Maccafan82:
The score or the supposed song/single? Because I'm beginning to think this single doesn't exist. Game has been out now for 8-10 hours and still nothing.
I don't know. Realize now the music I heard was instrumental and not Paul's song (with him singing)
-
This is why: "He contributed orchestral elements to the game. We have a team of composers here in the building who actually score the game to the action, so they put in a lot of work. We don?t want to dismiss those guys. But Paul contributing to the soundtrack is amazing. And he wrote a new single for the game as well." http://www.vulture.com/2014/09/how-bungie-got-paul-mccartney-for-destiny.html

Yes, there have been several articles mentioning that Paul wrote and recorded a "theme song" for the game, to be released as a single. Here's another one: http://pitchfork.com/news/56235-paul-mccartney-scores-destiny-video-game/

Yes, it was all over the place that Paul recorded a song that would be released as a single. To me, that means song (with words). This was either some poor reporting or an overzealous PR move meant to drum up some interest. Either way, disappointing. Been looking forward to hearing this "single" for the past three weeks.

Quote from Bungie's Community Manager: "He contributed orchestral elements to the game. We have a team of composers here in the building who actually score the game to the action, so they put in a lot of work. We don?t want to dismiss those guys. But Paul contributing to the soundtrack is amazing. And he wrote a new single for the game as well."

YES!!!!!! Thank you! Now it makes sense. It was at the very end of the game, and of course it took a bit for people to beat it. But where is the publicity from Paul's team? Nothing on his Facebook page? No official video?

I love it!

I don't really understand why people are expecting a "song" in this thing. It's theme music for a video game. The talk of a "single" seems illogical, unless we're talking about a single like his "Honorary Consul" theme from decades ago. I wouldn't hold my breath... At best, we'll get a "soundtrack" type release. Here's the likely outline of the work:
I'm very pleased to be 100% WRONG with my above prediction! A real song with the band, produced by Giles - I wasn't expecting that.
-
Sounds good to me. Great tune. Good vocal.
-
There's a touch of "Once Upon A Long Ago" with the orchestral sweep of it, with a splash of "Lion King"-type swelling drums. Very effective. (But grammar alert: "Heavenly lights surrounding you and I"? No: "you and me." It would be correct to say, "You and I are surrounded by heavenly lights," but "I" cannot be the object of a sentence. Common mistake. All for the sake of the rhyme, I know. Please return to enjoying the song.)

from previous page...Paul's single destiny...
Very cool! -
a gamers report..

Lyrics: "HOPE" Some hope for the future; Some wait for the call To say that the days ahead will be the best of all We will build bridges up to the sky Heavenly light surrounding you and I From out of the darkness our future will come If we leave the past behind we?ll fly beyond the Sun We?ll be together, sharing the load Watching in wonder as our lives unfold Hope for the future It?s coming soon enough How fast can we achieve? Hope for the future It will belong to us, if we believe. Hope that rises in the dark Where nothing?s ever seen Lighting undiscovered places no one?s ever been Some hope for the future; Some wait for the call To say that our destiny will be the best of all And we will build bridges up to the sky Heavenly light surrounding you and I Hope that rises in the dark Where nothing?s ever seen Lighting undiscovered places no one?s ever been Hope for the future Hope for the future Hope for the future Think that's right anyway. Not quite sure about the "how fast can we achieve" line. Also I take it that "Hope" is the title based on the credits at 2:31

At times it takes me back to those Paul vocals of the mid '80s.
