I don't know if you (Paul) reads this board or not. You probably have a 101 more interesting things to do that sit and read messages boards. But, I would like to thank you and Ringo, and John and George for all of the wonderful music and fun you and they have brought to my life. I was a little kid when the Beatles took the stage on the Ed Sullivan Show. And since I was old enough to turn on a radio, music as been my best friend. And a Beatle tune has never let me down. I'm still trying to figure out how to play Blackbird correctly. Your/thier music has been a great gift, and has been used to great effect during the ups, downs, and middles of my lifetime. Two words seems to be too little, but.. Thank you

mmm... I've never wrote a thing in this thread before... First I want to thank you for being you. No-one is perfect and if I ever get to meet you probably you will stop being my role model and I'll start seeing you in different way (That's what people says bout meeting your heroes...like when John met Elvis...). But man, I know it wouldn't be this way. Everyone (well, not "everyone", specially the close ones to you) say you're an honest man, probably the most honest man in the business. Sam Leach always talks really nice things bout you, so Spanish (yeah I'm from Spain) musical journalists... Julian Ruiz, Joaquin Luqui... I always loved your sense of humour, and your positive lyrics. And... of course I like your music! Oh, my.... like to MANY other people you have become my "best far friend" or so... We have never met you, but you and your music means so much to us. Time after time in our lifes we have came back to your music and lyrics. We've always came back to the song you were singing in that particular time! Me now is feeling like the "Young Boy" looking for love, for instance... but being in love I've felt like "No More Lonely Nights" or "Maybe I'm Amazed"... Well, you already know this... you've got this effect in people and the world would really have been different without you. And well... when we come to your concerts... we come because we extremely like those songs... we want to hear you and see you... but even most... I think we all like to be there to pay a little tribute to YOU. "We love you yeah yeah yeah (yes I was that guy in Barcelona! Si si si señor)" And well.. with a love like that you know you should be glad!. But you may not always be "glad", we know your bio, the deaths of your Mum, of Linda, of John, your depression leaving the Beatles, and now the divorce from Heather... What many people don't know about famous people is that they're really ordinary guys but with a special talent for something (well, sometimes with no talent... ). And that's because I'm writing this... you'll get bored sometimes too... so you maybe will read this board once in a while.... and maybe this post will make you happy in this hard times for you. I'm an amateur singer/songwriter... Sam Leach has told me "I have promise", almost everyone extremely like my songs, even if they don't know if they're mine or not. For instance, I record two songs played with piano, one song of mine, and one really good but not very famous of some artists (These are the days of our lives by Queen, We all fall in love sometimes by Elton John, In my life by... you know). My friends didn't knew these 3 "famous" but not so famous songs in Spain... And when I asked them they always chosen my song as the best of the two I recorded!. So, I KNOWI mean, I'm SUREmy songs are really good. But that doesn't matter when you send your music to record companies, you know... According to Sam Leach The Beatles were rejected three times by almost every record company in the UK. The record companies men are business men, not musicians. Musicians are the ones who really recognize good music not business men... For instance, I discovered Rufus Wainwright, after Elton John adviced people to hear him. I stopped all that things of sending demos to record companies in Spain quite a few years ago, I found it useless (and quite stressful). Now I've only send some of my songs to 2 music publishers, that means sending my songs as a "songwriter" not like a "singer-songwriter". And that's why I'm not very sure if I would like fame or not. You know every singer on the radio is famous but no "songwriter not singer" (Burt Bacharach or so...) is stopped on the streets!. So at this moment, I'm only trying as a songwriter, but I'm not very "into the situation", I've just seen two emails with songs... and I don't expect very much of it. And that's my little story. "And I want to tell you, you're a marvellous musician, and I really love you I lot." Oliver

i don't know why its taken me so long to talk. I just can't think of the right things to say. I've thought about all the things that would be appropriate, but it doesn't seem to mean much in your case. I really want to say that you are loved. I respect your decisions and you have my loyalty. love always, (someone who once got to shake your hand and say hello,) Priscilla Jean ops:

Hope your having a lovely day today Paul!!

Paul, I've been "yours'", as in Loyal Fan, since I was barely 7 yrs. old. I'm not sayin' how far back that is, [heh-heh--are ya kidding?!], let's just say you were still a Beatle, & leave it at that. When I was in the hospital, or when the other kids at school wouldn't play with me 'cause I was "different", I could always count on you. You were always there. And you didn't run away. Kinda like that song "Shiloh", which when I heard it, I always substituted your name. [Did you write that, btw?]. Now you're "in times of trouble", and I wanna be the one to say to you, "there will be answer, let be". I'll always be here, nothing can change my loyalty. Hey, after all you've given me, it's the least I can do.
-
Hey Paul! I've seen on your messages that you're very worried about what those rumours can make people think... "Never care for what they say and nothing else matters..." Only care for what your loved ones think.

Hang in there., birthday boy. I think it was '64 when the first Beatles song was played in the USA. The radio stations had been hyping it for weeks. Someone brought a transistor radio to school, so we girls all gathered around the little radio to listen to The Beatles. I was 13. Soon afterwards, I remember kneeling in front of the tv to see The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. My parents watched me with eagle eyes to see how I'd react. I surprised myself when I started to cry. What was it about The Beatles that made girls cry? Last summer I went to one of your concert. It was the first time I'd seen any of The Beatles live. As you know, the concert started about an hour late and quite a few people were booing. Then, you came on and played Magical Mystery Tour. Ok, that was fine... but it wasn't The Beatles. (purist here). Then, lights went dim and you picked up a guitar and started to sing "I Will." I turned into a 13 year old again. Sobs came from deep inside me. You still make 'girls' cry, you know. You are incredible.

Paul!!!! Did you ever think that you'd be at an age when "When I'm 64" would apply to you? Did you ever dread that on your 64th birthday, that song would be quoted endlessly by every news outlet on the face of the globe? Did you ever hope to believe that you'd still be loved universally by people of every race, religion, and creed, even when you're old and, umm, well, not gray? But yeah. You know what I'm saying! I may not be an original fan, or even a huge fan from the day that I was born, but you have given me almost 11 years of wonderful memories, your music has shaped my life, my beliefs, everything that I am. So, on this momentous day, I just wanted to tell you that I love and admire you with every fiber of my being, and hope that you have the best birthday and father's day that you possibly can. Happy birthday, Paul. And hope that there will be many more in the years to come! Annika
