Camera Question
-
Thanks! There are more over in the picture thread.
-
That second photo is so crisp! Did you find that many came out with good colors?
-
Yep...they all came out quit good. Except for the people in front of me or when the camera boom started moving around.

I have a couple of dumb questions. This is the first camera I've owned with such a powerful zoom and the first camera I've owned that doesn't have a view finder. 1) Regarding the zoom: Is it best to locate what you want to shoot a picture of without the zoom and then zoom in or keep it zoomed in and search for your subject? 2) With viewfinder cameras, I could hold the camera with both hands and stead it against my face while looking through the view finder. What's the best method with a camera that has no viewfinder - just the digital screen? This seems to be especially important when using the zoom.

WE have the same camera so let me tell you what I experienced. If I zoomed in too fast...it would not focus on Paul. I had to find him & then zoom in on him & then it was ok. I was holding the camera with both hands & it was pretty good. See my pics in the picture thread in Not Such a Bad Boy.

I am pretty happy with my new camera. BUT it seems that it took a long time to recover...to be ready for the next picture. And I had read about what kind of card to buy & I did buy...it was an Extreme Plus SDXC by SanDisk. It's made for extreme speed & video. Apparently not in low light. But that is my only complaint. Here is an example of it's capabilities. I posted more in the picture thread. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3924/14621413584_511de7cfc9.jpg https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3837/14600501656_f99022bea3.jpg
Excellent camera, indeed! I am very happy with how my pics turned out. The one rookie mistake I made though was the exposure.. I had everything else set perfectly according to the suggestions previously posted on this thread.. But I stupidly had my exposure set to -0.7 from earlier in the week when I was messing with my camera.. I was so focused and preoccupied on the settings within the menus that I forgot about the exposure radial! A handful of my pictures turned out too dark..but otherwise, would have turned out great
I did capture quite a few gems though that I hope to get printed on canvas
The zoom is out of this world!

crazygina...post a few here or over in the picture thread. I'd love to see them.
-
crazygina- what camera are you using? and how close were you?
-
I'm looking to get a new camera just for Paul's concert. I'd better get it soon - it sounds like I'll need time to practice.
-
It's a good idea to get comfortable with the camera & it's settings because when Paul walks onstage you won't remember much...LOL!
-
Maybe a silly question, but is there a PS camera that has a wireless remote shutter switch? I have a canon rebel with a corded remote shutter but it leaves me tethered to the camera. I like shooting pictures with my cats and it doesn't work with me jumping up to set the timer and going back to try and pose.
-
Is it worth a much higher price and bulkier size to get 30X zoom vs 20X zoom?
-
My pics above were with the 30x. Before that I only had a 5x. The megapixel is important too. Sorry but I don't know anything about shutter switches.
-
My new camera has arrived - I went with the Panasonic Lumix ZS40. I need to start experimenting with the settings - seems to be a lot to fiddle with when you were used to a more simple P and S before.
-
That's a great camera. Good luck. I hope you get good pics!
-
I wish it wasn't quite so heavy - I will need to buy a belt for my cargo pants so it doesn't pull them down by the pockets!
-
I bought a nice holder for mine on ebay. It came with a strap (for around the neck) so I was ready to fire at any time! Like this one...
-
Wow, that looks like pro gear. After reading the email they send about the sound check and strict rules, I'm afraid to haul my lumix out for fears the lens is too long.
-
No, that's not the camera that I got. Mine is a 30x zoom. Yours is too right? That pic was just for the camera case. Here is mine
Yours will be fine. Usually they say as long as you do not have a detachable lens.

If on bag search before they let you in to sound check, you will have time to return to car to exchange. Hope you don't need to.
