Paul McCartney 2016 Rumors

Bob Gannon:
No, he got them for July 14th. Said there is only one show that night where there are usually 2
He got very lucky. Could end up being the only fan at that show. So now that we know when Love premiere is, time for the rest of the summer dates! . Hopefully Summerfest will get announced soon and we can start filling in the calendar. Yes I know, wishful thinking.

I'm worried he's cancelling the european tour because of the terrorist attack
Nah, sad to say this is nothing new at all. Madrid '04 (191 deaths), London '05 (56 deaths), Paris twice in 2015 (157 deaths in total), now Brussels, and an endless list of smaller attacks including a few avoided attacks as well in between. They knew about this situation before booking these dates and locations, and they knew nothing is going to change. I know of artists from the same stature who are avoiding Europe for this reason for a while, but McCartney is obviously not one of them. Also, McCartney played Paris (Stade De France even...) a few months after Charlie Hebdo, he played a big stadium in Madrid only 2 months after the huge attacks on the public transport over there.
Bob Gannon:
I would expect much tighter security though
Also this is barely the case. We forgot about Paris again within a week.
Exactly my thoughts. I don't think a cancellation is being considered. However, it is obvious that the situation is getting worse and it can get out of hands rather fast. In a couple of months the situation can be very different (worse) from now (I sincerely hope it won't be) and if the gigs were a serious security risk, they would surely not go ahead with them. But let's think positively - we have a beautiful Spring / Summer full of great music ahead of us!

Yeah, I just looked on the Cique du Soleil site and there are no tickets for July 14th.

I don't see the summer announcements coming for at least a month or more away. Hopefully I'm wrong but it could be as far as early June

Let's face it, there is not even a sign of a credible rumor right now other than Summerfest for summer shows

So no Italy

Yea, it is strange there were absolutely no tour news this week, I guess it might be it for April - June, but it just as well might be not...
-
maybe the fact that ticket demand especially in germany is sluggish/bad is the main reason that there are no further rumors/news for other eu gig's What is the situation for madrid/paris ticket sales?

Paul's team should forget about playing in huge football stadiums in Europe....indoor arenas are the best for Paul's shows...and theatres and clubs would be even better.....
-
The Rolling Stones played Havana, Cuba yesterday. Paul needs to play there. I was there in January and it is an amazing place. I bet his show would go over amazingly well there.

The thing is, Paul should get sponsors to pay for the show as the Stones did. The concert was free and Cubans would not be able to afford Stones or Macca's ticket prices.

As with all things McCartney, if the Stones can pull it off, why can't Paul? I agree with your point, so his people should get it done. The Stones are getting all kinds of great publicity worldwide, and Paul has nothing in the press, except in Sioux Falls, SD.

I think Paul's team made a big mistake: you can't play 3 sold out gigs in stadiums in the very same country. And another mistake is to play Holland and Belgium which are very close. Very bad planning. Half Europe is cut off

Commented that in Madrid have been sold about 35,000 tickets, with a limited Stadium Vicente Calderon of 45,000/50.000 spectators capacity

Australia is now officially a rumour! Here's a link to a newspaper article from Adelaide, South Australia: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/opinion/off-the-record-the-home-of-sa-political-gossip/news-story/6a0067cbdb07b4ff80ffb69bc0106b6a If Adelaide really is on the cards, then that suggests a proper tour of Australia. Big acts don't usually play there unless they're also playing Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and (probably) Perth.

I said this over in the Australia thread, but you can't access the article unless you have a subscription.

Sorry, Sgt Pepper, I didn't see that you had posted about the link there. I managed to read the article without a subscription. Underneath the pink button labelled "View our packages", there is a link that says "Or continue browsing our content". If you click on that, you can read the article without subscribing! Also, it's nice that, for once, Australia isn't "off topic" in this thread!
