Times you've been disappointed in Paul?

I don't think George was ever in a good mood, when it came to The Beatles. I sometimes feel sad when I see Paul play "Something" & "Here Today" for John, and I think if things were different and they were on tour, would they be doing a song for Paul?? I'm pretty sure the answer would be no...Sad.
I never thought of that, I am pretty sure you are right, sad. Paul seems like the kind of guy to forgive and move on, for the most part. People like John, George, Yoko even Ringo have spoken badly about Paul publicly and Paul rarely has, if not at all. One of the reasons I love him (Life is too short for fussing and fighting my friend... )

^good point. And even by his standards, George was particularly nasty and prickly toward Paul during that time. Yet Paul still put that all aside to help George and do the Anthology when he (George) was broke and needed the cash. What does that tell you about Paul's character?
I've always deeply admired that Paul didn't resort to cheap shots. BUT ... Paul wanted to do the Anthology as much as (and probably more) than George did. Paul didn't just do it as a favor to George. Paul did the Beatles anthology because he wanted to. Also, despite my earlier comment that skipping the HOF ceremony was a bad PR move for Paul, I've got to say: This doesn't really matter to me all that much. I can't really say I'm "disappointed" in Paul about this. I just think it was a clumsy move.
You're right, he did want to do Anthology, but given how George had treated him, in public and private, by the early 90s, he very easily could've said "fine, **** off and be broke" and he would've been completely 100% justified. But he didn't. And George took many swipes at him AFTER, even though Paul paid for some of his cancer treatments the last year of his life (according to what I've read) and offered up one of his own houses for George to go peacefully and secretly die at. (I'll come out and say it: I love George but he's my least favorite Beatle...he held on to so much bitterness over the Beatle experience and had a lousy relationship with Paul for most of his adult life and a lousy one with John for most of the 70s).
While George could be a bit abrasive towards Paul during the solo years I think deeep down the loved and cared for each other. It's just a shame that it wasn't until the very end they mended so many fences between them.

I agree! What Paul must have been going thru, having to put up with their remarks.& Just when you think everything is cool with Ringo,Ringo will make some stupid remark. I laugh sometimes, when I read fan comments about George... they always say, sweet George...George was so sweet...George...sweet?? They obviously have never read his comments about Paul ! Who was worse when it came to Paul? John or George ? It's a toss up for me. I really hope they did patch things up tho.

its really making me depressed how George decides to forgive Paul on his death bed. wow was the break really that serious to him? he probably felt somewhat threatened by PAUL in a sense, because of his strong personality. I have read that Paul could be somewhat of a control freak at times. not that am saying its necessarily a bad thing. But at least George and John did somewhat make peace with Paul before they died.
-
and George never made peace with John before John died. Ringo talked about how George had to live with that

with their egos,George probably thought John had to make peace with him.

Ok. So back on topic more, I am disappointed Paul doesn't put more solo stuff in his set lists. Plenty of legitimate top 10 hits he could put in there from the solo years.

Life is too short for fussing and fighting my friend... I think you are correct. Paul is that kind of person. Lots of Beatles fans are that way, too. I am. I'm sure you are that way

I think what it all goes to show is that whether you're an average schmoe like all of us here on this board, or a famous person like Paul, etc, we've all got flaws and virtues. I will say I was disappointed when Paul remarried so soon after Linda passed...I understand he was lonely and sad and it was most likely a rebound thing, but still, it never sat right with me. The only good thing to come out of it was his youngest daughter.
SO SOON!?? It had been four years. My husband and I married four years after his wife's death. Was that too soon too? : : :

Didn't he meet HM in 1999 though and start a relationship right away? Only 1 1/2 years after Linda's passing? Oh well, we all know Paul can't be long without a woman/companion/wife.

Yes, and that was my point. Although Yoko took up with a new guy 2 MONTHS after John was murdered (so much for the great "love story" myth she's peddled ever since) so I guess I should give Paul a bit of slack on this.

Two months?

Was it even 2 months ? I think she moved him in after 2 months. I've never believed that "great love story" of John & Yoko. Now Paul & Linda, I believe

Good distinction...Sam Havadtoy moved in with Yoko in February/March 1981 but there are rumors she was seeing him months before John died, and she's since admitted to several affairs post-75. The myth of the "great love story" is just that, a pile of bullshit and lies. At least with Paul and Linda, the truth is much closer to what the public thinks of them than not.

Watch the Anthology. George is MISERABLE in any of the scenes where he's with Paul, to the point of it being uncomfortable. .
Yes, I spotted that when I watched the Anthology air
There is one part where they're sitting on the blanket on the grass and Paul tries to ask George something and George completely ignores him and you can hear Paul say, "Well I guess not." So sad!! And then in the studio Paul was so upbeat and wanted to play some song and George is like "The short version."
You guys are ruining it for me. I didn't pick up on any tension at all. I do recall that moment when Paul said "I guess not," but I'm sure that George simply didn't hear Paul. Plus, it was during that same gathering when George seemingly had a genuine interest in what songs Paul had written, asking which songs Paul wrote while on their spiritual voyage to India.
You both are right. while they were on the blanket, I picked up George was tense but do remember, that was filmed in Friar Park, George and Paul were having problems recording Now and Then and George let them film at Friar Park to make up for his bad part in the fiasco.
Also when the three of them arrived in George's flash McLaren (?)....they all get out and Paul leads the way..."Well, shall we go and make a record?"
