There have been threads talking about Paul's lyrics, I was really impressed, even from the song New, that Paul really worte some good lyrics and meters and rhymes on this record. its a fun listen because of that, and along with the quality of the music.
Definitely agree on the lyrics. Sure there are some lazy moments (like on Everybody Out There). But there are also some really clever moments. Some really honest, insecure, vulnerable moments.
-
are we talking here about HMV signing or the Lyrics thread?
-
http://www.nme.com/news/paul-mccartney/73304 The NME story does say he signed 500 autographs, including of people who'd camped out front. So he did sign more than the 60 contest winners. And some of those campers DID make it in, just not all of them.
Dutch fan Rose Van Den Eyden had queued for 30 hours to meet McCartney. She also brought a bunch of flowers to present to him, though these were confiscated by security guards. Van Den Eyden said: "It was tough, sleeping in the alley, but Paul is a superstar and worth some discomfort to meet. I've come from the Netherlands especially for today."
30 hours? Well more power to her. I can't see myself ever doing that.

Could anyone please confirm how many were signed? Facebook guy says his girlfriend didn't get thru (she arrived at 11 pm the night after thought), and says that about 35 people with wristband didn't get the chance, bit how many 'reserve' wristaband were given at 8 am? NME says he signed 500 people! how can it be! another news report says he was there only 50 minutes.
Well it just took me 3 seconds to sign my autograph. So a few hundred in an hour would be possible, though his hand was probably hurting badly after that. And I'm sure some people tried to chat too long.

There ya go! Nice job doing your part to get Paul up the charts! When I first played the album I thought it was good enough to be a #1., but looking at it, may not happen.. Freaking great work from Paul though!

Isn't that the gal that got up on stage at a concert & started talking to the audience?

Absolutely. I'll sign for anyone who lines up outside of my office in the next five minutes.

Ha! If it was, Paul was probably thinking, "God no."

At least 72 got signed but it was packed outside along with normal (very busy) pedestrian traffic so I left the area at 4.00pm according to the tube clock. My watch had gone kaput the other week but as I don't change my timepieces that wouldn't have helped. I had stopped at HMV just before midday on Thursday on my way to the British Museum to see the gold thingy; and there were only 8 people there not 20. and sweet miss ellie arrived shortly after me. at around midnight there was only 62 or 63. Not much change till nearly 6 am when the tubes started to run. The only figure I heard was that the reserve inside the store from 8 am was around 100. As to what happened after 4 pm I cannot enlighten anyone. It was so crazy outside I could only say goodbye to Rachel. I will no longer be attending any event of any kind. This week just rolled out in a strange way. I won two tickets to Radio Two and it went from there. Basically with little participation from me, when women tell me things I listen and obey, ok maybe only when it involves not going home when there is a chance to see Macca. Personally I think a concert in Winchester Cathedral would really really work. Ta very much again Mr McCartney for the memories and meeting nice people not least to say in the honourable mothers words me guardian angels.

A few people on twitter are reporting to me that they'd been waiting 18 hours and Paul left before they could get an autograph. Lots of people in tears. Oh dear.
I hope you're telling those people on Twitter to take a chill pill and quit attacking Paul. If you're dumb enough to wait 18 hours for the possibility of an autograph, you should live with the consequences. There were no guarantees. And the pictures of HMV show that shop was packed with people, not to mention those outside. I'm sorry but these sorts of hysterical fans scare me. And then they end up ranting at Paul. : : : : : : They need a bit of perspective.
I would take my anger out on HMV not Paul if it were me. That's what I probably did last time at the "Space Between Us" Virgin signing. HMV wants to create more hysteria to sell items at their store. Do they care how long and what conditions people endure at their signing when they don't even plan wristbands properly. Its a record store issue. Plain and simple.
Endure? Those people chose to camp out. With no guarantees. I understand disappointment. You chose to spend 18 hours there and it didn't work out. That sucks. But being hysterical and attacking people over this is nuts.
I didn't spend 5 minutes there, so I assume you are speaking in general? I am saying that if people want to be angry about the way a signing is handled, they should complain to the store, not to the artist(and not direct their distaste towards him, of course). Yeah, it's somebody's choice to wait long hours but that doesn't mean that people can't complain if they were given incorrect information or treated badly by a record store.
