Times you've been disappointed in Paul?

He didn't want to be two-faced at the R&R Hall of Fame ceremony. Makes total sense to me.
agreed. I remember he was criticized by a lot of people for not going, didn't Mike Love from the Beach Boys jump on the "Paul's-a-petty-fool-for-not-showing-up-here-tonight" bandwagon that night?? I never blamed him for not going. I bet he would've like to go and it is a shame that he was not there, he deserved to be there, but I don't blame him for not going. He was being sued by the others and it would be hypocritical to show up and smile, speech and photos with them...and imagine how the press would twist it? "everyone felt the tension on stage....Paul didn't look at George the whole night...Yoko and Paul stood far apart from each other....there was a brawl backstage...LOL" So either way, the press would've been unpleasant, but at least Paul was being honest about the situation. The part that bugs me, is Yoko's comment about "John would've been here" Oh shut up Yoko, you know damn well why Paul isn't there...and are you so sure John would've shown up if the other 3 were suing him?? Don't know the man personally, but I am not so sure he would've gone, smiling and pretending.
-
No kidding. Yoko should've shut up, too...if many rumors and conversations he had prior to his death are to be believed, had John lived, *YOKO* might not have been there (there is some evidence that he was planning on divorcing her in 1981).

Because McCartney is skipping is AGAIN! The closest he'll get will be Japan in November. He ain't NEVER coming back - and worse, NOBODY in the know has the balls to tell us that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All the speculation, all the press glimmers of hope through the years have been planted by PAUL himself... All just blatant lies... Here's just one example of the spoon fed drivel he's dished out to us... -- The 69-year-old said his last plans to tour Australia were cancelled after the Bali bombings in 2002. "Actually the last time we were very nearly there, it was just before the Bali bomb and we were almost going to go but then suddenly we were like: 'It's not time to be jolly.' But ah, so we're still working on it," he said. http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/music/we-can-work-tour-out--mccartney-20120204-1qz8m.html

Did he announce new tour dates? I must have missed that. (ETA: Just caught the press release!) I also must have missed where he announced a permanent ban on Australian shows.

I'm curious about the source of the "good authority.*" I don't want Aussies to just give up hope completely -- especially, while the tour is still underway. *=mentioned in another thread

Exactly. Tony Bramwell makes mention of that in his book. He said it came from John's cousins and sisters. Pretty reliable sources, if you ask me. I have not read Julia Baird's book. Someone may know if she mentions it in there.
-
I've read Julia's book. she does not mention it. Yoko fans claim the rumor of divorce comes from Fred Seamen whom they claim is not credible

wow i take a break from this thread and come back to learn something new about jOHN . LOL

^totally agree. However, something a lot of people don't realize is that it was George's fighting with JOHN (and Yoko) that led to him quitting the group halfway through Get Back. But yes, it's uncomfortable at times how overbearing Paul is toward the others in that film.
I don't think that what we were able to see was that bad! Give me a specific instance. George was the one who really couldn't stand Yoko, especially when she stole and ate his cookies (biscuits to the Brits) and according to one insider's book, yelled "You bitch!" at her!
I was surprised to learn in George fandom how many George fans blame Paul for holding George back but John wouldn't even be in the same room when they recorded one of George's songs

wow you mean to tell me that John's Ego was that big? No wonder George felt some type of way during the final recording sessions before the break up. but what i don't understand was why he was mad at Paul AND NOT John? and people thought that Paul was being over bearing during those recording sessions ,but in fact i think he was just trying to keep the group together. oh well i guess it just wasn't meant to be right

It wasn't ego. John said George insulted Yoko to her face, and John said he held back from hitting George. Things were pretty strained by that point. There were days they couldn't stand to be around each other, let alone make any music. Splitting up the group was inevitable.

well either way it was sad that the group broke up. oh well it is what it is now I guess.

I never got this George vs Paul "feud". I mean, the Let it Be film shows more of their individual personalities (& indifference to the band at worst), as opposed to arguing. Most bands would kill to have the chemistry the Beatles did, even in the latter years. Also, let's not forget that Paul did try to help George in the latter years. Paul did write the awesome piano opening for While My Guitar Gently Weeps, he could be seen adding musically to I Me Mine & All Things Must Pass. John wasnt even in the studio. But, the most ironic thing to me is John absolutely ripped George in his 1970 & 1980 Rolling Stone interviews. Meanwhile, I dont think Paul had a negative thing to say about George after the breakup.

That George and Paul feud was pretty damn severe through much of the 80's, and into the 90's too. Practically hated each other's guts.
-
Actually, the Paul vs George feud was over by the very late 80s. In fact, in 1989, Paul and Ringo both made statements that none of the surviving Beatles had any negative issues with each other anymore. They were closer then they had been in years. by the Anthology, George and Paul feuded in the studio again sure, but George tried to make up for his parts by letting them film at Friar Park
