inspired by the above that launched a glittering songwriting career : "Penguin" by Jon Stammers
And also a mention for this song written by someone I was friends with at College, Harry Bird, from his insanely good debut album: "Hummingbird" - Harry Bird & the Rubber Wellies: http://harrybirdandtherubberwellies.bandcamp.com/track/hummingbird
