I think the obsession with his hair makes people look petty and silly. And you expect him to remained perfectly coiffed during a rock-show??!! Well, I never.
NO ONE said anything about perfectly coiffed.
You can say it's "petty and silly" to care about his hair. But that's just denying reality, and the reality is: Style matters in pop and rock. It always has. And for some inexplicable reason, Paul has allowed his hair -- both the often bad coloring and lately the cut -- to become a punchline for 10 years now. He could do something about it, and he chooses not to, and people (including potential fans) are turned off by that. A good deal of the reason Bowie is being canonized lately for aging "gracefully" is purely because of style, since his latest record isn't any better than any of Paul's late-career records. You may not want it to matter but it does -- unless you're Neil Young or Bob Dylan. But if you're an artist like Paul who was a beautiful man for decades and who was in a band that set style trends for generations, people are going to notice if your hair always looks dodgy.
And you expect him to remained perfectly coiffed during a rock-show??
Yes. Bruce Springsteen manages it. He has a short, attractive style that looks good from start to finish in his 3 hour rock shows. A good cut would do Paul wonders, IMHO.
But Paul's hair still hasn't stopped him from selling out arenas/stadiums where ever he goes and I doubt the majority of the people at the shows are thinking about his hair.
Sorry - I am thinking very few people worry that much about Paul's hair. Paul is still a very very beautiful man... his hair is just fine. Is there a single man reading this, that has honestly thought... gosh Paul's hair... think I'm going to skip concerts from here on out.... NO of course not!! Men don't worry about that stuff, that's why they only have to pay $10 at the barber and we girls pay $100. They have our number and see us coming... Another media illusion.

He looks like he's doing a strip tease while the others are egging him on. I always loved this pic

YOu obviously have never met a gay hair dresser.

That is (almost) a redundant phrase.

Sorry but men DO talk about that stuff. I read a lot of male-dominated music forums -- not purely Paul forums like this one where of course people would go see him even if his hair was purple. I'm talking about general music forums where there are Paul fans and Paul haters and everything in between. One of the things that comes up over and over by the MEN posting in those forums is not-very-nice comments/jokes about his dyed hair. Not trying to belabor the point but its naive to think this hasn't hurt his rep in the broader world. So ... moving on to the point of this thread, I love this pic of Paul:
-
Lest we forget Paul's attempt to try something different when he taped the music-video for "Waterfalls."

But his sweater vest in that video is awesome!!
-
By the way: I liked his hair in that vid. I was just making the point that men do care about their hair. Elvis Presley is a prime example.
-
Actually I liked his hair in that Waterfalls video too. It was funny, though, what a difference it made parting it on the other side. He even talks about this in the McCartney II deluxe set.
-
well now I have to go & watch that one again. lol
-
why is there always another page listed but nothing is there? can a mod fix that please? edit... haha..now I just went into the next page.
-
I was getting the same thing.

I thought that as I typed it out but then I realized that some people might not really know that about hairdressers so I decided to spell it out

blue jay hey:
saw this one on fb and also the elvis gravesite one as well pretty sweet
Saw this same pic on FB. What is Paul holding in his hand in the gravesite pic? It appears that he's leaving something at the grave, but I can't quite figure out what it is.

It's a PM guitar pic. He said he was leaving it so that Elvis could use it!

Bruce has very tight curly hair, it's not the same!! He's probably worn Brylcream in his hair since he was a young thing with those greaser jeans and leather jackets! Hairdressers can tell you that too! lol Paul has straight hair like Neil Young. You guys are going over board here... " He could do something about it, and he chooses not to, and people (including potential fans) are turned off by that." I don't see one sign about hair !! they look pretty turned on to me

This is getting ridiculous now. :
