I'm seeing photos and reports that people were already INSIDE HMV, so I wonder if they were able to go to Covent and be back, don't think so, seems that the concert started 2 pm instead of 1 pm, correct?
There were a few of us who managed to do both. At least 10 that I know of...

At least 72 got signed but it was packed outside along with normal (very busy) pedestrian traffic so I left the area at 4.00pm according to the tube clock. My watch had gone kaput the other week but as I don't change my timepieces that wouldn't have helped. I had stopped at HMV just before midday on Thursday on my way to the British Museum to see the gold thingy; and there were only 8 people there not 20. and sweet miss ellie arrived shortly after me. Ta very much again Mr McCartney for the memories and meeting nice people not least to say in the honourable mothers words me guardian angels.
Ahhhh, lovely Peter. I'm sorry I didn't get to say bye to you but we went to the pub after getting stuff signed as the crowds outside were insane. KEEP IN TOUCH!

Today was hands down one of the greatest days of my life! Since I was 10 I have wished to meet Paul McCartney and 18 years later I finally did!! Not only that, but I was front and centre at the pop-up gig in Covent Garden! I was luck enough to be traipsing around London with Ellie and Lucy. We got gold wristbands so we could leave and come back later. We had heard rumours about the pop-up gig and decided to head to Trafalgar Square. Once we were there we found out he was going to be at Covent Garden we were first on the scene! It was surreal! I screamed and he said something to me on stage, so AMAZING! When I met him it was so surreal! I had to spell my name out to him 4 times lol! Probably because I was speaking so fast, I knew I only had seconds. Even though it was only moments, it was so amazing and he seemed happy with what I said to him and I made him smile Best day ever. I do feel bad for those who got a black wristband and didn't get a signature. That's raising someones hopes and throwing them down. Not the best way to handle the wristband situation, but I can't complain because I was fortunately lucky enough to win!
I am so happy we got to share the day with you. I could think of nothing better. Reminds me of our BW Saturday night and "Party for Paul!"

Still pinching myself that I won a wristband. Still pinching myself that my best mate also won a wristband. We found out while we were in the queue outside HMV. Too much to take in....
I can confirm that Ellie and her friend were in the queue when they won wristbands, the black band looks nicer anyways. Ellie got her notification first upon which I exclaimed nice words, but she was still in the queue over an hour later when her friend won, she was going to stay and queue with her friend. Another lad in the queue won a wristband but his sister didn't and he stayed all night with her.

So glad it worked out for you Peter, you deserve it! It sounds stressful but FAB For you, Rachel, Neeta, and Phil When you said this earlier -
peter:
you know what my answer would be lass.
you did mean not to go cos it would kill my sister didn't you?! Cos i didn't go, i did as i promised as steered clear even though i was in london. Like i said, for reasons too boring to go in to i couldn't really do a 24 hour pavement stretch (wish i had..) cos a lot of health issues this year (if he does a signing next year then may be ok!), and then when my sister found out she couldn't get the day off without getting sacked, i promised not to go... Despite me being in london thursday and friday with my boyfriend - we booked months ago cos we're huge fans of another singer too and were going to see them (though Paul is of course no 1!). I found it really really hard to try and ignore it all... and thursday was tough cos the thing i was seeing was in the building next door to where Graham Norton was being filmed! And my sister had reluctantly said that if i got a ticket she wouldn't mind.... so i was wandering round, hoping for spares, but with no luck, and bumped into 3 Paul friends who couldn't understand why i was there and not going in!!! I so so so wanted to go to GN, if i had a spare i would have But i gave up 7pm and went in the place next door instead. So yeah, i missed that, AND the signing. I do have a tale to tell about the secret gig though, for another thread another time But cos i have no contacts who could text me, and didn't look in the rock show forum (WHY not mention something so time urgent in this forum - which i did look at twice before 12 noon) a run that mo farah would have been proud of was needed.... i shall say no more (For now!)

I am being interviewed tomorrow on radio about my experience meeting Macca
Gonna be a guddun... Featuring live interviews with Jason Hobbs, who queued overnight to obtain Sir P's autograph last Friday. We will also be airing the views of those who felt let down by the event. On a lighter note... BING!!! we will also have Thomas McConnell on the show for a chat. the young Liverpool lad who Paul acknowledged, in person, during his recent BBC radio show as being the guy who first covered 'New'. Thomas is also a fabtastic artist in his own write and we look forward to sharing his own material and his incredible covers of Beatles songs with ya.Plus we will have Mick Lynch to talk us through Paul?s recent chart activity both in Ireland, UK and the rest of the world.

I was at hmv. Paul left me a bit disappointed and angry. I waited 12 hours outside the store and 8 hours inside the store. I was really excited as everyone who managed to get wristband. But whene there were only 7 people before me and so i was really close to meet Paul, he stopped signing and went away leaving nearly 50 people without sign. I hope there will be a better organization next time.

Sorry to hear that AMRossi, roughtly what number were you in the reserve queue? I was about 26 in the queue

I was at HMV and got a gold wristband and was just waiting around in the store. I found out that the rumours were true and that Paul was going to do a show at Covent Garden at 1pm. At about 12.40 I asked a guy from HMV what time should I start queuing with a gold wristband and he said 2.30 at the latest. I decided to leg it over to Covent Garden when I got there it was just before 1pm he came on at 1.30pm and said he was only going to do a few numbers. I watched and videoed the first 2 numbers on my phone and almost through the third by now it was getting on for 2pm so I went back to HMV. I missed the last 2 numbers. When I got back to HMV it was a bit manic but got in the queue and was about 20th. I probably could have stayed and watched the last 2 numbers but just didn't want to risk it. Got my cd signed and had a quick chat about my daughter who used to go to LIPA and now she's at the London College of music. Paul said he was really impressed with the LIPA students and told me to give my daughter a big kiss from him when I saw her. A brilliant day all round out of the house at 4am from Blackpool and back home at 11pm. Will live long in the memory I couldn't believe he actually performed I thought it was a hoax.

stuart21guitars glad to hear you had a great time, well done on winning a gold wristband
-
Thanks Boggle appreciate that. All the best.

I was number 58

Reading through the posts written by those who were left disappointed I think maybe it was a pity that Paul's band weren't at the HMV signing too? Not quite the same as meeting Paul of course but had I been there I wouldn't have minded meeting a member of the band and having my cd signed by them?

How many people in total did he sign for then? The 60 winners and how many in the queue? And what time did the first person to miss out start queuing? (And what's happened to all those ebay scum who were trying to sell 5 things per wristband! I take it it was only 1 per person heh!) Sorry for so many questions, just full of wonder seeing as i didn't get to go! Oh and what time did he leave? i read the pavement was packed with people trying to see him go!
