Let's face it, there is not even a sign of a credible rumor right now other than Summerfest for summer shows
Australia is now officially a rumour! Here's a link to an Adelaide newspaper article: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/opinion/off-the-record-the-home-of-sa-political-gossip/news-story/6a0067cbdb07b4ff80ffb69bc0106b6a No idea how "credible" this is, though!
I said this over in the Australia thread, but you can't access the article unless you have a subscription.
Sorry, Sgt Pepper, I didn't see that you had posted about the link there. I managed to read the article without a subscription. Underneath the pink button labelled "View our packages", there is a link that says "Or continue browsing our content". If you click on that, you can read the article without subscribing! Also, it's nice that, for once, Australia isn't "off topic" in this thread!
For anyone who can't access the article, here's a dot-point summary: * Paul last visited Adelaide 23 years ago * Beatles fans in Adelaide might have reluctantly given up hope of a return * mentions the speculation triggered by Paul's Australia Day post/tweet * talks have begun with Paul's people for a tour of Australia, including Adelaide * this is "set to spark a bidding war among Australian promoters" (which suggests that they don't think he has yet committed to a particular promoter or deal) * Adelaide Oval (where the Stones were the first to play in 2014) is likely to be the venue in Adelaide * mentions that he cancelled the Melbourne show in 2002 after the Bali bombing * implies that the ticket prices were too high in 2002, but such prices might not seem unreasonable now * mentions that there is "fierce interest" among multiple promoters

I got into the site but the only article pertaining to Paul about touring was from January about when his official twitter acct tweeted posting an Australian flag. The mentioned a lot of the same info you outlined here. Not sure this could be an official rumor.

Hi gnome, That is a different article. The article that I am referring to was part of the "Off The Record" column published only yesterday. This column is mainly about political rumours, and the title at the top of the page is "Godfather III: Return of the Don". If you get that page up (which is the one I gave the direct link for above - but you may have been redirected by the subscription nonsense), you will find the Paul story about 1/3 of the way down. It is the second story on the page. It starts with a picture of Paul and Nancy, and the title is "Beatle Paul Gets Back to Where He Once Belonged". So, it definitely is an "official rumour", whatever that means. Cheers, Andrew.

Unlike the old article (which, I agree, was pure speculation), the new article specifically says, "Now Adelaide is said to be on the itinerary for a potential tour next year. Talks have begun with the former Beatle?s management, which is set to spark a bidding war among Australian promoters for his long-awaited return." That sounds like Marshall Arts have made it known to Australian promoters that they are taking offers for a full tour of Australia. Paul previously said that, when he returns to Australia, he wants it to be a proper tour like the one in 1993. That would probably mean at least four cities, maybe 5.

Australia is now officially a rumour! Here's a link to a newspaper article from Adelaide, South Australia: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/opinion/off-the-record-the-home-of-sa-political-gossip/news-story/6a0067cbdb07b4ff80ffb69bc0106b6a If Adelaide really is on the cards, then that suggests a proper tour of Australia. Big acts don't usually play there unless they're also playing Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and (probably) Perth.
...and Auckland, NZ He comes back he does a tour. No more of that 1 city government sponsored bullcrap.

There are 2 glaring mistakes/mistruths in the above, mate.

Would be interesting to see how many he would do if he goes to Australia at all. Ticket sales were so brutal the last time he tried it could hurt the amount of shows he'd do this time. Would make sense to do all the big cities while he's there, but a weak response again would probably mean the last stop there ever again

I see 2 in MLB, 2 in Syd. 1 each in Adl, Bne, Perth and Auckland.
-
2002 disaster aside, ticket sales for 1993 were officially the fastest selling in the world at that time. His 3 Sydney arena shows sold faster than anywhere else and smashed records. If...IF ticket prices are realistic/on a par with similar stature artists, and it is promoted well, they will sell. Even Ringo sold 2 shows in MLB.

Bob, in 93 he played two Melbourne shows to a total 120,000 people and Sydney had 3 arena shows AND 2 stadium shows! If ticket prices aren't mental - I believe the folks will turn up. Nostalgia acts always do well here. Well, most all touring acts do well here. The BIG X factor is he's burned us and ignored us since 02, so he might have soured a heap of fairweather fans. The diehards will come; no problem. THAT is the big question: has he burned all his goodwill here?

Can't compare Ringo at all. He's playing much smaller venues.
-
Yes, but my point re Ringo was it was his first performances here since 1964! There is always interest in ex Beatles.
-
Springsteen, The Stones, Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Elton, Billy Joel, Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Fogerty... all multiple visits, all sell well, multiple concerts each visit. Paul's team, IF he comes back, if they handle it right, tickets will sell.

I see the Stones each tour (been here about 5 times since Paul was last here) so last time around I was gonna give it a miss however we scored 2 upper side arena seats for $99 each! Not sure of the prices, around $250- $300 for good seats maybe?
