Paul and Ringo at the Grammy's

I totally disagree, the Queenie Eye performance was just ok! Nothing at all spectacular about it, it came and it went, nothing memorable about it, it didn't rock the house! McCartney and Ringo should have laid it down, should have done some rocking! I Can Bet would have been way way way better than a nice safe song like Queenie Eye. Believe me, the crowd didn't know the song Queenie Eye either, so they could of just as easily done I Can Bet, which is a much much better song! It's the anniversary of the Beatles coming to America, it would have been absolutely appropriate for them to do something like Birthday, and it would have rocked the house, instead of just having a very small part of the crowd just gently swaying back and forth to Queenie Eye. The bottom line is, they should have rocked!! Robin Thcke and Chicago were great, one of the best performances out of an absolutely boring night of music!

I saw TLC were there, probably to give Paul the money they owe him after ripping off Waterfalls almost word for word.

I agree in terms of song choice (although if they were hellbent to showcase something new, it was probably one of the better choices)...but where I was coming from was here: As Paul and band was approaching that break in the middle that involves Paul singing falsetto, I was in the same mode as if I was driving on ice and had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting an on coming truck head on, you close your eyes to brace yourself for the inevitable....but in this case, the crash didn't happen and when I opened my eyes, Paul had smoothed his way through a part in which it's studio counterpart sounds pretty...well...bad (in my opinion, of course...LOL)

McCartney and Ringo should have done some rocking! It's the Grammys you have the chance to wow the crowd why do some safe pleasant song when you have stronger material, material that would rock the house? I Can Bet should be one of the songs McCartney showcases from his new album, it always puzzles me why McCartney doesn't perform some of his strongest material" I Can Bet would of had the whole place partying!

I've never thought Queenie Eye was a great single (which, by definition makes it the song he's likely to play at gigs like the Grammys). It's not bad, but not instantly memorable and not the sort of thing that gets people off their feet and really into it. I Can Bet, Save Us or Everybody Out There would work better.

Countdown to the Grammy Salute on Sunday the 9th...6 days!

I thought that since they weren't going to do a Beatles song together, Queenie Eye was a good choice because the lyrics in the chorus come from the childhood game that Paul used to play, so to me, performing that song was a bit of a subtle nod to their Liverpool days.
-
The Grammy crowd couldn't care less about their Liverpool roots, they just want to party, so McCartney and Ringo should of done some rocking to get the crowd going! Queenie Eye was totally the wrong song!

Agreed. He should have done; All My Loving Or I Saw Her Standing There with Ringo.

I think you need to listen to both records again.

Having seen the Beatles Grammy tribute tonight, I can understand why they did what they did on the Grammys. The real reunion was for the 60th anniversary, and it was great!

Rich, It's all subjective but to my ears the falsetto/slow part and then all the chaos that immediately follows (all the hey, heys etc) is the best part of the song. It breaks up the song but still stays the course if you get what I mean. And I thought on the live Grammy version, this was when the audience got louder and more into it. At least that is what I thought heard! As far as song choice, you really, in reality, only have 3 minutes. I Can Bet is more of a rocker and might have gone over somewhat better but who knows. As I said before, the plus that Queenie Eye had was that it has been out as a single with a video that many people saw (because of all the celebrities in it) so it was certainly better known. On the other hand, it would have been an opportunity to introduce I Can Bet. I can see "Left Hands" point here. The great thing about the album is that it has so many good songs so I don't think Queenie Eye was a bad choice. It is very Beatleesque in my opinion. Reminds me a little bit like "Why Don't We Do It in the Road" but better with far better lyrics and more of a complete song.

And guess which two Beatles played on that song?

Would that be a certain Paul & his buddy Ringo?
