Berlin, Germany - Waldbuhne - June 14th - ARCHIVE
-
Hi Hi Hi everyone I was there with my two kids also quite near to the stage. I enjoyed it so much to be able to do this together with them. My daughter (18 ) adores Paul for his music and was as emotional as I was and my son (13) freaked out when the fireworks started at LALD. It was my third concert (2x Hamburg in '89 and '03) and in terms of atmosphere it was the best in my opinion. We are so happy and I also think that his voice was better than in other concerts in 2016... Viele Gr?sse, Ute

Like ive mentioned the venue (Waldbuhne) was great, you wouldnt imagine there was a huge city next door! I also thought security were good, they wernt telling people to sit down and you could take food and drink in. So pleased the weather held out i was getting worried concerning the reports of thunderstorms. Paul also said see you next time, so make of that what you will.

Glad to hear everyone had a good time and Paul was in good spirits!

He says that all the time, at every concert.

ahh one more - on Website from the Waldbuehne was to read: all Cameras are forbidden, but I saw a lot of People with bridgcameras and DSLRs!

It was one of the best gigs, maybe THE best gig, I ever attended. everything was perfect, the crowd, the location, the weather, Paul and the band were great, they loved the mood as well. the first time in my life I almost cried during a Paul gig. burn the seats. do GA-concerts, this is what makes it different! (and the Waldb?hne is so beautiful) edit: we had SC tickets and were front row on Brians side. It is always great how much Paul is waving and smiling and joking with the people in the front. LOVE IT!
I totally agree the whole experience with GA at a beautiful venue with Paul in great form was so amazing, this is the best gig I've been to so far! I think Paul really noticed and fed off of the great mood. How do you get over the feeling of emptiness now after a show like that?

Here's my recording of You Won't See Me which was one of the highlights for me

I'm just back from Prague having seen Paul in Berlin and then Prague. I thought the Waldbuhne was a stunning venue. I bought tickets in the pre release sale and got block A which was to the right of the stage as you look at it. It felt a very intimate venue from where we were sitting. I thought Paul was on top form and the audience was much warmer than in Prague. Although having said that, most of us were probably half cut! There are very steep steps up to the top of the arena where all the facilities were, so people were walking throughout the venue selling beer. We got through 9 drinks between myself and my husband but that was mainly because we were hot and thirsty! I hadn't looked at the set lists since the first shows of this tour. I thought You Won't See Me was fab. It was sung in a lower key than the original and was semi acoustic. Here, There and Everywhere on the piano was absolutely divine, just gorgeous. I've only ever heard him play it as part of the acoustic set before. The audience went mad for Band on the Run, which surprised me a bit, I don't know why. It does sound blooming fantastic live though! Fireworks were set off for Live and Let Die and there were stunning. They took full advantage of the outdoor setting. And thank you Paul for the tribute to George Martin. That was very touching. In fact his tributes to John and George are always beautifully performed and come from the heart. For me, a Paul McCartney concert is a private and intimate experience, if that doesn't sound weird. It's about connecting with the music, which, and the man, who, has defined my adult life. So although many here do not think he should perform it, Maybe I'm Amazed is always the outstanding song of the night for me. It connects to me in the way no other song does and I do not give a fig about his voice when he sings it. Those four minutes are about me and his song. A couple of negatives (and hardly that) but the concert was slightly shorter than previous tours and there was just the one encore. I thought maybe that was due to the local curfew laws, but having looked at the set lists for this tour, it can't be. Maybe he's accepting he's finally getting on a bit. I've noticed over the last few years how he's cut down the audience participation at the end of Hey Jude and the jam at the end of Carry That Weight. I don't like the bringing of audience members up on the stage in the encore either. I would much rather hear another song and I dunno, they feel a bit staged and fake (not to say they are). As a venue, I really like the Waldbuhne. It had a fantastic feeling to it and we were so relieved it didn't rain, after all the predictions of storms! Hubby didn't like it; he thought it was too far from public transport (it was a 10-15 minute walk from our tube stop) and hated the steep steps ( he has arthritis). I would go back again and i hope Sir Paul does as well.

Great review i also thought Waldbuhne was a perfect concert venue, stunning surroundings and if course the weather thankfully stayed nice.

Sounds like you had an amazing time!

Thanks! Oh man, it was the best time! In addition to the shout outs for John and George, Paul mentioned George Martin which was very touching. I think that was after You Won't See Me. My head and heart are still full of these concerts. So I've been spending this afternoon listening to Pure McCartney and going through my photos, when I should be unpacking! It's the first time I've taken a camera in with me. It's only a tiny bridge camera but I'm over the moon with the pics which will go on rotation as my screensaver on the computer!
