STRUGGLE: - My God, another gem, at least to my ears, but it's bound to polarise opinion. McCartney II meets Electric Arguments. How can this 71 year old man who has done it all, still have a such a creative fire? Please God let him enjoy health and inspiration for many years to come.
Well said

Does anyone know if Starbucks will be selling this tomorrow? Best Buy? Been so long since I've bought a physical disc I am not sure who will have this!
Best Buy has a version with badges & pics.

I think the album is fantastic, "Album of the Year" for me easily and perhaps Paul's strongest since Flaming Pie!
Flaming Pie may have won the Grammy if not for Bill Dylan with Radiohead also having claims.

What's that last song? Or two

Ok so I have spent the day (whilst working) listening constantly to the album. Like all fans I was desperate for this to be brilliant.............but apart from a few songs this is not (for me) a great one.. Save Us 8/10 Alligator 8/10 On My Way Back to Work 2/10 Queenie Eye 7/10 Early Days 6/10 New 8/10 Appreciate 2/10 Everybody Out There 8/10 Hosanna 0/10 I Can Bet 7/10 Looking At Her 2/10 Road 9/10 Turned Out 4/10 Get Me Out of Here 4/10 Scared 0/10 So five songs out of 15 that I love....but TWO should have been binned and will be "skipped" for ever more.....................this is JUST MY opinion. Scared is just "lazy" song writing and Hosanna....................Yawn

'Hosanna' is the only song I'm still trying to "like". I fully expected to love it based on what Ethan Johns said ages ago about it being so gorgeous. Perhaps it should have been a bonus song with 'Turned Out' replacing it in the lineup. It is certainly at least a 6/10 or 7/10, however. Maybe higher. It is Paul being vulnerable and wanting someone to help him through the night...that sort of feeling. I may end up liking it quite well. 'Scared' is a very nice hidden track. It's quite lovely and Paul shows his vulnerability, once again, on that track extremely well. I would certainly give it an 8/10. At least. It's certainly not lazy song writing to me. Not at all. There's not a filler on the entire album....and that includes the bonus and hidden cuts. This, to me, is the best post Beatles' album Paul has done! Period. And that it comes exactly 50 years after the term 'Beatlemania' was coined in Britain is quite a fete and makes it all the more remarkable! No one is equal to Paul now....not even Dylan or Paul Simon.

My thoughts----- very generic Save US-10 -- the echoing of screams - lyrics brill Alligator- 10 - reminds me of MAF On My Way To Work -10 - like the lyrics & musical arrangement this will grow on you,... Queenie- Eye - 10 just fantastic! Beatles & Wings vibe-- lyrics clever & Fun so damn catchy-- if someone doesn't dig Queenie Eye- somethings wrong with your ears... Early Days- 7 not to keen on the music.. sounds a bit too country- but I like the lyrics - looking back on life.. New- 7 - listened to it too much favorite line " Don't Look At Me" & the harmonies give me chills, brings a smile to your face - if they do this live hope they include them harmonies... Appreciate- not sure bout this one yet Everybody Out There -10 excellent fantastic acoustic guitar - love the God references- lyrics love em...Paul is so prophetic " I know what it's like' Hosana-8 like the opening lines- sounds like something off the Fireman I Can Bet- 10 reminds me of solo Paul Mac..Packs a lyrical punch the opening verses = Fireman ending. I really dig this one too.. great beat.. bet this will become a fave with hard core fans... kinda a dark horse off the album~ Looking At Her - not a fav... Road- not sure of this one either Turned Out- 9-reminds me of George Harrison influences in them guitars.. nostalgic song.. Get Me Out of Here 6- slight bluesy vibe- on acoustic Scared- 10 piano - haunting- deep.. mesmerizing...lyrics vulnerable and fabulous.. I Love this song-- One of Paul's best songs ever - in regards to ballads - tripped when I heard this a few days ago... 7 songs I rate a 10-- excellent album.... lots of gems in NEW

I appreciate your honest opinions. I think this is an ok CD so far. It doesn't stack up to MAF, but is in line with CHAOS and DRIVING for my tastes. Song for song, FLAMING PIE and OFF THE GROUND leave it in the dust. IMO.

How do you totaly agree when 3 post back you said it was Paul's best post beatles album. I love the Album. Not sure if its better than Flaming Pie but I like it more than Chaos and MAF. I think there is a lot of pairity on this album amongst the fans. Some people hate songs while others love them and almost all ofthe songs on the Album are brilliant in soneones eyes. I really like Alligator, Save us, everybody out there, Road, new, and Early Days. Dont really like Appreciate but some of you love it. Jusy goes to show you how great of an album this really is. b

Can't agree with that at all! Off The Ground is one of my least favourite McCartney releases. The NEW album leaves MAF and Off the Ground in the dust. The highs on Flaming Pie are better and more abundant, but New doesn't have a Used to Be Bad or Really Love You. Chaos is great but just below New for me at the moment, simply because it's less diverse in styles.

Well it's a bit too early to make any immediate remarks as to if this is as good as Chaos or Pie or Flowers. What is definite is that he has successfully re-written the formula again. Alligator, Appreciate, I Can Bet & Looking At Her are my favorites thus far. There's so much to take in...
-
My Rating, for what it's worth Save Us 8/10 Alligator 9-/10 On My Way Back to Work 8/10 Queenie Eye 9+/10 Early Days 8/10 New 8/10 Appreciate 8/10 Everybody Out There 7-/10 Hosanna 7/10 I Can Bet 9/10 Looking At Her 9/10 Road 9+/10 Turned Out 8/10 Get Me Out of Here 7/10 Scared 6/10 Lots of 8s and 9s. No standout 10/10 but no clunkers.
